95%, yeah. I'm not a Derrick Lewis fan really, but I know off-the-charts power when I see it. He's got it, and it's a game changer. When a heavyweight has power THAT devastating, he can always have a better than a fair chance against absolutely anyone. All it takes is one good shot thrown back at an opponent moving in for the kill and it completely changes the direction of the fight. Nah, Lewis ain't a well rounded fighter at all, but with that kinda power, he can get away with it. I've been saying it since Lewis' first fight in the UFC... Don't be surprised if he takes the title one day. Of all the UFC heavyweights in the whole history of the UFC, he looks to be in the #1 spot for deadliest punching power ever. The nickname Black Beast ain't no joke.

I didn't know I was black either. Or maybe the cameras they're using at the jail are just really bad.
I've recently switched from roll-your-own American Spirit to packs of Marlboro ultra lights, but when I used to stop in at the discount tobacco shop every 3 or 4 weeks to pick up a can of rolling tobacco, I'd always flip through the monthly mugshot newspaper sitting by the register and laugh at the pictures. I swear, I think they've done extensive scientific research to find the worst cameras in the world that make people look as unflatteringly horrible as possible.

As much as I'm tired of "big name" people cutting in line in front of title contenders, I still am looking forward to this fight. I won't keep my hopes too high.. the match up has potential to be good and also to disappoint. We'll see.

It's pretty obvious why he retired. He didn't wanna lose, and he knew within the next one or two defenses he WOULD, which is why he agreed to the fight against a weak Hendricks who didn't have his KO power anymore. All of his title defenses were 5 round wars, including the last one. I think he saw the kinda talent that was coming up in the UFC to challenge him and decided it was better to go out on top rather than lose the belt and then try and fail multiple times to get it back like Anderson Silva.
I don't like it. He should stay the fuck retired. Ever since Bisping got the belt, he's only defended it once against (like in GSP's situation) a weaker older past-his-prime Dan Henderson. I'd much prefer to see Bisping defend his title against someone who will stick around to keep fighting and keep defending the belt if they beat him. Because if GSP wins, you know it's gonna be another 5 round war he'll win by decision where his face looks it's been hammered with a cheese grater afterwards... and then he'll wave at the crowd and say goodbye for the last time... again. Same shit, different day. SNOOOOOOOOOZE.

If he comes back and wins 5 round battles all do to points and spacing around his opponent scoring take downs when possible than good for that older sob!! I would laugh my ass OFF if he were able to do that to Romero, rockhold or jacare. I'd have to see it to believe it too. But, we all know bisping is a paper champ which is why it's a decent match up for gsp. He actually has a legitimate shot opposed to those other names.

Rockhold's a big tall dude with a decent amount of power behind his punches, but he's never been a highly smart fighter. He tends to end up trying to push forward on guys too much even when he starts off smart, maintaining distance while looking for counters. That's how Bisping was able to beat him out of the title to begin with. Honestly, I think GSP would be more successful against Rockhold than Bisping. Yoel Romero and Ronaldo Souza are kinda similar to each other - really strong dudes with tons of power who tend to get gassed by the 3rd round. Souza has much better grappling and submissions though. I don't think a GSP even back in his prime could handle someone like Souza today. Unless something really crazy happens, I see Souza taking the title pretty soon.

