Daybreakers - 8/10

Pretty good film, ethan hawke does well as the main character, human woman is a fittie, bad guys are appropriate. sometimes unneccesary gore, but some would argue when is gore ever unneccesary (lookin at you foc and jager for some reason :p). i'd reccomend watching it if you can and like post apocolyptic films.

Usually remakes aren't as good as the original. This one blew the one with Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum out of the water and into outer fucking space.

Just finished Bangkok Dangerous. Meh movie but it was cool to see Nicholas Cage be a ruthless, bad ass killer. The ending threw me off. Maybe it's me but I totally didn't expect what happened.

I watched 2012 the other night. The story was kinda suckish, Since it jumped right into the end of the world without giving much of a plot. Cool special effects, though. was kind of stupid, although I did get into it. It defiantly kept me wondering what was gonna happen next. And a black guy ACTUALLY survived till the end in this movie, So that's always nice. Even though the story was lacking, It was a fairly good movie. 4/10. (I don't rate high unless it's something spectacular, Like movie of the year, I defiantly recommend checking it out.)

I've never seen the one with Nicholas Cage, I have the original Thai version with subtitles on DVD. From what I heard, the US remake completely butchered the original story.

So girly of you   But since you are female, I will give that to ya lol.

I just checked out The Last Airbender, which I thought was pretty cool.  Lots of good action and martial art sequences.  It doesn't follow the cartoon down to the specifics, but it makes it a more serious movie whereas the cartoon seems very kiddish.

The Crazies (2010) (9/10)

Never saw the original, but I liked the remake. It was kind of like what the Happening SHOULD have been. The actual disease was unimportant but allowed for the movie to borrow good ideas from Outbreak and The Siege. It had a lot more influences than that, but the "outbreak" portion of the movie was short and to the point, which made it great and hard to find anything to dislike about it.

The actual disease was pretty cool. They spent no time on making it airborne, little time on what caused it, and less time on treating it. Instead it is a simple plot device for the actual movie. The idea is that this disease turns everyone into a generic horror movie villain. So one infected person kills people with a pitchfork while another is generic deliverance/wrong turn bad guys. So it was a pretty reasonable excuse to skip any excess plot, back story, or mystery and skip straight to a string of slasher/suspense/thriller style climax scenes set up every so many minutes.

The "end of society as we know it" portion was really well done. Not only was it an unapologetic high body count horror, it had a really good theme and mood, as well as characters that acted in a believable way based on the crises at hand. Usually you get a bunch of sissy girls. This time you get a bunch of bad asses fighting back! The way it should be!
