Hmm, I just noticed that Miami was already on espn's power rankings, even if 25th. I guess they're week 1 stock was better than I thought. They'll probably be 20-20st or so even with that solitary win

A thought... With Georgia beating South Carolina yesterday, looking at who is ahead of them in the rankings and those schools schedules, even if Georgia wins every game for the rest of the year, they have little hope of breaking into the top 3 unless someone in the SEC west remains unbeaten and then Georgia beats THEM in the SEC tournament. That's pretty iffy. Alabama would have to remain #1 probably. Even if Georgia had beaten Clemson last week, I just dunno that a BCS title berth would be attainable. I dunno. Just thinking out loud.

Speaking of Georgia, how fuckin' nuts was it to see Georgia go for a surprise onside kick so early in the game, HAHAHA! I almost shit myself. But of course, they made several mistakes throughout the game to kinda nullify the fact that they recovered it... almost in that same possession too. Luckily they converted on that 4th down on that drive. Otherwise that onside kick would've been for fuckin' nothing. I swear, some of the completely stupid shit they're doing so far this year don't leave me too hopeful.

Tampa Bay 

TB has a 2 point lead and the Jets QB runs out of bounds at TB's 46 yard line with 7 seconds left.  The Jets have no timeouts so they may try one more play or they try a 63 yard field goal, so things are looking pretty good for TB.
One big problem (It's TB) so they hit the QB as he is going out of bounds and get a 15 yard penalty.  The Jets get the ball on the TB 31 and kick the winning FG with 2 seconds left.

Not the Falcons. I can't read too much into this game, it's so early for both teams and both teams have guys out with injuries.  I will say that if you hold Atlanta to 17 points with all the defensive subs, that is a big deal....even if you can only exhale after the last play. That seems to be the norm for this rivalry.

Cheap shot by Vacarro on the obviously sliding Matt Ryan. If the roles had been reversed, I'd be shouting to throw the Atlanta defensive player out.  Rookie play. I guess he made up for it on the last play by tipping the pass.

Ouch. I thought/hoped T.B. had won the game and switched channels. My logic being that the Bucs would come into the  Saints game with a small case of megalomania. Forget that - they are coming into that game MAD.

Oh, I definitely WAS. That was bullshit. The biggest bullshit part of it was when he got up after the flag flew in and looked totally flabbergasted that he got called for it. but he clearly saw that Ryan was sliding and only went that low because he knew that was the only place he could throw himself to complete a hard hit on him. Normally I wouldn't worry about hits like that,... but I've SEEN Atlanta's backups at QB. Ryan CANNOT get injured this year. If Ryan gets fucked up, stick a fork in Atlanta and call em DONE.

Coming into this year, Atlanta didn't do jack shit in preseason, but I wasn't worried at all. I knew they were stacked to the roof on offense this year probably more than any other year in the franchises entire history. But after game 1, it's glaringly obvious where the weakness is: That god damn offensive line! Jesus Christ man, New Orleans' D line was in his ass all day like a proctologist up to the elbow. Might as well not even HAVE an offensive out there, just let em come straight at him. He'd have the same amount of time to get rid of the ball. Aggravating as HELL to watch. Was watching part of the Cowboys game last night thinking to myself, "Jesus fuckin' ball-licking Christ, Romo can set up a folding chair back there and read a book before deciding to throw. Why can't Atlanta protect like that?"

Something I wasn't aware of... if you watched the entire Falcons/Saints game, you overhead one analyst saying that Atlanta had the opportunity to pick up Steven Jackson before the trading deadline LAST YEAR. WTF!!! Someone explain to me WHY IN THE FUCK Atlanta didn't do anything last year about that? They had to know back then that they wanted him. You put Steven Jackson in that game against San Fransisco last year and I guarantee you, Atlanta goes to the Superbowl instead of San Fransisco and WINS IT.

Kansas City @ Jacksonville. Final score: 28-2.  2!?! Against Kansas City? Are you shitting me? Looks like someone took the We-Suck torch from Buffalo. Carry it proudly, Jacksonville.

Looked to me like they shifted back to their old methodology for offense. A very predictable "run on 1st down for 3 or 4 yds, run again on 2nd down for another 3 or 4 yds, throw for short gain on 3rd down (or long gain if it's available), and sap the clock dry" style. I don't like it because like I said, it's predictable. It can be effective even if it IS predictable, but in week 1, it obviously didn't work with the O line playing like pussies.

And holy shit, Redskins! Gonna be a looooooong season. I ain't seen any NFL team play that bad in quite a while. They looked like the fucking Keystone Cops meets the Three Stooges.

On the other hand, I think I (and a whole lot of other people) greatly underestimated Chip Kelly's ability to coach an NFL team. When I heard he was leaving Oregon for Philly and the NFL, I thought to myself, "Mistake. Big mistake. Ducks style football ain't gonna cut it in the pros." But Philly looked like a well oiled machine out there last night. Granted Washington was playing the worst they've ever played on both sides of the ball since RGIII showed up. So maybe when Philly plays someone a little more ready and on their game, we'll get a better idea of how effective they can be against a capable opponent. They get San Diego this sunday and Denver 2 weeks after that.