Uh.... yeah, there'd be some blood on the pavement if that were my classic Vette. I live right up the road from the Year One muscle car parts factory, so I see plenty of badass classics riding through town a lot. And I'm far enough out from Atlanta that the traffic ain't too bad usually and people drive sane for the most part. But I saw some dude riding around in a beautiful '52 Thunderbird in traffic in Roswell last weekend, which is a northern Atlanta suburb. I was thinking to myself... "Shiiiiiiiiit, he's playing chicken with fate driving that thing around all THESE assholes." Because you can drive as safe and cautious as you want, but you're helpless to stop some dickhead in a Tahoe from rear-ending you when he's busy texting instead of driving.
But to get back on topic, just watched last nights UFC 209. Darren fuckin' Elkins man! Dude was getting the HOLY HELL beat out of him in the 1st round. By the end of the first round, his entire face was a blood covered mangled mess. He looked like a raw bloody steak. Took a screenshot of a brief part where you could see the worst gash over his eye.
Then comes back in the closing minute of the 3rd and final round to win by legit KO. Awesome!
I'd say he's gonna be out a while. By the end of the fight, his speech was very very slurred and he was acting kinda funny. Might've sustained some brain damage from the savage beating he took in the 1st round.

Comain:
Gegard knees Weidman and it's borderline whether it was legal or not. Weidman was stunned. They review it, despite not being allowed to review it by NY rules. Then they just say "tko win for gegard" based off the review after they see his finger was an inch off the ground.
Main:
Cornier cheats at the weigh in by letting a tight towel take some of the weight of his arm. Johnson issues a statement that it is no big deal and that he doesn't care. Johnson then shows he really didn't care by doing the complete opposite of what he should disregarding everything his coaches say
http://mmajunkie.com/2017/04/ufc-210-anthony-johnson-corner-shocked-wrestling-daniel-cormier
... Then Johnson retires after.
Needless to say if I were to have paid for this card, I would've been pissed.

The post-fight interview with DC summed it up though. Rumble Johnson's base is in wrestling, and he instinctively went to it. I don't think his heart has been in the fight game for the past several fights. He throws hard looking to KO someone early just because he prefers to end it quick before he can get hurt. DC wasn't gonna go away quick, Johnson got frustrated and kinda gave up and went into autopilot mode. He didn't even really try to fight off the rear choke. He felt it cinch up, gave up, and tapped immediately.
You can't totally blame any fighter for wanting to quit, even when they're seemingly at their peak. Getting hit in the head repeatedly for a living leads you to be like... Dan Henderson. Jesus, that guy's been hit so many times, he could probably be declared legally retarded. And you look at old boxers like Ali and Holyfield and Foreman. That's what you have to look forward to in your golden years after the fight game is over. You shuffle around, drooling out of one side of your mouth, pissing your pants occasionally, forgetting where you are, etc. It's like self-induced dementia. Who the fuck needs that shit? If that's his choice, I respect it for sure, probably moreso than when guys refuse to call it quits (can you say BJ Penn?).
And if that's how Anthony Johnson is gonna approach MMA competition, then it's really better for everyone if he just steps down. He's occupying room at the top where another competitor who would take the game 100% seriously could be sitting. And with the way the ranking system is playing into who gets title fights and fights with other top 10 contenders, there NEEDS to be some shit like that to shake things up and create some movement around the top of the heap. Shit's becoming stagnant and boring. Glover Teixeira is still top 10. Really? Fucking retire already, old man! You're done!
As for the Moussasi vs Weidman fight, yeah, that was a shitty way to end it. But that's the New York State Athletic Commission for you. Actually, that's ANYWHERE
BUT
Las Vegas for you. I cringe every time the UFC goes outside of Vegas, because inevitably there's some kinda fuck up with the way the judges score important fights. Either they swing their vote in favor of their personal favorites, or they show local/national favoritism to the point where the visiting fighter MUST either finish the fight or win every round with what even the most novice UFC fan could call a 10-8 round.
Hopefully Moussasi and Wiedman get a rematch in Vegas or something. Moussasi has been taking out everyone in his path for a while now, and he deserves to gain a pathway into the upper ranks.

