Battle Los Angeles: 8.5/10Basic war movie but with Aliens instead of Nazi's. Fun to watch. What impressed me most is that I watched it twice with it being a rental & my wife watched the whole thing. She normally sleeps after the first 15 minutes.
she has a future portraying olive oil in a Popeye sequel.
30 days of night: 2 4/10Considering that the first one had writing so bad that I still have nightmares of being subjected to it again, this one isn't too bad in comparison. The plot is complete crap and the characters are constantly reacting in nonsensical and illogical ways. However, the up sides are some decent action and a back story that has quite a bit of culture. They make cool reference to lillith, Elizabeth Bathory, and Renfield instead of focusing on generic dracula plots. They rewrite the first one a tiny bit to insert the Lillith character into the mix, but once again the first one was so badly written that to attempt to keep it's plot intact in a sequel is more of an insult to it's audience than expecting them to accept the first one to begin with. Fortunately the "vegeta vs. freeza" scene form the first one is avoided like the plague. No vampire vs. vampire fights with thinly veiled dialog about "power levels". THANK GOD!I think the only reason I gave this a low rating was because it only reminds me of how bad the first one was. I'm sure it was a fine graphic novel.
Transformers 3:6/10Long, boring, pretty dumb compared to the others. Movie kinda ends suddenly too, Michael Bay likes doing that. The CGI effects were of course pretty awesome, but that's about the only thing I liked about this one. And Megan Fox > (whatever that long bitches name is). I also noticed the highway scene in this one was reused from "The Island" and used in this one(at the time, I figured to cut costs etc, but found out one of the extras got fucked up during them filming that part for Transformers 3 so they basically gave up on that part of the movie and used the scene from The Island). So after finding that out, I don't blame them.
