Pandorum was amazing. One of those classics I'll never forget. I'm not sure why you're comparing it to Even Horizon though. Event Horizon was an "isolate and kill 1 by 1" movie. Less sci-fi and a lot more horror. Sunshine just plain sucked. I'm embarrassed to call it sci-fi. It's more like a manically depressed emo kid's mandatory english essay about spaceships and outlandish suicides.

(P.S. I really liked Event Horizon. Reminds me of the doom/quake1 plots altered enough for cinema)

Farcry - 8/10
Uwe Boll movie, so I expect nobody to agree with me. It was just an action/adventure style movie with a cheesy sci-fi channel plot. The action/adventure aspects were really fun though. Very 70's James Bond style. I.E. there's a scene where they shoot a grapple through the roof of a car and attach to a helicopter which flies them over a cliff. Very fun an unrealistic action, like the good old days.

Boondock Saints - 9/10
A little overly violent for my taste, but it was really good. The also drop the f-bomb so much that it looses all meaning when they get mad. Kind of comical.

I define overly violent as:
1) needlessly shaking the camera as if it's part of some kind of film making quota
2) making bones crunch every time you punch someone even though it's neither possible or cool by any stretch of the imagination
3) everybody screams for about 5 minutes before shooting at which point 3 women, 5 children, 12 old men, and a bus full of nuns are required to be shot in the face at least once.

Basically the action is not taken serious and is portrayed as dark-comedy rather than exciting explosions.

The Last Of The Living - 6/10
Very funny, well made, cool, and engaging Zombie movie. It's essentially the Down Under rip off of 28 days later, but it's pretty unique and very funny. The only reason it's not a 10/10 is because despite the otherwise good nature of the movie, the film quality makes you want to puke. I think they filmed it entirely on a cellphone camera from 2002. If you can get through the film quality without the onset of migraines, I highly recommend it!

Dude totally disagree with that, mainly because it's plain wrong. You obviously haven't seen more than parts of it or your head must have been somewhere else. Then again most of the times I disagree with your "reviews" and I usually don't watch anything that you really really recommend and I recommend others to do the same.;P
For instance on IMDb.com Farcry scores a 3.3 (against your 8) and Pandorum gets a 6.9 (against your "amazing") which is actually not bad. But Sunshine is still rated a 7.3. I mean come on don't just say it plain sucks if something isn't your taste. I'm a movie freak myself but I guess some people just watch too many movies in a short amount of time.

We're talking movies that get perfect ratings from all credible film critics (save titanic. yuck) that are knocked down 2 points just from crappy users. In fact, they just added a feature where critical reviews trump user reviews.

At IMDB, films are never judged by people who like the genre in question, but by a majority of people who prefer a different genre and arbitrarily bump down the rating. On top of that, several movies get trolled, especially uwe boll films. I guarantee that at least half of the votes on imdb didn't watch the film. You especially get it for TV shows. The user rating for Extreme Home Makover is 6.0, yet it's an extremely popular show and the critical rating that trumps it is 10/10.

You can usually rely on the user reviews though. The content is filtered by votes for usefulness. So you can read the best and worst review and get a pretty consistently correct view of any movie.


I's been a while since I saw sunshine almost immediately when it came out on video, thinking it'd be a lot like supernova. So bear with me if I miss some parts:

Very quickly into the movie several crew members start to act irrational, but NO OTHER CHARACTERS think twice about this and nothing is done. One member starts to get violent, at which point they find the stranded first ship. The smartest members of the crew decide that visiting the first ship is certain doom, and they are right because it is this huge giant mistake that causes any plot to exist. Then a magical sun god appears and starts melting people. (not kidding.. it's quite puzzling why they thought this made sense). Shortly after all but 3 people are dead. The computer magically (never reasonable explained) runs out of power and a crew member has to lower cooling cells into coolant. Instead of lowering the cells, he decides to swim in the coolant and kills himself.

Last and not least, the only surviving member enters into the Sci-Fi channel's Cube and fights the sun god one last time before killing himself to restart the sun. If I've missed any of the terrible writing, please correct me.

Oh right, the sound track has also been known to induce brain hemorrhages.

Since I like the movie I'll explain (doesn't mean I expect you to like the movie).
The first group of highly-qualified guys goes off in to space & is never heard from again.  So they send in the JV squad.  The crew find out they can only make one more message to earth & the scientist guy uses up all the transmission because he is emotional & the other who wants to send a loving message home is pissed & they fight.  The ship is mishandled by the pilot guy & that in turn fries their O2/food making room.  They not can't go back to earth.  They find out about the ship & the smartest members of the crew believe it's the BEST idea (the scientists guy) because then they could have 2 bombs vs one.  A bonus would be the possibility of food + more O2.  They get on the ship, find the ship's computer dead, all the people fried (the psych guy says it's because they didn't want to live in space forever, but it's confirmed they killed themselves) except the captain & the food/O2 room wonderful.  They get back on their ship & find out they don't have enough air any more & the computer tells them there's an extra person on board.   The crispy captain kills asian lady when she sees the garden is regrowing, then he goes & starts breaking the computer.  Then he tries to kill the other pal white chick.  She runs to the bomb part of the ship.  The scientist guy escapes crispy captain by locking himself in a room with space suits.  Crispy captain heads to bomb part.  The emotional guy sees the computers are out of the coolant because the crispy captain pulled them out & broke the controls to put them back in (same thing he did on the other ship).  He uses his weight to put them back in the coolant but gets stuck & freezes to death (so computers die).  Scientist guy heads to bomb section in space suit & blows himself out of an airlock to "fly" towards bomb part which the crispy captain set free.  I forget the exact next sequence of events, but the crispy captain kills pale white chick after chase, there's a talk about the crispy captain seeing God & being told he must let earth die at all costs & the scientist guy says he doesn't believe in God, then the scientist guy blows up the bomb & saves the solar system.

Besides all the technical far-out stuff & the ocational strange scenario, I found it entertaining.  I would of found it more interesting if instead of saying God told him to let earth die it would of been him saying he must let earth die to prove God doesn't exist (would of made more sense based on his actions).

Earth Star Voyager.  An old made-for-TV movie by Disney about a group of kids that are recruited for a 20 year journey to earth's nearest habitatal planet in another solar system.  They're kids because it will take 20 years there, 5 there & 20 back, so they'll be in their 50's & 60's when they get back.

Nightmare on Elm Street = 7.4

Nightmare on Elm Street sucked balls. I don't know about the new one that came out a year or two ago, but the original one from the 80's with Johnny Depp getting eaten by his bed (which was probably the only good part of the movie)... yeah, awful.
