I also liked the Allman Brothers Midnight Rider at the opening credits when he stabs that lady to death after she gets out of the car. Southern rock is teh win.

THe part I'm referring to is when the cop comes to the house and finds a bunch of cheerleaders in the shed. As he comes out into the yard, i forget what happens but the main character(blonde long hair guy, forgot his name) gets him on his knees while pointing a gun to his head. Its like a 1 minute long scene of him just standing there pointing the gun at him as its slowly zooming out before he actually shoots him. It was either freebird playing or comepletely silent with no music. Dont remember, that shit was a long time ago.

Just saw Devil's Rejects a few days ago. You're talking about house of 1000 corps. I haven't seen that for quite some time, but I'm pretty sure that that movie did not use classic rock. Devil's Rejects is about the brother of that cop avenging his death. There is a scene where the cop from Devil's Rejects is killed, but it is right before the Hail of bullets/road block scene and I'm pretty sure he was standing up.

Plot was paper thin. Horrible movie. Plus it's entire existence is an excuse to prove that black women can beat up white women when "she touches her man! *snap* *snap*". I'm sure it will win some award because it's racism that hollywood agrees with.

Against the ropes - 10/10

loved this film, a big fan of underdog to top dog films anyway, but omar epps is awesome and meg ryan was great in this, combined with the fact its a boxing film makes for a perfect 2 hours of watching.

Just saw 'District 9' last week. 9/10

Very cool movie I thought. It's what science fiction is supposed to be; the story could have easily been a short by Asimov himself (referencing Asimov's 'Pebble in the Sky' which I just read). Vaguely reminiscent of 'Enemy Mine' which is one of the best science fiction movies of all time.

Peter Jackson grew up in SA, and this story has been a pet project of his since his early days in film school. Great commentary on humanity, and a very personal story, the kind that almost never gets made in Hollywood these days, especially in sci-fi. The movie delivers on action, effects, story and theme. It fails with a few plot contrivances, but I extended poetic license to Jackson on this one (a la Star-Trek). Definitely worth a viewing.

The first Rob Zombie Haloween remake was pretty good..it had a realstic feel, and if you like that it's probably 7/10.

I prefer horror flicks like "the shining" and "hostel", all the Steven King movies are really good imo. I wish there was more horror movies like that, and less blood and guts, not that hostel didn't have blood and guts.

The new Jason sucked.

Time to grab some audio books to take a long ride to a funeral

"A Spike Lee joint"

Spike Lee can shove this joint up his asshole. Horrible. Great performance from the actors, but a positively shitty story. I would've rated it a 0/10, but smokin' hot Mira Sorvino and Jennifer Esposito starring in the film gave it a slight degree of watchability. Spike Lee is just a completely overrated director as far as I'm concerned. Dead Presidents was a decent movie, but everything else he's ever done has been pure shit.

Shit the bed, plethora of awesome films on TV lately.

Take the lead - 8/10, antonio banderos is excellent and it was an amusing, smile-worthy film just a little cliché on the whole dance movie underdawgs thing.

Sin City - 10/10. I didn't think id enjoy this but loved it from start to finish, fantastic film and very different from your average movie. The way the movie was made is wicked, highlighting only the important parts with color.. great stuff.

Hell yeah. I wasn't too terribly enamored with Frank Miller's graphic novel, it was okay, but this movie was the PERFECT screen adaptation to really make the whole story pop.

Another graphic novel I wish they'd bring to the screen is the old Grendel: War Child story from Matt Wagner. Famed artist Simon Bizley did some awesome cover artwork for the first 3 or 4 issues of the 10 part series.

Last House on the Left (remake) 6.5/10 - It was fun to see the good guys beat up the badguys, but they didn't do the whole torturing thing enough to bring home the point of the film. It ended up just ending like a generic thriller with 2 people fighting in a house using available blunt objects as weapons. The rape scene was also COMPLETELY unnecessary. As if they were trying way too hard to make you hate the badguys.

Passangers 7/10 - Interesting but billed as a conspiracy thriller. Had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with that genre. Once you get over that, it was a pretty good "light hearted drama" movie.
