My favorite lines are 2 jokes that generally go unnoticed from that movie.

1st is "The most famous of which is never get involved in a land war in Asia"

2nd is from the same scene. Wesley establishes that iocane powder is among the most deadly poisons in the world and then he explains away that he has some how built up an immunity over time.

Surrogates 8/10

It was a good movie and was worth watching, but in the end it was just a better version of I Robot. The other thing that left a bad taste in my mouth was the plot. It was weak. It was complete but very weak. Basically there are two mystery plots that Bruce Willis has to follow. One plot spawns the other plot but it's not for a solid reason and it seems way too rushed. Maybe if it took a week of movie time to formulate and execute the second plot rather than a single day, then it would have been solid.

Also in order for the plot to continue they needed specific people to no longer have surrogates, so the events that caused these specific people to not have them were incredibly contrived. Each contrived event on it's own would have been easily chalked up to chance or bad luck. But the total amount of them made it extremely unlikely, and for a plot to hinge on a circumstance that is unlikely when compared to the rules and background that it has already setup, it is just weak in my opinion.

It was big budget. It had a lot of neato scenes and for these two reasons it doesn't get a 2.

The plot sucked. The acting was....questionable at best. The story just really didn't go anywhere at all. I hope the real year of 2012 turns out better than this.

The Echelon Conspiracy ?/10

It was a decently generic movie but it was so riddled with half-logic and stupid dialog that I don't know what to think. Basically the underlying plot of the movie is that the American government made some kind of evil decision that affects the whole world, and it took the Russian government to finally set us straight.

Distrust of the CIA is perfectly normal, especially for movie plots, but if you expect the audience believe that the Russian government is the moral compass for the world to follow then... you know this kind of complete ignorance from these writers has no comparison. I mean seriously? Did you choose Russia because you were unable to find any North Koreans to play the part?

Saw this documentary on Google Video about the making and deployment of the first nucleur bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945. It gives you a better perspective on the time and the reasons for the decision-making. 1 hour and 30 minutes long:

Saw VI 2/10

This is the 4th movie based on a single scene at the beginning of Saw 3. Seriously, when you make 4 sequels about adding events, characters, and evidence to the same scene that weren't there originally then you can't accomplish a good movie. It's like trying to make a cake out of a cow pattie. Sure you can make it look like a cake but that doesn't mean that anyone want's to eat it.

Stepfather (remake) 7.5/10

It was slow and generic and predictable but it set up a very good atmosphere. I actually felt paranoid after the movie was over. Not that I expect those actions to ever happen in real life, but the cold, calculating, and eventually volatile nature of the Stepfather was very unsettling. The movie as a whole wasn't great but the mood of the movie was perfect.


Valentines Day 9/10

Extreme ROM-COM so this is one of those things you may or may not get dragged to. Once you get passed the incredibly girly nature of the movie it is a decent oddball comedy. It's almost like a Leslie Nielson film. Everything is just silly and over the top in order to grab a laugh. It takes itself much more seriously than the typical Leslie Nielson film and never breaks the 4th wall so it's not exactly like one. It just spares no expense for a laugh, no matter how cheap.

And before you say: "It's the 19th, what took you so long to see a movie named Valentine's Day?" I just have one thing to say to you... I have kids, It's freaking Valentine's day when the babysitter says it's Valentines day!

Law Abiding Citizen. 7/10

Heard very little about this movie. Just finished watching it. Story of a man who's wife and daughter are murdered in a home invasion. Jamie Foxx is the asst DA who cuts a deal with the murderer who sells out his partner for a short sentence. The man who's family is slain (Butler) witnesses the DA shaking hands with the guy who killed his family and appears to set out for vigilante justice against the two men involved in the home invasion murder.

I thought it was just going to play out that he gets his revenge then tries to elude the justice department. It's sooooo much more. Butler's character is far more than just a man whose justice is pawned off to get a high conviction rate and is seeking revenge. It's worth the rental.

The Invention Of lying 2/10

Boring, unfunny, and tries WAY too hard. Not only does it try way too hard to be serious, but it takes it's own plot and characters serious as a drama but it makes absolutely no effort to take it's own gimmick serious. The idea is that in a world with no lying there would be no jokes, imagination, fiction novels, or religion, yet the dialog is filled with hyperbole, metaphors, similes, sarcasm, and common phrases. The movie goes so far as to exclude anything based on imagination to an extreme that hurts the overall film for the sake of being true to it's gimmick, yet it misses so much of that exact same thing in the dialog. So the writers really should have decided to either go the whole way or not bother. I mean it was supposed to be a comedy. It really isn't a comedy by any stretch of the imagination, and as far as drama's go it's about as uninteresting and boring as it goes. It also doesn't pass as either fantasy or sci-fi for all of the reasons mentioned above.

It just didn't have anything worth enjoying. There are maybe 2 funny jokes and they are both related to Coke and Pepsi advertisements. I recommend avoiding this one and to just watch Galaxy Quest. It's like a few other extremely overrated movies the past few years; it's a subplot from another, better, movie and it doesn't even do it as well as that sub plot.

Grace ?/10

This movie is essentially about the ins and outs of having a vampire baby. There's a lot of mixed messages that are too much to go into detail. Overall it's well made in that it is completely down to earth. Well everything is down to earth except for the vampire baby. The main focus of the film is a character already suffering from depression, postpartum depression, and sleep deprivation from being a new mother. On top of this, an equally crazy mother-in-law does some really messed up things.

It's not really about having a Vampire baby and the events of that vampire. It's more about a believable portrayal of a new mother unable to care for herself with the added burden of taking care of a vampire. It takes itself completely seriously, and believe it or not, that works out for this film.

Do not watch this unless you've been through and are genuinely interested in the birthing process and also don't mind insanely horrific things added to that process. Also, all the dude's out there should avoid this one. Even if you have kids, there is little you can do to relate to a movie about nursing vampires.