Well sure I can sympathize with him. And I agree. I really like rumble as a fighter a lot, which contributes to the disappointment of him wasting his energy grappling(other than 2 exchanges) with the ultimate wrestler/grappler of that division when everyone knows he's explosive with his punch power in the first round more so.
It's why I said he didn't care, and I'd have been pissed if I paid for that card given the main and comain. All the while Dana white talks about what a huge success it was and how lucrative it was.
About DC and him cheating at the weigh in. Normally a point would be "it was only a pound, he's made weight every time his whole life, and at least the championship bout wasn't ruined. Who cares". But it ended up sucking anyway and I sure as hell would've rather seen khabib rest his arms on a towel to keep that fight with ferguson alive opposed to torturing himself than that bullshit on Saturday night. Yes, the NY commission sucks.
I heard the UFC wants 80% of Conor 's purse for the mayweather fight. Can Mcgregor PLEASE go to bellator after filling his pockets just to piss them off??!

If McGregor and Mayweather fight, I wonder if Mayweather will clinch and hug up with McGregor constantly just to piss him off to the point where he forgets it's a boxing match and McGregor tries to knee him or take him down, haha!
I don't think I'd even want to watch that fight. The UFC has built up Connor McGregor to be some kinda martial arts master, and he's not. He's still not a black belt in BJJ yet, and his ground game is pretty flawed. Much like Holly Holm, he was gifted an express lane to a title fight simply because the UFC saw it as profitable. He got the featherweight title from Jose Aldo on what was, let's face it, a lucky punch. And immediately after that, he faced Nate Diaz in two just-for-the-hell-of-it exhibition matches, where he lost one by tapout, and was granted a decision win in the rematch that maybe should've gone to Diaz. Then he goes up a weight class to get an immediate title fight against the lightweight champ, which SHOULD have been Rafael dos Anjos, but they fucked around and put it off long enough making dos Anjos wait and wait and get out of practice until Eddie Alvarez finally got first crack at him and took his rusty less-than-100% ass out.
Yeah, McGregor's a terrific crafty boxer, on par with the likes of the Diaz brothers, which made those 2 exhibition matches watchable and popular. But is he "the best around", like the UFC is trying to convince everyone? I really don't think so. Honestly, I'd like to see him calm his fucking tits and stay put in one division long enough to defend a title a few times. And he definitely needs to find a way to meet back up with Joseph Duffy again for a rematch. Joseph Duffy took McGregor out back in 2010 in less than 40 seconds by tapout. And Joseph Duffy's entire game has improved massively since then.
As for Mayweather? He's a fucking boxer. He's good, yeah, but who cares. Boxing at the fame level he's reached is kinda like how shit goes in the UFC. They are not going to give Mayweather a truly dangerous opponent anymore. Because if they do, all he has to say is, "Nah, I'm busy, find someone else." The only way they can force him to fight anyone is if they find someone else like a Pacquiao who is massively famous as well to where potential sales would cause the boxing commisions to issue a title stripping ultimatum to him.
I'm surprised Bellator is still around frankly. For a brief period there, they were getting televised on SpikeTV and I was watching it weekly. But then mysteriously... it disappeared from my TV just like all the other MMA org's that went under to UFC/Zuffa LLC. Coincidence? And their division ladder competition and organization of fight scheduling was WAY more fair and reasonable than the shit the UFC does. They do shit in brackets. In Bellator, fighters see a clear path to a title, and as long as they win, they're guaranteed to move up to the next round in the bracket. Whereas in UFC, it's kinda like in boxing, shit ain't organized very well, they just propose fights to different fighters based on who's healthy and who's cleared by doctors to train. And what that leads to is exactly what is happening in UFC lately, and HAS been happening in boxing since as long as anyone can remember. The guys at the top stay there even if they lose, and they end up fighting each other over and over because it's profitable for the organization, while everyone else outside of those top guys has to sit and wait for all of them to lose to one another long enough to shuffle them out of the top of the deck and make room for someone else to move up. It's ridiculous. The only way in is for a sub-10 ranked guy to continuously rip peoples heads off with crazy KO's or talk a ridiculous amount of pig-headed smack until the media follows them around like a lost puppy dog, a la Derrick Lewis.
