The Theory of Everything

9/10

Hell yeah. Though the movie may be only 95% accurate, it got the nod of Stephen and his family. The were even able to relate to it. Stephen as reported was tear eyed after he saw the screening :0 .
Even chicks will love this movie. Inspirational!

MUST WATCH!

Not a movie, just TV.

They've been showing a marathon of old episodes of Saturday Night Live on VH1 Classic. Dunno how long they've been running it for, or how long it's gonna go, because I only caught a couple of episodes last night and a couple this morning. So far they've been showing stuff from 1978, so it's not the completely original cast. Jane Curtain, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, John Belushi (here and there), Gilda Radner, a couple other lesser-knowns. (I think the original cast had Chevy Chase, who was always awesome) Good stuff. Check it out. DO IT!

I don't watch SNL anymore. I refuse to. It fucking sucks. In my opinion, the last decent comedian they had on there was Will Farrell, and at the time he was on there, he was the one and only one. Tina Fey... not funny. Not at all. Don't care how many stupid tv shows and movies she makes, she's altogether unfunny, always was, always will be. In my opinion, the last time SNL was truly "good" was back in the early 90's when people like Phil Hartman and Dana Carvey were on there.

And MOTHER FUCK ANDY SAMBERG. NOT FUNNY. Not even a little. I hate even bad mouthing him because mentioning him at all gives him too much credibility. :ohreally:

Taken 3.

4/10

It's cool to see Liam Neeson fuck some shit up, but the movie reminded me why I am getting annoyed of the character, Bryan Mills. He's too square, and he's awkward as fuck in his relationship with ex-wife and daughter. The scenes with his family are starting to get cringe worthy for me.

Anyway, I don't think the movie is worth seeing. I think you should only watch it if you managed to make it through the second film, and you are bored enough to want to watch a lame action movie. The action scenes in Taken 3 aren't as interesting or exotic as the first movie. The plot makes sense but it's boring. The only interesting aspect to it is to see how Liam manages to avoid detection from law enforcement.

Fury was legit, fuck the haters

I liked it. Never seen a movie about tank warfare before that captured how scary it really is like this one did. The way that it showed shells blasting out of the guns and bouncing off the ground to land god-only-knows-where a mile away. Some of it was kind of inaccurate though.

SPOILER ALERT, if you haven't seen it and might want to, don't read anything in orange text.

At the end of the movie, when the German punches a hole in the side of their tank with the Panzerschreck rocket... nah. Panzerschreck rockets were loaded with cone shaped high explosive tips, and it was new technology in WW2. The concave shape of the charge in the tip would focus all the power of the HE charge on one spot rather than exploding in a complete radius, and it would act like a supercharged blowtorch to blow a hole through thick steel plating. When it goes through a tanks armor like the shit found on WW2 era Sherman's, it's not gonna just blast a hole into the tank, and then blast a clean hole through the gun loader and not hurt anyone else inside. It's gonna blast through, and the concussion from the blast in such a tight enclosed area is gonna blow out everyones eardrums, their ears are gonna be gushing blood, their eyeballs are gonna pop in their sockets, and they're all gonna have internal bleeding from various other organs too. Not to mention the shrapnel of the armor getting bounced around like a supersonic ping pong ball inside the tank and shredding people inside up like barbecue stew meat.

They also didn't make the bullets bouncing off the armor plating loud enough inside the tank. It would have been utterly deafening completely nerve wracking, especially when someone pegs a MG42 on it. MG42's shot devastating 7.92 Mauser rounds at an INSANELY high rate, something like 1300 rounds per minute, and it would've sounded like someone taking a carbide saw to the side of the tank. All movie long when bullets would hit the side of the tank, you'd barely hear a fucking thing. Entirely historically inaccurate.

Again, when the driver dropped his grenade back inside the tank and fell on it to save the rest of the remaining survivors, that might've been possible. But more than likely, the concussion from the blast would've echoed through the inside of the tank enough to seriously wound everyone else inside.

And when the Germans tossed in two potato masher grenades, there wouldn't have been a damn thing left of mister tank commander Pitt for Norman to have put his coat over. They're loaded with TNT, probably half to one-third of a full stick of TNT that you'd use in rock excavation. Inside a tank, the effects would be magnified. There wouldn't be white skin and clean wounds left on someones face. Their face would be a giant post-mortem blue-black mess, the ears would be sheered off, the hair would be burned off, they would be unrecognizable.

And there were various other things scattered throughout the movie that weren't entirely accurate, but whatever, I think I've nitpicked enough already.

The whole movie was basically a HOORAY FOR THE AMERICANS WHO FOUGHT IN WW2! Not entirely 100% accurate, but still pretty damned entertaining and worth watching.

Chinatown 1967 but wiki says 74

Not bad for 67 until the end. I was pretty pissed i even watched it. This could just be a friendly reminder i needed... I waited over 2 hrs for a plot twist that makes you say omg wtf. If there is anything I got out of this movie is that people are FUCKED UP!  People are also....understanding. just wow.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yJJWXhXbuI

Someones view of the movie...fyi it's not about vietnam, she uses it as an example of such disillusionment.

Chinatown is a symbol for life in the classic Modernist condition of existentialism marked by confusion, amorality, isolation, futility (in searching for truth and meaning), and cynicism. That's why this film is so great... it can be extrapolated to be so much more than a simple crime thriller; Rather, it is Modernist philosophy (as influenced by disillusionment about world tragedy such as the Vietnam war) wrapped in noir.

noir
nwär/
noun
a genre of crime film or fiction characterized by cynicism, fatalism, and moral ambiguity.

