That's fucking awesome!!  Kind of like taking a multi vitamin pack while on acid.  I've never taken acid, just shrooms and I do know the vitamin pack made the drug impact me a TON stronger.  I dunno if there is science to back this up or maybe because I thought it would, the placebo effect made it happen.   Either way, I might eat a few slices of mango daily now.  Thanks Sigma.

That doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Unless the bars and restaurants are actually the ones purchasing the homemade bathtub gin (or whatever the fuck it is), then there's no danger in selling name brand liquor in licensed establishments. Liquor manufacturers aren't gonna sell shoddy shit because they KNOW the dangers of it and won't risk a lawsuit, so they have pretty stringent quality control measures in place.

Stupid thing about it is... you can get sick and die from a bad batch of beer or wine too. Chances are greater it'll be a bacterial thing rather than methanol poisoning since distillation condenses much of the water out and concentrates the methyl alcohol, but it's still possible to get methanol poisoning from beer and wine. It doesn't take much at all. So why aren't they banning beer and wine sales too? It's not like it's hard to trace where it came from. Someone gets sick, you ask them where they drank. If a bunch of people all went to the same bar the night before and show up at the hospital complaining of headaches, stomach aches, blindness, etc, then you know where to go to find the offenders buying bootleg untaxed illegal liquor and you shut them down.

Btw, last year when we went camping to Wisconsin, we went to buy some hard liquor to the city (all regular stores were closed) and the bar sold us a bottle of vodka under the counter, the shit inside the bottle was technical ethanol, the one they use in the cars for engine parts, surprisingly we did not even get poisoned (Russian blood I guess), but went absolutely nutts! Huge red eyes, inadequate, got into a fight and shit, so you never now.

Speaking of American bars, the regular beers, most popular, are complete shit: bud, bud light, miller, etc. a load of cheap synthetic shit! It is surprising how that donkey piss is so popular, great marketing I guess

100% pure ethanol is not poisonous unless you drink too much and get common alcohol poisoning, which you can get from drinking some 40% alcohol Jack Daniels if you funnel the shit down fast enough before you pass out. Ethanol (ethyl alcohol) is proper beverage alcohol, and it's in beer, wine, and spirits. It's also suitable to use as motor vehicle fuel since the fumes will ignite, however, because it burns at a lower temperature than gasoline and is typically less than 100% pure ethanol (meaning it has a little water in it), it doesn't burn as efficiently as gasoline and you won't get the same MPG out of it. Methanol (methyl alcohol) on the other hand, is definitely NOT proper beverage alcohol, and it's poisonous enough to cause death in moderate amounts if it's concentrated. Methanol is what is commonly used in antifreeze, and lots of people with dead cats will tell you it's DEFINITELY not something you want to drink.

In the distillation of mash/beer for drinking alcohol, sometimes small amounts of methanol results. Anyone who is bootlegging whiskey will tell you that the first several ounces of liquid coming off the drip is what you want to throw out because it's usually what contains the most methanol. Depending on the types and purity of ingredients you use in the mash that you plan on distilling, you will get varying amounts of methanol. Problem is... some people (people meaning IDIOTS) not knowing any better will use some industrial ethanol that they bought to strengthen their shit, and THAT is BAD. The shit that you buy for industrial purposes ALWAYS has methanol added to it, which is really the only way they can sell it without having to pay alcohol taxes... otherwise people would buy that to drink and it'd be cheaper than a bottle of vodka and the government wouldn't get any tax benefit from it.

And concerning shitty American beer:

American mass produced beers like Budweiser and Miller are made with probably 1/10th to 1/20th the amount of hops per barrel than European brews. They will also typically use a little more malt in the fermentation process. During fermentation, the little yeast gremlins will consume the starches and sugars in the hops, barley, and malt, and will break it down to form ethyl alcohol. Since shitty American beer brewers don't want to spend the money on hops, they use the cheaper malt in it's place to produce the same amount of ethanol. And after all of it ferments, it's not like the hops and barley and malt is completely gone and consumed, it's still there. And that's where most of the flavor comes from. Sooooo... you start with less hops, and the end result is a beer that tastes like watered down malty piss. But a lot Americans don't really seem to mind, many of them only drink for the alcohol, not the taste, so they don't give a fuck what it tastes like. They get so accustomed to it that when they actually drink a decent beer with the proper amount of hops in it, it tastes too bitter for them since hops tend to have a somewhat bitter flavor.
