sooooo much fucking season left..NO doesn't have shit locked..very good start though..thier o-line def needs work run blocking..if they beat the Bears, I will be stoked and might reconsider the lock  :raincloud:

only AFC that even looks like a title contender is Denver (toss in the Pats too because we all know Peyton like to choke in the playoffs)

and my opinion on Florida's QB situation..that Murphy kid looked way better back there than Driskel has, even though it was a small sample..I have more confidence in that guy going forward

Definitely agree, and Murphy will only get better with more experience.  He has looked good so far, but it was against lower level SEC teams.  LSU, GA, and SC will be totally different to play against.  LSU's secondary has had problems and Murphy will throw the ball downfield (unlike Driskel), that is the only reason I give FLA a slight chance.
Losing Easley for the season has hurt the FLA defense, especially against the run.  This week FLA plays Ark.  Ark is a run oriented team and so far they have put up big numbers on the ground.  Ark's competition has not been strong, so I don't really know how good they are.

Georgia now has the title for most injuries in the SEC.  :raincloud:

I thought Yesterday might be a day that Georgia could move up into title contention, but it did not work out.
#4 Ohio State & #5 Stanford had big challenges but both pulled it out at the end.  :raincloud:

Ohio St. should have easy wins until the last game against Michigan and who they play in the Big Ten Championship.
Stanford still has to play Oregon and UCLA.  So Oregon or Stanford will drop with a loss.

Clemson and FLA State still have to play, so one of them is going to take a loss (hopefully Clemson).

I would like to see FLA run the table, but I don't think that will happen and if they did, they are to far back at #18 to make a difference.  Even thou LSU's defense has looked bad, I refuse to get my hopes up for a win in Baton Rouge next week.

although maryland was undeserving of that #25 spot, FSU shutting them out outrageously got the noles some notice.

Georgia now has the title for most injuries in the SEC.  :raincloud:

I thought Yesterday might be a day that Georgia could move up into title contention, but it did not work out.

Yeah, no shit. Keith Marshall got fucked up, Bennett got taken out, Scott-Wesley went down, a few others. Georgia's defense ain't nothing special at all this year, so they gotta rely on lots of offense to win. And most of the fucking offense is injured now. I don't think the way the game in and of itself went necessarily effected Georgia's chances at playing for aNational Title. If they would've lost, then oh yeah, sure. But even if by some miracle they beat every remaining opponent in the regular season by 21 points or more, I still think it ain't gonna move them up past #6 or convince anybody that they're more deserving of the trip than any of the schools ranked ahead of them. And like I said before, the top 5 ain't gonna budge before post-season. Really at this point, the only hope they have of achieving that goal is winning every game INCLUDING the SEC Championship against a #1 Alabama, and even then it's very unlikely that they'll make it to the BCS title game. Had they beaten Clemson back in week 1... sure, they'd be in it still.

But at this point, things look pretty fucking bleak. If you watched the game, you saw what those injuries brought. In the first half before all that happened, Georgia was starting to run away with it. Afterwards... Georgia was all but fucking useless. They take on Missouri next week. Not good. When you're having problems putting away a team as usually ineffective as Tennessee is this year, you're gonna have REAL problems against a team like Missouri. Missouri ain't terrific, but they're definitely better than Tennessee.

If they could at least RUN the ball effectively, losing Bennett and Scott-Wesley at receiver might not be so horrible. But I'm guessing Marshall's done for the year. And the way Gurley rolled his ankle... I've done shit like that before, a lot of people have, it's a common injury. If you've ever done it, you know that shit hurts like HELL to walk on. At best, it'll probably be sometime in mid to late November before he can run on it again. And even then, that type of injury is highly prone to being re-injured. Probably the smartest thing for him to do would be to sit out the season and let it heal completely.

But if they can slide past Missouri next week, they get Vanderbilt afterwards, so that might be a little easier. Then after that, they get another bye week to rest up and heal. In another 3 or 4 weeks, maybe shit can be pieced back into the usual effective offense again.

I remember rolling my ankle and coming back to soon.  I rolled it again the first game back and it was far worse the second time.  They have far better methods to help the recovery now, but it still takes time.

I've rolled my left ankle alone more than 10 times likely...

shit heals and comes back like it was nothing eventually, it depends on what position they're playing.

