Another necropost. But I didn't just want to stick this in the usual "whatcha listening to" thread, because... I don't "listen to this". I just happened across it randomly on youtube and thought the video was pretty cool. Don't really like the music. Sounds like generic metal-rock to me, I dunno.

Yeah, next time if at all possible it would be best to give at least 1 or 2 weeks notice for word to get around better. This community is still somewhat active, you're likely to get at least a handful of people from around here.

Houston's up 3-2, only need one more.

We can't let the Phillies win. When a baseball team from Philly wins the world series, the markets shit their guts out. 1929, 1980, 2008.

In other words, Joe Biden is the president, so... the Phillies are going to win. :mrdead:

Been there, done that!  :lolsign:

[BTF]Deathstalker and [BTF]Gator can also attest to this, if you've played any of the old Nascar sims on PC like NR2k3 that we used to race in the BTR league, you've likely tried that same move on the Martinsville track. It sometimes works if you hit it just right, but it tears at the bodywork and screws with your aerodynamics and slows your lap times down a little afterwards, so it's an unwise move. In a crowd of cars it can be more difficult to pull off because you need to hit the turn at juuuuust the right angle and with full speed and NO BRAKING AT ALL or else you don't have the momentum to resist the drag of the wall all the way through the turn.

Hopefully nascar bans that move and no other drivers ever attempt this, otherwise someone's gonna get hurt, possibly even a fan.

The two idiots with the least amount of credibility (see above) want someone banned.

Where did my last post indicate that anyone needed to be banned? Just LOOKING for fucking problems again, aren't you.

Is an idiot someone who can't count? (ie, YOU) Because the only "idiot" I see with "the least amount of credibility" is pasta (as evidenced by his own quote). And him plus you equals 2, so I guess you're right, 2 idiots. But if you think he's an idiot... I know you're swapping spit and websites with him. Don't wanna get in the middle of a lovers quarrel with you two. Hope it turns out okay.

PS. If I dislike jewish people, what are you gonna do about it? Oh, obsess over it and cling to my dick like your mommas crabs? Cool. Have fun with that.

I cheer whenever Israel blows the hell out of the stupid shitty palestinians who keep tossing rockets into gaza. But why should a thing like facts keep you from being a shithead to someone for no fucking reason, you developmentally disabled asswipe.

Nice avatar, stupid. You think it's supposed to say "I hunt nazis", but to me it just says "I brought a knife to a gun fight."

Some pics of the pumpkin by the door.

With flash on...

With flash off, 2 tea-lights inside...

Wanted to do something much more interesting and intricate (Minions, Nosferatu, skull etc), but I didn't have proper knives and tools, I just used a serated everyday steak knife. Been well over 15 years since the last time I did a pumpkin for Halloween. I traced out a template with a pencil directly on the monitor from an image I found on the web, tried to pick the easiest one without a bunch of tight curves to the cuts that would still look okay. I think next year I'm gonna try to get several to do up with faces and stick them between the bushes, probably get some colored LED lights to go in them so I don't have to worry about candles. People loved the haunted house sounds, but there were no decorations other than the pumpkin. Wanted to get a bunch of crazy stuff at Target the other week to decorate the yard with for Halloween, but I started doing the math in my head and it was gonna cost A LOT. Wanted to go a little extra crazy doing up the yard differently for Christmas this year, so I should have a little more money for that now.

I'm declaring this the official yearly Halloween thread. :jacko:

I remembered that Quadz had put together a haunted house audio clip using Acid Pro. I'm gonna download it and play it through a pocket mp3 player into a boombox on the front porch by the jackolantern I carved. Haven't done one of these in a LOOOOOOOONG time. Turned out okay I guess.

Just in case no one noticed... Houston was #1 seed in the AL (wild card bye). In the ALDS, they swept Seattle 3-0, in the ALCS they swept New York 4-0.

This thing could be over in 4 games. Now I'm starting to wonder how many other teams have ever gone through the post-season without a single loss.

Phillies win game 1.  :D It's like if I say it, fate says, "Screw you, the opposite thing!"

Tech Junkie Lounge / Re: What is the best monitor for Quake2
« on: October 26, 2022, 02:24:27 PM »
Necroposting. But it's on topic.

My old monitor was this ancient Benq square LCD thing, can't even remember the model, it doesn't matter. It was a trooper though, lasted way longer than it should've. I think the fastest it went was about 60 or 75hz. For the longest time I played Q2 with the monitor set at something pretty low like 30 or 40, can't really remember. I bumped it up to 60 and was amazed by how much smoother the game performed. I then bumped it up as high as it would go to 75. I guess the reason for the longevity of the monitor was probably that I operated it at such a low frequency for so long. Once I set it up to 75, it was about 2 weeks after that when it died.

Earlier this year I bought a new monitor. Was specifically looking for something that would perform the best with a game like Q2, so from what I read, it sounded like a TN panel was the way to go. I had been using an IPS panel I borrowed from a family member, and even though the rate went up to 60hz, it was "ghosting" and blurring really bad when playing Q2. Since I had such good luck with a Benq brand monitor, I decided to look there first.

Didn't take long. Found one that was a TN panel, 27 inch, max 165hz, 1080p, 250 bucks.

This thing is great for Q2. 100-120hz is more than fast enough to perform excellently with Q2, but you can set it as high as 165 if you want (if your video card allows it). I don't see much of a difference between 120 and 165 in Q2 personally. But in GTA5 on pc, 165hz is CRAZY smooth. One of the reasons I bought this was to also use it with an Xbox Series X, whenever I can manage to find one. Supposedly the GPU's in them are good enough to run high levels of ray tracing at 120fps, and the HDMI input on this monitor is supposed to be Xbox Series X compatible.

https://zowie.benq.com/en-us/monitor/xl2731k.html

If anybody knows of a good IPS monitor that DOESN'T blur and performs as well as a TN panel, let me know.

I am glad Houston sent NY packing.

I will be pulling for the Phillies to beat the cheating Astros.

I kinda wanted NY to feel the disappointment of losing the world series... but now that I think about it, perhaps getting 1 opponent away from it and then getting swept out in 4 is a little MORE disappointing for them, hehe.

And if the silent black and white one isn't quite cheesy enough, they have the 1979 Werner Herzog directed remake called Nosferatu the Vampyre starring the creepy-as-hell Klaus Kinski. Never seen this one either. Might as well add this one to my "To Watch" list. I expect it'll suck (most Klaus Kinski movies do), but at least it's something I haven't seen before.

Nosferatu The Vampyre (1979) -
https://tubitv.com/movies/269897/nosferatu-the-vampyre

Finished watching this one last night. If you've ever seen it... MY GOD, ALL THE RATS! Where the hell did they find that many rats!?! Rats EVERYWHERE! How did the actors not get diseases from all the rats?

Also, the girl who played Lucy, Isabelle Adjani...

...looks like Joni Durian from all the cheesy Henrique Couto directed movies.

It was actually not too bad. One of the less "hokey" feeling Dracula movies I've ever seen. Genuinely creepy. I think Klaus Kinski did a great job in this one. This is one I wouldn't mind seeing again at some point down the road.

AGH! Houston just spit some Texas chaw all over the Yankees dreams. :D Swept them 4 to 0 in the ALCS.

2022 World Series - Houston Astros vs Philadelphia Phillies

1st game is Friday night, 8pm eastern, Fox.