Chinatown

Yeah, a lot of people consider it one of the best films ever,... I disagree. I guess film critics back then had nothing better to compare it to. :D It's definitely a "classic", but nothing all that great that it'd make me wanna watch it more than once every 5 years, if even that often.

The plot twist at the end didn't really register as much of a twist to me. I saw it coming.

A better movie, kinda in the same style, is Angel Heart (1987) with Mickey Rourke, Robert DeNiro and Lisa Bonet.

Yeah. Finally got around to seeing it this past weekend. It's... weird. Part of me thinks it was a pretty good movie. The other part feels fucking ripped off as hell by how the story goes from relying on science and logic so much to completely ignoring science and logic. Like what the hell was making all the plants and food turn to shit? They can start life on another planet, but they can't solve what's fucked up about their own? How the fuck does he go from being INSIDE a black hole to being in a hospital bed? It's just... WHAT THE FUCK!?! Like I said, all in all, a pretty good movie, but with some really bad plot points peppered in.

The Doors (1991)

Finally got around to seeing this thing. Almost 25 years late seeing it. Directed by Oliver Stone, the same batshit crazy guy who directed other completely fucked up movies such as Platoon, Natural Born Killers and U Turn. And this movie fits right in amongst his other completely fucked up movies. Starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison. And I don't like Val Kilmer really. But he played a pretty good Jim Morrison. Yeah, a pretty fucked up movie, but I guess Jim Morrison was a pretty fucked up guy. I like some of The Doors music, but Jim Morrison was definitely not the kind of guy I would've wanted to hang out with even for 2 seconds.

Not the kind of movie I'd really like to see again at any point, but it was still really well done. A lot of the camera work in it did a good job of portraying a trippy psychedelic atmosphere at times. And if you wanna learn a little about what kind of a person Jim Morrison really was, this movie does the job. Or if you just want a nice movie to watch while you're tripping on shrooms or acid, this thing'll probably be a good tripping movie to watch. Then again, if you're tripping too intense, it could just freak you out and make you jump out the window. So watch it on the 1st floor of your house if you do. ;)

Black Mass (2015)

Holy shit. What a good fucking movie. SEE THIS. It rivals any mobster movie Scorcese ever did. Directed by Scott Cooper, who I had no idea who he was until I IMDB'd him 2 minutes ago. He also directed Out of the Furnace starring Christian Bale and Casey Affleck, another pretty damn good movie that I'd also recommend.

This movie doesn't even tell the whole story of Jimmy Bulger, it really only focuses on certain parts of his life from about 1979 to the time that he went into hiding in 1994. And personally, I think the story of how he survived and made his moves in the South Boston gang scene prior to him taking over the Winter Hill Gang in the early 80's is just as important and interesting as the parts in the movie, maybe moreso, but... if they did all that, the movie would probably end up being 4 or 5 hours long instead of 2 hours. As well as this thing's done, I kinda wish they could've told the WHOLE story and made it into some huge 5 hour long epic.

Many times kept seeing black mass on solarmovie but never bothered to watch it. Ill give it a try.

Been on a Bruce Lee spree today.

In my teens, I probably saw every last action and martial arts movie they had in the action movie section of my local video rental store. They had a couple of Bruce Lee movies, but not his entire selection, as small as it actually was (probably 4 or 5 movies total). I had seen Enter The Dragon, because who hasn't. I think the only other one they had was Way of the Dragon. I always remember I had seen clips of Bruce Lee fighting in some dark dojo with a spindle-legged Kareem Abdul-Jabbar who absolutely towered over him. I'm sure many people have seen clips of that scene with Bruce Lee before. Realized I had never actually seen that movie.

Turns out... there's probably a good reason why that movie ain't so popular among the Bruce Lee collection. It's called Game of Death, and it's actually a complete jigsawing of clips filmed AFTER Bruce Lee's death in 1978 paired up with clips of Bruce Lee's own unfinished movie also called Game of Death, which he stopped filming when he began filming Enter The Dragon for Warner Brothers, and he had planned to go back to Hong Kong and finish it later... and never got to.

Wow. It's ridiculous. They have one scene where they have a really really obvious paper cutout of Bruce Lee's face stuck on a mirror to be his reflection. And when they didn't do absolutely retarded shit like that, they just had some guy who looked NOTHING LIKE Bruce Lee playing his parts as if you're not even gonna notice. He doesn't even move like Bruce Lee when he fights. It's sooooo bad that it's kinda funny they actually had the balls to put this movie out.

Terminator Genisys.

Oh man. This movie could've been so much cooler than it turned out to be. With each successive Terminator movie, they keep fucking up the original story line more and more, and this one completely skullfucks it. Way too much shit happens that they really don't explain in a satisfactory fashion. Basically everything that happened in the 1st Terminator movie has been washed away from existence. Somehow Sarah Connor gets a big-assed 50 cal Barrett sniper rifle in 1984 to take out the original T-800 Terminator that comes after her in the first movie, which is somewhat plausible, but not very believable. Technically Barrett sniper rifles did exist in 1984, but they didn't really become mass produced and widely available until the 90's. And I know that a 50BMG has eons of energy behind it, but how does one 50BMG round in the upper chest area stop a Terminator in THIS movie, when blowing up a fucking gasoline tanker truck couldn't kill one in the first movie?

It's just ridiculous. Wasn't a very interesting story. They actually got Arnold back for this one. It could've been so much better. Really a let down.
