Deep Purple guy and Sabbath

Ian Gillan

I kind of thought he was a bad fit. I definitely don't hate his singing though. He's one of the greatest rock vocalists ever in my opinion. I absolutely LOVED all the stuff he did with Deep Purple, and Deep Purple was never better than when he was the vocalist (David Coverdale was pretty good too). But Black Sabbath was just a bit too heavy for his bluesy psychedelic rock style.

This video always kinda makes me laugh at how the audience seems to not really register what they are witnessing - one of the greatest rock bands at their peak giving one of the most brilliant live performances of their entire careers. They're all sitting there stonefaced like they are lost in a maze of confusion and boredom. :D

Just like in real life, cows are stinking up the server.

Cows don't stink. They smell terrific if you cook them right.

Most Sabbath fans don't want to sound cliche and admit it, but honestly... Paranoid is the best album.

I agree.. its rawness cant just be simply dismissed

I always particularly loved Geezer Butlers contributions to the band and how prominent a role the bass was allowed to play in the mix in all the Sabbath albums with Ozzy. You can clearly make out what the bass is doing at all times. And the way Geezer plays doesn't always match Iommi's guitar. They contrast each other perfectly and there's so much interesting melody at work there. With lots of other bands in the hard rock and metal genre, the bass seems like it's only there because it's expected to be in order to fill up the low end of the sound, and the bass tends to match whatever the rhythm guitar is doing note for note. It's not interesting. With Sabbath, the bass was it's own instrument and it had unique things to say in the music.

If you're gonna have a thread, it should be thoughtfully "inclusive", as the lefties always say, and "have pictures with people who look like you" and/or "accurately reflect your culture". These are your people, Cracker Simp.

Their best album and one of the best albums, imo.

Most Sabbath fans don't want to sound cliche and admit it, but honestly... Paranoid is the best album.

First time I listened to it was the early 90's. Was flipping through my dads record collection one day. He had shit like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, Grand Funk Railroad, Steppenwolf, Moody Blues, etc. But he also had two records that I almost couldn't believe he dared to buy. Black Sabbath's Paranoid, and Alice Cooper's Love It To Death. I had an old early 80's stereo system in my room that I inherited from my great grandmother when she passed that was a record player and tape deck receiver thing. I snuck em up to my room and listened to them in the dark after everybody went to bed. (My dad didn't want me touching his precious records, lol) Fuckin magical! There's just something about hearing those two albums on the original vinyl... that needle hiss adds a nice eerie ambiance to the music.

Was fixing to post a picture of the album, but alas... it's either in a box in the basement, or at my parents house. I found the Alice Cooper one, and I have a copy of the not-at-all greatest Black Sabbath album Technical Ecstasy (eh I still kinda like it). Also found a little 45 single of Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper.

I used to scour the record bins at local consignment shops when I was a teen looking for old records. Back then, they were going for like 25 and 50 cents each, even popular shit like Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. Nowadays those old records sell for 10 to 20 bucks or more. I'm telling you what man... don't throw out your cassette tapes. They're probably gonna make a comeback. CD's too. Hell, VHS has a cult revival going on now I think. People like old shit.

John Prine. Not really a terrific song, I was never too interested in his music. Kinda rediscovered him lately. He was always a great storyteller kind of singer/songwriter. He suffered from lung cancer and had respiratory problems towards the end. He passed April 2020 from complications due to covid19.

Anybody a fan of the Warlock movies? They're kinda hokey, but fun. Anyway, dunno if anybody heard about this... the guy who played the evil Warlock in the first two Warlock movies, Julian Sands - he's been missing since mid-January. He went hiking in the mountains somewhere in CA and most likely got caught in an avalanche.

They finally found one other guy that went missing the same time he did, from another party of hikers in the general area. It's been more than a month, so I'd say it's very likely that Mr. Sands will not be found alive. :'( Sucks. It's not impossible that they could've found a way to survive all this time, but... not likely.

More on GTA Online...

Me and ReaL been playing a little GTA Online here and there, mostly banging out the Cayo Perico heist. He's found a glitch that allows him to play the heist finale over and over again with the panther statue (highest payout of all possible targets) as the main target. Maybe he'll come here and read this, mostly addressing ReaL here:

Dude. They completely FUCKED the Cayo Perico heist. They might've even patched whatever was letting you run the finale over and over, not sure. But I for sure know they've modded the game to make all cameras spot dead bodies and all guards spot dead bodies. A couple nights ago I was running through the heist. I infiltrated in a smuggler plane at the airstrip, picked up weapons from the weapons drop in the hangar, whacked all the guards around the airstrip and set off no alarms. Filled the loot bag with secondary targets, then headed to the main compound, going over the wall with the grappling hook from the right side of the villa. No alarms at that point. I went through the villa like I always do, shooting the guard patrolling the middle area between the main office and the two rear buildings. But when the juggernaut guard finally made his way down there, he spotted the body.

 :frustration: :frustration: :frustration:

After about an hour and a half of doing it over and over again, it seemed like I couldn't kill ANY GUARDS AT ALL or else once I left the office after hitting the vault, the alarm would go off. So... I guess... from now on, you have to get into the office without killing ANYONE AT ALL, or else when you try to leave, the alarm will sound. Leaving the compound is tricky now too. You have to make sure you take out the guy patrolling the inside of the fence area in the jeep before he comes across any bodies where you've killed guards - like the one that stands by the dirt bike right in front of the front door to the villa.

So fuckin frustrating. They obviously didn't change this as a "gameplay improvement", they only did it to make the heist way more difficult and frustrating so they can sell more of the stupid ridiculous Shark Cards.

Um... it might help if you put the names of the movies beside the numbers in the damn poll, sir.

My favorite black movie...

Richard Pryor, Redd Foxx, and Eddie Murphy, all in the same movie. Holy crap. "Original Kings of Comedy" my ass. Those 3 were the ORIGINAL KINGS.

And Della Reese in her best role ever.

I would petition to have the channel avatar reverted back to the old Tastyspleen logo rather than the Twisted Sister TS logo, which I believe might unintentionally offend trans persons.