I rolled my ankle trying to spread out bails of pine straw in my flower beds all around the house. Stepped into a hole under the straw and my ankle folded up under me. Shit hurt like FUCK! Thought I broke it at first. A little later after I stopped screaming for someone to come help me up and back in the house (of course, no one fuckin' came) and I had to CRAWL on my belly back into the house and up the stairs. The next day, it still hurt like fuck and was kinda swollen. After maybe 4 or 5 days, then it finally started bruising up and my foot was all blueish green with greenish gray toes and webby bruise patterns all over the top of my foot. Looked like a fucking zombie foot. Gross as hell looking. Took about a month and half before I could walk without a severe limp. And by then I had to get the fuck out and start mowing the yard WEEKLY with a push mower. That shit was no fun at all, especially up on the side of the dam by the fishing pond thats about a 45 degree grade.

Coach Richt confirmed today in the press conference that Scott-Wesley and Marshall are out for the year. Bennett is still unknown. Yay! Half the Falcons are out with injuries. Figured, "Well, at least I can still cheer for my Dawgs." Well, there goes that. :ohlord:

And Haunted was right. Florida State's decimation of Maryland propelled them over both Louisville and Georgia to steal #6. :mrdead: Georgia's remaining players are gonna have to step shit up and start kicking ass in order to claw back into contention. And even if they do pull off some big wins, it's not likely to impress the powers that be.

Florida State jumping Georgia really put the screws to Georgia.
The Winner of Fla St. & Clemson and the winner of Oregon & Stanford will both have to lose a game to someone else.
Ohio St. will have to lose to someone and Georgia would have to beat a #1 Alabama.
I think we have to many "Have to's" in there.
If FLA were to run the table, I will be so pissed that they turned the ball over 5 times against Miami and gave them that game.

Agreed.

It just a matter of how long before Gurley can return.  If it is a high ankle sprain, it could be a few more weeks.

Absolutely. Stranger things have happened though. If it's possible, then it's possible. "Possible" and "likely" aren't all that different, but in this case, there's a vast gulf between the two. Not getting my hopes up.

I know this is Aaron Murray's last year at Georgia, but I think it's also AJ McAaron's last year at Alabama. And I sit here looking at the Jacksonville Jaguars... and I'm thinking, "They're probably gonna end up with the worst record in the NFL this year. They'll probably end up drafting one of those two guys." And it makes me really sad for those two. They have such potential. Chances are not good at all that they'll end up like South Carolina's Ryan Mallet, being the heir apparent to the QB position behind someone like Tom Brady. It's a lot more likely that they'll either be eternal backups somewhere or they'll get stuck with a hopelessly shitty team and coaching staff like Colt McCoy was in Cleveland.

Was thoroughly impressed by Tony Romo today though. Holy shit on shingle, 500+ passing yards?!?! Damn near knocked Manning and the Broncos off the hill. I've said before that Romo's not the guy to lead the Cowboys back into Superbowl contention... but a couple more games like the one he had today and I just might change my tune.

So... bcs discussion

Lets take stanford out of the equation and assume they're going to lose to Oregon...I'm doing this partly because if they beat Oregon I think it's safe to say that clemson/FSU would be picked above them, given their respective potential scenarios.

After a bye-week FSU plays clemson, ncstate, then miami... then finish with florida a few games later. if FSU wins every one of these games, including a rematch with miami in the acc championship game, do they have a better opportunity to make a case for the bcs game than if clemson were to win all of their games, RELATIVE to Oregon? This thought interested me for several reasons.. from me wanting oregon to get a shot at bama to perhaps a team *possibly* being more deserving..

No I'm not counting lville, ohio state, or stanford out. Or well.. yeah I am sort of. Stanford slipped a little bit, but i'd mention georgia and 2 other SEC teams before I'd mention lville/osu. I wish a&m could have beaten bama, things may have turned out more interesting.

I don't think Louisville has a shot no matter what they do. Conference discrimination. Sad but true. I wouldn't say that's 100% guaranteed though... but I'd say it's 99.9% guaranteed. Everyone else ranked higher than them would have to lose miserably to some unranked team and that's never gonna happen, so might as well not even worry about them. They'd probably get a major bowl game, but not the BCS Championship, no way.

I'd say Ohio State will probably make the BCS Championship. They went completely undefeated last year, and will probably do the same this year. They weren't eligible for shit last year, but that won't keep the powers that be from letting it factor into the decision making process. Two teams go undefeated all year... one of them maybe had one or more losses last year and the other didn't lose once. Who's more worthy? There you go.
