Total Recall (2012) - 8.5/10

I don't like the idea of remaking movies, but this one wasn't so bad. I mean... you put Kate Beckinsale in a pair of skin tight pants, and it makes ANY movie worth a watch, right? It wasn't TOTALLY the same movie as the old one with Schwarzenegger though, the story was a little different. But yes, it did have the famous 3-tittied whore scene, you couldn't redo Total Recall without the 3 tits no matter how much you wanted to change the story, that would just be wrong.

It's good as hell. It's not deep and philosophical or particularly well written with the most thoroughly developed characters of any screenplay in history, but it's a kick-ass GUY'S KINDA MOVIE. Lot's of shooting, lots of blood, lots of killing, a few babes, explosions, action, everything that wasn't in The Notebook or Steel Magnolias but probably should've been. As far as I remember, ALL of Robert Rodriguez' films like that. Just brimming with over-the-top violence and movie gore. 100% fucking awesome, all of them.

The Man With The Iron Fists - 1/10

As far as I can tell, it's TOTAL CRAP! I can typically stomach historically BAD movies, and sometimes even find small redeeming qualities about them, but I was irreversibly compelled to turn this piece of shit off right after the opening credits finished. The action scenes were so horribly done, so horribly edited and choreographed, that it had ZERO feeling of realism at all. I've seen amateur films with skeleton budgets that weren't that horribly done. Not to mention that it's directed by "RZA" who I think is part of that WuTang Clan bullshit rap group, so no fucking wonder it sucked. But mostly I found myself becoming violently enraged by listening to RZA narrate the first part of the movie. His god damn annoying "gangsta rap" accent (which sounds like fucking black baby talk to me) was just too much to take.

I never watched that movie, Focalor, since I saw the trailer and it looked bad to me. I think the whole idea of him directing his own film is cool though. IIRC, himself and some others from the Wu-Tang clan love martial arts films, and use to watch the poorly dubbed ones in back in the day at movie theaters. And of course we know how much those films have influenced their music. So I imagine that RZA must have been fulfilling a dream of his (just assuming this) by directing that movie. Follow your dreams!

And since we're talking about Netflix, I wanna say fuck off to all of these Korean movies. While there quite a few of them that I enjoyed watching such as Oldboy, I hate how quickly those movies have saturated the website, permeating their way into every damn genre. It's gotta be the worst though when you want to look for a new romantic comedy or drama to watch, because you can bet your bottom dollar that you'll have to search pass a lot of Korean films, cuz that's usually what's up on there. That website needs a better search filter.

I like Asian cinema, especially HK films (action/martial arts, etc). The problem with these Korean films are that they are subpar, which I could easily extend this to be the case for films in general on Netflix. Then add to the fact that most of the new films that I see appear on Netflix (especially the front page) are Korean. Thus such films are disturbing my search results. Also, many of those films have shitty love story arcs, which I feel that I have endured enough after watching Korean TV dramas for about a year.

Basically, I don't want to see a shitload of Korean TV or films that I probably will find to be crappy, flooding my front page or search results. I'd rather find them when specifically searching for them, which will be never (at least these days).

I hate those very cheesy, puppy type of love story tv drama. I dont know which is more painfull - watching them or watching Jersey Shore.

Dont know why, but it seems like, "telenovela" type of programming is spreading like a bunch of ants.
