cung le v. cote was the best fight of the night and it wasn't great or anything. ortiz griffin could have been worse I guess, and the best prelims with that weird cisco looking dude that wore a speedo at the weigh-in... I think he was fighting fabrico? that one wasn't so bad either.

very disappointing that silva's 1-2 decent strikes APPARENTLY threw sonnen off so much to the extent that he did a spinning elbow and slipped. It was even a mistake when he hesitated while down and chose to take a defensive position while on his back opposed to scrambling back up instantly...

maybe rigged, maybe not, either way it was out of character for sonnen and very disappointing being that a 5 round championship ended in the first half of the 2nd round like that.

Could've swore I saw one of the trainers intentionally spilling some water from a water bottle inside the cage before the fight started. Wouldn't put it past someone to use such a shitty tactic.

I thought the Griffin-Ortiz fight was the best of the night personally. I was a little stunned that the judges gave the win to Forrest Griffin. Sure, he was throwing more strikes and looked to be the aggressor most of the fight, but Ortiz knocked him on his ass 2 or 3 times with some legit hits, don't think Griffin really got the same effect from any of his attempts... and after watching some of the post-fight recaps, he did land quite a few HARD hits that amazed me they didn't put Ortiz's lights out. You watch Griffin's stance, and his right leg was always planted pretty far behind his body to get some extra push-off power for his punches. He may not be the most devastating puncher in his weight class, but he does have a lot of power, and when he can pummel someone with that many strikes all night, it's easy to see how he's so successful.

ah, well.. I was stunned how the judges scored it, but I think griffin won. From what I remember it was unanimous 30-27 across the board, and tito barely won the 2nd round so that was kind of silly. I don't think he did the first and the 3rd he needed 20 more seconds to the clock, THEN he could have taken that round as well... but the 10 seconds of control he had wasn't enough for me to give it to him, or at least that's how I feel. Griffin won, but the judges were definitely wrong.

ortiz had the best 2 or 3 hits of the match, and although the judges scored it improperly AND griffin didn't do anything GREAT or anything, tito still needed a little bit more to take it.

Most corners do this...the fighter then wipes the bottoms of his/her feet and gets better traction. Water or blood on the blue part of the cage mat is fine. When it's on an area with a graphic or advertising, then it is slippery.

UFC=WWF. Henderson gets hurt leaves card. Then Sonnen steps up, Jones declines. Machida is picked as next best fighter to get a shot, HE then declines. Shogon is offered the fight, declines. Now hes fighting fucking washed up Vitor Belfort. I mean 8 days isnt alot of time to prepare to fight but bones should of just fought Sonnen. Drama like this makes me think the UFC cards are fixed to sell tickets and further advance a money making fighter.

so they are gonna fight in 29 days. This fight is a joke anyways belfort cant hang with jones. He used to be a beast way back when, but no doubt he will get beat down. Im losing faith in the ufc as a legit fighting competition. I personally think people fake injuries to cycle roids/trt. Im sure hendo got hurt, but honestly who knows whats going down. I for one elect boxing to lose the giant pillows on there fists lol. id watch.

Ehh.. ufc is just in a slump right now. Machida v. Jones II was a legit match-up, although the cancellation of ufc 151 in general is pretty lame.

In bantam you have Barao dominating, cruz is going to get wrecked by him when/if he comes out of injury...nothing big there.

Frankie dropped down to feather so, him v. aldo will be sort of cool being that I've always thought aldo was overrated(when people compare him with the likes of pierre, j.jones, and silva...lol). So I'm hoping and thinking frankie will rape him. Dana white says Edgar will prob. only have to fight 1 featherweight fight before he gets his title shot.

Lightweight will be cool if someone steps up to fight henderson.

I would love to see silva drop down to 170 and fight GSP like he's been thinking. Despite silva being favored or not, I want GSP to tap that ass.

J. jones v. sonnen would have been better to watch than belfort yeah, but I was in agreement with machida having another shot. Sucks he refused.

Personally, I want to see more Roy Nelson and Matt Riddle action, haha. In light heavy, I think Boestch v. Griffin should happen then hopefully the winner won't get overlooked as a possible dude to fight J.Jones(bones is likely going to wreck anyone... but... just saying).

Guess that just about concludes my random thoughts about ufc currently.

UFC 155 tonight! Prelims about to begin on FX (8pm EST). PPV with main fights starts at 10pm. Holler at me in #tastyspleen, #ir, or #nadl if you need a link to a stream. Hopefully the site I use will work worth a shit tonight. Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez is gonna be THE SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!

Holy shit, if you missed this PPV, you missed one of the best UFC's of the year. Even the prelims before the PPV started had some great action. I think the Melvin Guillard vs Jamie Varner fight was the next to last prelim fight before the PPV started, but that fight was good enough that it should've ended up on the PPV card instead of the Yushin Okami vs Alan Belcher fight. That one was kinda predictably anti-climactic as Okami hasn't been too good at pounding opponents and finishing them once he takes them down lately. But Guillard vs Varner was a really good matchup. Very closely matched fighters, both with good stamina and cardio, both were trading some great shots and giving a great show.

Fight of the night definitely had to be the co-main event, Jim Miller vs. Joe Lauzon. Miller came out from the start of the first just raining unholy Hell on Joe Lauzon, grabbing the back of his head with his right hand and just mutilating him the other. Miller's left was coming in hard and often with a flurry of vicious jabs, uppercuts, hooks, elbows and a few times he'd try dragging his head down and making him eat knees. By the end of the first, Lauzon looked like someone had just murdered his face with a baseball bat. Fucking blood EVERYWHERE. They finally brought it down to the mat in the 2nd and you could see the blood just gushing out of Lauzons face and making big pools on the mat under his head. And the motherfucker just KEPT ON COMING! Miller did everything but pull out a fucking shotgun and shoot him and he just kept stepping forward trying to deliver some shots of his own. By the last 2 minutes of the round 3, he damn near pulled off about 3 submission attempts even after getting just brutally hammered. He might've had that last weird ass-backwards guillotine choke he managed to get on Miller if he would've had another 30 seconds, Miller was definitely starting to get the short end of it by the end of the 3rd. I got a whole new respect for Joe Lauzon after that fight. Dude's like the fucking Terminator. Shoot him, blow him up, drop a semi truck on him, and he just gets up and keeps on coming. He's a fucking ANIMAL!

Main event wasn't quite as interesting as I'd hoped it would be. I thought it was gonna be a pretty close fight, but it turned out to be more or less just Velasquez giving a stubborn Junior Dos Santos a prison beatdown for 5 rounds and punishing him for knocking him out the first time they met. I kinda got the feeling midway through the 2nd round that Cain Velasquez didn't really WANT to finish Dos Santos off immediately, he wanted to keep him alive so he could keep whooping his ass for all 5 rounds and inflict a cruel beating on him.

UFC 157 tonight. Should be... interesting?... I suppose that's the word I'm looking for. Tonight's the first PPV in UFC history feature women competing for a title in the main event slot. On one hand, it could be fucking awesome to see two women slugging it out for 5 rounds. On the other hand, most of the womens MMA fights I've ever seen have been pretty boring. At least they have Lyoto Machida and Dan Henderson in the co-main event, that one should be worth watching.
