I think I read somewhere that there is going to be a remake of that movie. I remember watching Drop Dead Fred like back in 2002. Very funny. One of my Top 20 films along with Trainspotting.

Paul: 4/10.  Why?  It just wasn't funny.  It COULD of been funny but the constant swear/body part jokes weren't funny.  The gay ones were (the running gag of are the two guys gay) but the others weren't.   Maybe that's why when they wrote it nick frost's character (blatantly) didn't find them funny either.  I think the only ones who did in the movie where the alien and the girl.  The funniest part was the "Stay away from her you bitch" like.  Again, they made several Spielberg references but only one Sigourney Weaver reference?  They could of made those through out the whole movie too based on the plot & some explanation by the alien.

The problem with the movie was without question... Seth Rogan. That guy is like a vacuum salesman for comedy. He sprinkles things that could be funny onto the carpet and then vacuums them up before they stick. Not only that, the entire movie he was trying as hard as possible to sound, act, and time his jokes exactly like Penn Jillette. In fact when I came out of the movie, I said to my wife: "You know, Penn used to be a whole lot funnier than that." To which she corrected me.

If they filmed the exact same movie again with the exact same script and just replaced Seth Rogan, it probably would have been comic gold. Honestly I thought it was more like a 7 or an 8 because Simon Pegg and Nick Frost can certainly make up for a lot of shortcomings... but without actual talent to back up Paul, his character was some fifth wheel in an otherwise good movie. I'm thinking back to the parts of the movie that I loved the most... and they didn't involve a single line from Paul. They were mostly slapstick involving his character... go figure.

When I am in the subway, I always make sure I am far from the yellow line because of this movie

Had an all star cast but it took itself way too seriously. I would be amiss if I don't mention that Kim Basinger has a ridiculous amount of nude scenes in this movie.

Watched that "best part" video. That's messed up. Although it's honestly less depressing than an equally odd movie about mass suicide called Sunshine. 

I have to say that knowing it's an Asian film, and after seeing The Eye 2, that kind of gore is just comical. In the Eye 2 she tries to kill herself by jumping off a building, but survives. So she crawls back up to do it again. Really odd. Can't be taken seriously in a sane world. Actually that kind of blood splatter is more like an old kung-fu film.

I actually put no negative connotation on it what-so-ever. Although it's very hard to shake her roles from Wayne World 2 or My Step Mother is an Alien. So to me it's kind of like Anna Faris doing nude scenes. Not saying I would mind, but it's silly. I guess a good comparison is Jennifer Tilly.. who is in this movie and also does nude scenes.

All-in-all, this would be a great movie for Foc. (And I only mentioned it originally because I figured you'd grab a copy based on that "recommendation."  )

Season of the witch 7/10

Not nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The script was not good, but it was really just a generic medieval adventure film. Hopefully it's the first of a movement to bring back the Red Sonja-esque genre.

It sucked.  Really?  They made a movie with giant fighting robots suck!  Why?  I don't know but the giant robot scenes weren't exciting, I don't give a crap about the woman walking around in her underwear.  The entire time I thought she was going to betray him.  Why?  Because she's out of nowhere.   Seems more like a gold digger going with whats-his-name after he saved the world then the previous chick.

The Thing (2011) - 9/10

The movie itself was good, but not great. What I really like about it is that the director went to painstaking efforts to make it a devoted prequel. I have loads of respect for that and I think that every fan of The Thing (1982) will enjoy it.

To explain the needless confusion to the non-fans. There are 3 movies based off of the story "Who goes there". "The Thing From Another World" is the first, and it follows the original set up of the book, but changes the monster into a weird carrot monster. John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982) is set up to have all of the opening events from "Who Goes There" happen to a Norwegian camp near-by, but the movie takes place in an American camp. So "The Thing" (1982) is technically a sequel. So "The Thing" (2011) is made to be a prequel, not a remake. But since "The Thing From Another World" is technically the original and "The Thing" (1982) is technically a sequel, then "The Thing" (2011) is technically a remake of "The Thing from Another World"!

So... "The Thing" (2011) is a remake carrying the same name as it's own sequel.
