What surprises me is even when he has the benefit of NOT getting smashed in the face, he still loses.

Don't get me wrong, the Gracies seem to be excellent "teachers" of BJJ, but I just don't think any of them are really cut out for todays high level full contact MMA competition. Obviously it was just clever marketing. You slap the Gracie name on anything MMA related and it's gonna steal LOTS of attention. Like... this conversation.

I saw the fight, mainly just out of morbid curiosity. I never watch boxing anymore no matter who it is, and wouldn't have watched this one either if there hadn't been so much press and build-up to it. I knew beforehand that it was probably going to be a let down for anyone hoping to see an exciting fight. If anything, watching it refamiliarized me with the format of championship boxing, which gives me all the more reason to never watch another fight again. Championship bouts are 12 rounds I think. And that sounds grueling and brutal, except for the fact that each round is only 3 minutes long (whereas UFC rounds are 5mins), but really more like 2mins 45seconds long when you take into account that the fighters don't do shit for the first 10-15 seconds when the next round bell rings. It just doesn't hold a candle to the excitement and competition in high-level MMA, not at all. Fuck boxing. UFC is boxing... plus A HUNDRED OTHER styles all at the same time.

Considering what they charged for tickets to the fight, as well as the ridiculous higher-than-usual price of the PPV, I hope a few of these screwballs actually win a settlement. Mayweather set this whole thing up trying to make an unwarranted obscene amount of money by any means necessary.

Mayweather might be smart when it comes to making money with his skill set, but he just undermined the whole sport's chance to become mainstream again. I read some of twitter and watched a few vlogs after that fight and found that people were pissed off at the fight. People felt ripped off for paying the high ppv fee to watch a fight that was billed as the "match of the century" and not getting enough action in the fight. Non-fans were hoping to watch a slugfest but instead they watched one guy run away the entire fight, and hug his opponent when he couldn't defend. That's not what non-fans expect to happen in a boxing match.

But to be fair, non-fans should of expected this. Many websites accurately predicted how the fight would go down and that it wouldn't be as entertaining as the hype was leading people to believe so.

I think boxing is done. The sport could change its rules, like penalizing excessive hugging, but I don't think the sport will get two epic fighters again and the right kind of drama to reignite mainstream interest in the sport again.

I got Old High School Buddy who FIGHTS in UFC Tournaments Against Other people Serious Shit He is Fucking Good to I Assume never seen him fight actually But Know He Looks Low-Body Fat And I got Low-Body Fat Or well I had Lower-Body and when bOXERS got that they Tend to be faster like in higher weight classes against More BOdy-fatted fighters in same weight class they just exercise And Eating Different is what it's All About Really AND 50% it is all Genetics at Work some people just don't get Abs cuz there body insists on storing last bit of healthy 8-12% Body fat you need as an adult less then 12% as a growing teenager is probably Not to Good.

I didn't see Frankie v Faber but Edgar won like you'd think. It was an interesting catchweight at least.

Weidman v vitor and Johnson cormier in the same night sounds cool. Bot have potential so at least we'll have one pretty good fight to watch. Middleweight championship is more promising

Me either. I was still in bed conked out when it was supposed to start at 10am, which is a stupid time to have it, but it was in Manilla or some shit, so whatever. By the time I got outta bed, it was like 11:30 I think and I didn't wanna have to miss the first few fights so I figured I'd just d/l it from piratebay later that night. But then when I looked on TPB, no one had it posted. Didn't check again.

Was gonna try at some point to check back and see if it ever got posted, but... you just spoilereded it.

Dunno what happened to Faber between WEC and UFC. Back in WEC, he looked a lot more energetic, aggressive, and formidable. Can't recall the last time I saw him actually win a fight in the UFC.

As for Johnson vs Cormier, meh. Dunno what happened with Jon Jones, but I guess he got the belt taken away due to failed drug tests for coke, maybe other substances too, right? Regardless, neither Johnson nor Cormier will have truly "earned" the title once one of them wins it. Cormier got shut down by Jones in a unanimous decision win not too long ago, and I think Johnson would've fared even worse against Jones. If/when Jones gets back into it, it won't be long before he's the champ again. Personally, if they were gonna have a fight for the title in Jones absence, I think it should've been Cormier vs Gustavson. Mauler Gustavson lost his fight against Jones, but he put a hellacious beating on him in the process. Worst I've ever seen Jones look after a fight. Dude looked like he got jumped by 10 skinheads in prison.

But, it still has a better chance than a lot of match-ups.

Chris Weidman beat silva in two, not controversial, but many thought that he got off easy in those two fights. Then he beat machida in a fairly straight-forward match. Vitor sort of is the last guy he has to beat to prove that he's the best currently in the division. Before alex g. gave jones his biggest beat down, I recall vitor stepping up a weight class and giving j jones his biggest scare. Belfort is very good and well aware this is his last shot at a belt. I think weidman has it but, vitor is legit.

Vitor Belfort wouldn't get lucky with an armbar like that twice on Jones though. By his own admission, Jones had neglected his BJJ training in the few camps before that happened. It woke his ass up to the fact that he needed to keep fresh and studious with it as much as standing or in a clinch. And honestly, Belfort SHOULD have won that fight by armbar, but he just didn't wanna pull it back far enough to bust his elbow. He was trying to be professional and not give him a potentially career ending injury... but he should've just done it. Belfort even asked him after the fight why he didn't tap. Jones had every intention fighting out of it or having a broken arm, but there was no way he was gonna tap. Dumb move on Jones part. Anybody else would've ripped his arm off. Belfort happens to have enough class and sportsmanship not to intentionally mangle someone like that.

Well... looks like a lot of people are washed up since UFC has cracked down on PED's and started doing more thorough testing. I dunno the particulars about the drug testing they do, but I also notice that TJ Dillashaw doesn't have quite as much ENDLESS energy as he used to. I'm hoping the rematch with him and Barao FINALLY happens at the end of July... if Barao doesn't have "issues" again.

Really really really really really really really really super bummed about Aldo having to pull out of the fight with Connor McGregor. That shit was gonna be amazing. But for anyone who STILL thinks McGregor doesn't deserve a title shot, beating Chad Mendes "should" settle that argument. Even without Aldo, McGregor vs Mendes is still gonna be a great war to watch.

I've never been a McGregor fan despite being mostly Irish, but I've been coming around. I like Chad Mendes, and after hearing McGregor talk differently and kind of gassed at the weigh in, I think Mendes is going to KO him. McGregor is a lightweight, not featherweight.
