If you can,see it in IMAX... the experience,especially through the waves of sound ,makes the viewing visceral. You feel each thumping footstep,shudder at each blasting roar. The video otherwise conveys the deep love of the source material that inspired this :giant Rubber Suit monsters and Warrior Mechs fighting the Good Fight. The concept transcends the baggage associated with the genres,so even someone not likely to indulge in Manga at gunpoint can get into this epic struggle for the Fate of Humanity.

Saw that one the other day. I didn't think it was all that bad. Christopher Walken has become an odd "comedy" actor. Seems he's gotten typecast as a very dry kinda comedy mob figure in his last several movies, basically the same character and approach in all of them. Suicide Kings, Joe Dirt, Seven Psycopaths, etc, in all of them he's the same basic character. If I had to describe the movie, I'd say its about a couple of aging mobsters coming to terms with the fact that they are old farts approaching the end of their lives.

I didn't think it was in the 6ish neighborhood though. I've seen so many other crappy rehashed storylines in movies recently that I don't think this one necessarily belongs beside them. Al Pacino looks like he's had shit done to his face like 80% of the rest of these hollywood retards, but despite the fact he's starting to resemble a lizard-man, he's still a better than average actor.

I'm not one of those people that thinks EVERYTHING Pacino has ever done has been beyond critique. Dunno if anyone remembers them, but he's been in a few truly crappy movies. There was one called Revolution back in the mid 80s. Then there was that Simone movie. Some might disagree with me, but I thought Dog Day Afternoon was shit too.

Deathsport (1978) 3/10 - 80 minutes of low budget laser beam shooting motorcycle combat and explosions, punctuated with a good 15 minutes of naked Claudia Jennings in various circumstances.
When I realized that pretty much everyone in it is dead now, the title seemed kind of punny.
Worst hand to hand and weapon combat that I've seen in a Carradine movie, and thinnest plot I've seen in a while. It's mildly entertaining tho in a nostalgic sort of way.


Super High Me - 5/10 - Odd documentary mixed with comedy. It apparently started as a joke the guy made about watching Supersize Me, and it turned into the opportunity to star in a documentary that follows the 60 day journey of a comedian as he quits smoking weed and drinking for a month (while still on the road doing comedy) and has various tests performed to measure his mental and physical health while sober. He then proceeds to spend 30 days getting as stoned as he can on california med pot (eating, smoking and vaporizing it) and has the same tests performed to compare to his sober scores. There's some audience interaction, and some interesting scenes with other well known comedians he's touring with, and it's actually fairly informative about the med pot law and movement in CA down to visitting the states first dispensary and talking with the author of the california medical pot law.

Iron Man 3 3D.  8/10.  $4 a ticked for a 3D movie, so we went.  Story was pretty good, better then the second movie's story.  Not as much action as Avengers.  The bad guy was pretty evil, like a good James Bond villain.  But I was just expecting some more being Iron Man 3, the ending seemed to nicely wrapped up.  Fun movie to see though.

Star Trek: Darkness 3D.  8/10  Again $4 a ticked for 3D.  Took my oldest son for his birthday.  Very good movie.  Great action, the 3D was very well done, great story, great FX.  My ONLY complaint: it's a movie about Khan, a villain from the original series.  It plays on ST: Insurrection & Wrath of Khan a bit, but the end wraps up all happy.   I know that killing off a main character screamed "SEQUEL" but we all know one is coming anyway.

Warm Bodies 7/10 - Zombie guy starts feeling again and slowly comes back to life after eating the brains of some chick's boyfriend, experiencing his memories, and falling in zombie love. Eventually this influences his zombie "friends" around the airport where he shambles all day to come back to life and start feeling again as well, and join with the humans to fight off the most feral of the zombies, referred to as Bonies, who are seemingly pissed about this new developement.

I thought it was pretty well made, interesting plot line and it has a very good soundtrack of classic rock. Kept my attention better than most recent movies.

I just wanted to post a review of the same movie.  Saw it monday night with the wife.  Our "date night" movie. 

I felt the same way.  My wife liked it too (after the human eating bits at the start).  An interesting idea brought up by the movie is that zombies aren't braindead, they know what they're doing, there's just nothing they can do to stop it.

Wonder why it was PG-13 though.  Or is it that most zombie movies are "R" because they say the word "fuck", which was never said in this movie (the zombie thought "shit" a lot).

Jackie Brown (1997) - fuck rating, who cares anymore.

Seen it before. Been a little bit since the last time. GREAT MOVIE! Some people talk shit about Quentin Tarantino movies, but fuck those people, because everyone else LOVES his shit. Great casting, great characters, great dialogue. Only complaint I could have is how the plot gets slightly unrealistic and cumbersome towards the end. Like... why would an ATF sting allow Jackie to drive around with money without keeping her under eyes-on visual surveillance from the moment she left after the bills were marked? It also didn't really explain how the ATF man and police detective showed up ready and waiting at the bail bond office to catch Ordell Robbie. But... that's kinda just what you have to overlook when watching any Tarantino movie. Gotta suspend disbelief and just enjoy the story without thinking too hard about it, cuz the story's bullshit anyway. That was DEFINITELY the case with Inglorious Basterds.

Also... Pam Grier used to be one hot fuckin' momma, even in 1997. I mean GAWD DAYAM! Notsomuch anymore though. Last I seen of her, she plumped up like a cow, and I guess she's gotta be in her 60's or 70's now, so... ew on that.

Also also... obviously Tarantino was a big fan of 70's B-movies. Didn't realize it back in 97, but Sid Haig also plays Jackie Brown's judge after she get busted at the beginning of the movie. Sid Haig was also in The Big Doll House along with Pam Grier back in 1971, one of those early "womens prison" movies that basically gave birth to that entire genre. Hell, there's probably 50 or more movies that follow that same plot almost identically. Anyway, if you have no idea who Sid Haig is, he's probably most famous here recently for his portrayal of Captain Spaulding, the crazy clown from the Rob Zombie movies House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Zombie, yet another director pretty obsessed with 70's B-movies.

Orozco the Embalmer - MIND=BLOWN/10

Saw a clip of this inserted as video for a song I posted in the "Whatcha Listening To" thread yesterday, so I got probably too curious for my own good and downloaded the whole thing.

Holy shit. I'm not afraid of the act of dying. But knowing that this kinda shit happens to people after they die, yeah, I'm terrified of that shit. It's a documentary about this guy in Colombia (probably around 1996) that embalmed bodies. It ain't pretty. Not at all. It's NOTHING like how they do it here in the states. This dude operated out of this little tiny tin roofed shack. Shows him slitting people down the belly, pulling their organs out, dumping in a bottle of formalin, putting their guts back in, sewing them up, dressing them, and dropping them into a coffin. One scene shows another embalmer slicing a womans face off her skull, peeling it back, and stuffing fuckin newspaper into the cranial cavity before smacking it back on with his fist, and sewing her scalp back together. Every body he worked on, after he half-assed sewed the visceral cavity back up, he'd take bed linens and stuff them down their throat with what looked like a butter knife, I guess maybe to keep the throat and cheeks from sinking in, maybe to keep the gasses from escaping outta the mouth. He'd also stuff a bunch of cotton wads up their noses. Some horrible horrible shit. Not a job I'd ever want for the shitty pay he was apparently getting, something like 10 to 50 dollars per body.

When I die, I DO NOT WANNA BE EMBALMED! That shit looks so horrible and degrading that I think I'd rather if my next of kin just rolled me off into a hole, poured in some gasoline, and just light my ass up.
