I had Thanksgiving dinner yesterday with my brother & sister in-law who are both rabid Seminole fans.  Thank god Thanksgiving comes before the UF/FLA St. game.  The brother in law was talking trash, saying once FLA St. scores a field goal, its over.  The really sad part is, he might be right 
The UF defense will have to have a great game for UF to win.

Pfft. Turkey ain't the only thing he's gonna be eating. He's gonna be eating THEM WORDS when the Gators beat the Noles.

I now think notre dame beating Stanford might be best for UNC. Pittsburgh and navy were 2 of notre dame's staple wins, especially navy. They both lost, navy getting spanked by 30 points by an unranked. If unc beat Clemson, they'd get the nod over notre dame due to their loss, but not a 2 loss Stanford / pac champs. Side note though, wsu was boosting Stanford's resume and they just got spanked too.

Not much else could help nc other than Illinois becoming bowl eligible by beating 16. Northwestern, and okie state beating Oklahoma. I still don't think it'll be enough, but maybe.

I just took South Carolina with the +19 spread, parlayed with unc covering a -4.5 spread, and unc and nc state being high scoring. The latter might be the safest bet of them all.. Considering how Clemson and nc state ran up the scoreboard I think we can expect something similar with nc.

Being a little too critical of the Gators. Totally NOT being a fan of them and watching them play, I can say they actually played pretty damn good against Florida State. The passes didn't leave the QB quickly, but FSU had plenty to do with that with their good coverage. When Treon Harris was completing passes, the receivers were booking it like their hair was on fire. Only problem, the FSU defense was playing the same way. Florida played a tough tough game, Florida State just played maybe a tiny bit tougher. FSU kinda owes the win to their RB Dalvin Cook. God damn that kid can move! After that fumble recovery FSU made in the end zone for a 2pt safety, I figured time dictated that Florida didn't have a shot at coming back anymore, so I flipped it over to the end of the Notre Dame vs Stanford game.

WOW. Almost wish I had've been watching that game instead. The ending was pretty nuts. The Irish were ritualistically bleeding the clock down with nothing but run plays. Obviously that was the whole plan with that last drive, to slowly move it and score with as little time on the clock as possible and walk out with a 1 point win. They get it in the end zone and kick the PAT for a 1pt lead with 30 seconds left for Stanford. At that moment, I imagine all the Notre Dame fans were shitting themselves with joy thinking, "WE WON THIS! THERE'S NO WAY STANFORD WILL HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO GET INTO FG RANGE EVEN WITH THEIR 3 T.O.'s!" ...aaaaaaand a mere 20 seconds later... they were saying to themselves, "...aw shit." 5 seconds left on the clock, Stanford kicks it through for 3 and totally demolishes Notre Dame's hopes of getting into the top 4 again.

Watched UGA vs Georgia Tech earlier today. Nothing surprising there. The only the way they didn't lose that game is because Sony Michel running the ball, and occasionally Malcolm Mitchell catching some of Greyson Lambert's horrible throws that anyone less elitely talented wouldn't have caught. That, and the fact that Georgia had plenty of time to prepare a decent option run defense against them. They basically had 2 full weeks to prepare the defensive game plan for this game because Georgia Southern (last weeks opponent) is ALSO an option run offense. Ever since GT head coach Paul Johnson brought his option run offense game plan with him to Georgia Tech from Navy, UGA has always had better success against them on defense in the seasons where they either have a bye week before the Georgia Tech game or they play another option run offense school the week before. The couple of years where they've had only one week to prepare and heavily practice a game plan for the Georgia Tech game, either Georgia Tech wins it or Georgia Tech loses by a close margin. All the other years when UGA has basically had 2 weeks to prepare, Georgia Tech always has a really tough time scoring any points at all.

I was sooooo hoping that Auburn could knock Alabama out of the running for the top 4. So... let's all get prepared for the inevitable bad news yet again this year: Alabama is probably gonna win another god damn national title. They still have to get through Florida at the SEC Championship in Atlanta though. Praying for a miracle. Come on, Florida. YOU CAN FUCKING DO THIS!

The Florida/Florida St. game went as I thought.  Florida's defense kept them in the game most of the way, but the offense could not get anything going so the defense wore down in the 4th quarter.  Florida's D-line was missing 2 starters and 2 or 3 other guys who were playing were not at full strength.  The Florida defense played tough, midway through the 4th quarter Dalvin Cook only had 71 yards, but as the defense wore down he gashed them for 112 yards in the last 2 drives.  Kelvin Taylor played a good game, rushing for 136 yards on a bum ankle for most of the game.       On the bright side, Florida did not get shutout.  The Florida offense got shutout, but the defense scored 2 points.   

Stanford/ND - I was flipping between this game and the UF game.  When I flipped over just in time to see ND go up by 1 with 30 seconds left, I  thought this day totally sucks.  When I saw Stanford came back and won, I felt much better.  A ND loss almost makes up for the UF loss.     I wish I could have saw it live, so I could see the faces of the ND fans, players, and especially coach Brian Kelly.

If Clemson beats UNC their in, If UNC beats Clemson Stanford\UNC\Ohio St. will get in. Yes the committee could put Ohio St. in    especially if Mich St. beats Iowa by a large margin.

If Iowa beats mich state and usc beats Stanford, unc SHOULD get in with an impressive win over Clemson. If Florida pulls off the big upset on top of all that, then I think unc SHOULD be in no doubt.

Unfortunately, SHOULD is subjective. 5 teams ranked below unc lost though, and they all kinda got stomped except notre dame and Baylor. Michigan, Florida, and Oklahoma state were beat by large margins. I think unc will move up 4 spots to 10th. Top 12 are for New Years six bowls, but the ACC is only allowed 2 of those slots... Notre dame counts as ACC for bowl slots which sucks for unc because they'll put fsu and notre dame above nc with a loss to Clemson so they'll get the Russell athletic bowl instead despite being top 12.

And, what if unc beats Clemson but doesn't make the top 4? Which TWO teams are going to be left out of the New Years bowls out of unc, Clemson, fsu, and notre dame?

Also, something that foc has always said: it's stupid how losses are worse at the end of a season than the beginning. If Oklahoma were undefeated then lost to Texas at the end of the year, they'd definitely be out. And if Clemson loses to nc(losing to top 10 nc would be a better loss than ANY of the 1 loss teams) then they're out. Lol

As expected, most folks in Athens aren't happy about his resignation (aka de facto firing). I'm not totally thrilled by it, personally. I kinda wish college football did things a little differently than pro football, but... they don't. So while a small part of me is sad to see him go, the larger part knows it's obviously the right thing to do. He's won only ONE SEC Championship (early in his tenure) in his 10+ years as head coach even though he's frequently had all the right chess pieces on the board at times to do more. He's had quarterbacks lately (who HE insisted on bringing aboard) who have severely under-performed. He had a runningback in Todd Gurley who was almost a guaranteed Heisman winner, and he ended up knowingly breaking NCAA rules and losing his (and UGA's) chance at the Heisman. So many let downs over the past several years, all of it stacking on top itself. It was just time to make a change.

The players are the ones most upset of all about it. If the players are upset to see him go... maybe they should've done more to make sure that didn't happen. They had the opportunity. And here's one MORE opportunity for them to learn a lesson from this. Hopefully they will.
