Brand new Slayer single came down the pipes. Got my free copy of it through the Slayer email list, but it's a 58mb WAV file, not MP3. Kinda weird that they did that, but whatever.

I guess they're working towards getting a new album out at some point before the end of this year. Who knows really. They've got Gary Holt from Exodus filling the spot Jeff Hanneman left. Seems to be a permanent thing at the moment. A great choice for Slayer in my opinion. Maybe not so great for Exodus though. But the two bands have been close friends forever, so I don't think anyone from Exodus minds that Holt has left to take Hanneman's place. Pretty sure he was the main songwriter for Exodus for most of the bands history, so he brings plenty of experience with that to the table with Slayer. Also, I'm TOTALLY excited that Slayer finally has Paul Bostaph back on the drums. I like Dave Lombardo, he's an excellent and elite drummer, but I've just always thought Bostaph was a little more versatile and had a more interesting sound.

The new track isn't anything "overly" special in my opinion. Still sounds good though. Sounds like they've taken a bit of a turn back more towards the sound they had on God Hates Us All, which is a great thing in my opinion. The overall sound and structure of the song is clear evidence that Bostaph is back behind the skins. It's got the more interesting drum patterns from God Hates Us All, but it ain't sneaking in any Nu-metal riffing tricks under the radar. And that shit worked on God Hates Us All, but I don't think fans are gonna like that kinda stuff today. It was a sign of the times, and it passed. But I'm sure whatever they release on the next album is gonna be fucking awesome times 10.

the concept reminds me of when kesha did an a capella cover of a bob dylan song. only when kesha did it it kinda sounded good, while wing sounds like she's channeling the shaggs.
