eXistenZ - 9/10

I'm going out on a limb on this one because it's a lame and fairly predictable plot. It's also needlessly confusing and the acting is poor.

All that out of the way it seems to be mandatory nerd fodder. I'm embarrassed for not seeing it sooner. It hits two big nerd concepts hard and well. The first being bio-computers and the second being existentialism. Let's put it this way, this is the movie that the Matrix sequels wanted to be. It can be described in a single word, existential.

Another treat you'll get is that it knocks out the typical "grandma's boy" view of video game design. The lead character is the programmer/artist/designer all rolled into one, then at the end you find out that that ambiguous impression of "game designers" that you always get in movies was a ruse and you see someone use real terminology and jargon at the end being an artistic lead in a project presenting an early preview. It does most of this by omission but still correctly pokes fun of the modern day version of the "I bet this baby has a 56k modem" speech from hackers.

On top of that, it's pretty much an all-star cast.

Lastly, and this is the whole reason I like the movie, in one scene the co-star stands up and yells "eXistenZ is Paused!!!!!!!!!!" at the top of his lungs. So if you are one of my neighbors, now you know why you've been hearing me yell "SUPER MARIO WII IS PAUSED!!!!!". Definitely a quotable one.

Fast Five - 10/10, anything with dwayne johnson in gives me a stiffy. in seriousness it's a wonderful mindless action film to chill out and watch, dont expect an oscar winning script but worth seeing.

Thor - 8/10 - I loved heimdall, I fucking love the concept of someone like that. like a watcher with ULTIMATE power, powers you cant even comprehend, I know that wasnt exactly a big part of the thor story or anything but that's how i percieved heimdall, and it was awesome. film was pretty good, irritating that some civilians were involved with greek mythology and that because it kind of downscales it for me personally, but whatevs. worth watching.

Black Swan - 9/10 - while I didnt completely get it till I read up more on it, I could appreciate its quality the entire way through. a little creepy in parts, so it does its job as a psychological thriller well. great film

Drive Angry - 8/10 It was a pretty fun action movie with a lot of cool things. The real problem is that there was this unwritten "grit" quota that the director decided he had to achieve before his film was done. It's as if being "gritty" is the film maker's equivalent to winning a dream vacation with Justin Beiber. It's gotten to the point of silliness. Like a paint-by-number for film makers. We get it. You outdid everybody else at being unoriginal and exactly the same...

Anyway the action was awesome. Still worth watching.

Just watched Requiem for a dream for the first time after a couple of my friends were in shock of me missing it. I liked it, very strange yet a really good one.

The autor who wrote requiem for a dream has many good books. One of my favorites is "the demon", and "fight club" : ).

boogie man, the new one 8.5/10. nothing special I just liked it, the main actor was really good
alien verus predator, 7.5/10, pretty cool watching the chick fuck up an alien to make friends with the predator - nice fight scenes
termintor I & II, 10/10, Arnold's the man, I don't care who's baby daddy he is
the happening - I don't know what to think of this movie, but it was so weird and the acting was kind of bad so it kept me entertained
running man, 10/10, another good Arnold movie : )

Pirates of the Caribbean 4: fun to watch, my 10 year old liked it & I liked it better then the previous two. 8/10
Little Fockers: Funnier then the others imho, but it's more about keeping the marriage together while fighting against stuff to distract you from your spouse vs the little kids, 8/10.
No Strings Attached: nothing but sex with Ashton Kutcher & Natalie Portman. While she's good looking the movie wasn't worth watching. 3/10.

I've been watching kids movies with the kids. Many of them a second time. After watching How to Train a Dragon, Despicable Me, Megamind, Toy Story 3, etc. So far they are all between average and very good.

Just saw Gnomeo and Juliet and boy was it aweful. It's story equivalent to a direct to video production like home alone 4 or Problem Child 3. The excuse for making it was supposed to be Elton John music, but instead it was a bunch of crappy remixed stuff with word substitution that never made any sense. Proof that throwing barrels of money and celebrities into a film can't magically make it good. 0/10

Since we've also been watching through the complete series of Scrubs I can appreciate how Dr. Cox feels every time that he has to talk to newbie. So in honor here is the list of things that I would rather be doing than watching this god-aweful vomit inducing films: using a cheese grater on my face, listening to the best of marty ingles, reading a nicholas sparks novel, having said novel read to me by fran dresser, and finally telling hugh jackman what a stand up actor I think he is. *removes hands from head and storms off*

Vampires Suck 7/10. If you've ever had the misfortune of seeing any of the twilight movies, this thing will be hilarious. The best part is that it is entirely slapstick similar to a Leslie Neilson movie.

Clash Of The Titans (2010) 2/10. All they did was rush a bad plot together in order to string along terribly convoluted fight scenes. Big waste of time.
