random thoughts from weekend.

LSU has to get through OLE MISS and arKANSAS before they play in the sec title game..if they lose that game..no telling how the tie breaker works (being that bama beat arkansas...3 way tie..ect) My edit = OLE MISS....just to clarify the schedule.   :roll1: :roll1: :roll1:

ole miss lost to Louisiana Tech....................... :bomb:

As far as Ole Miss goes.......can it get any worse?  Yes.  LSU  240 -  UM 17.  Ole Miss may even lead at halftime!   :D  I think LSU is probably spending two weeks preparing for Arkansas at this point.   ::)

Hokies have taken control of this game with more than a little help from the officials. Tech leads UNC 24-7 as we head to the fourth. A clearly uncatchable pass was called pass interference, and an apparent fumble by Wilson was called down by contact. You could also make the argument that an offensive pass interference call on the Tar Heels was unwarranted.

^3rd quarter was whack.

Also, that pass at the end of the first half was GOOD. The onside kick call was a good call, that one pass interference where he gave a little push, a good call. But with that... the ref right there on the line called the pass good, then he was overruled by another ref 15 secs later, for some stupid reason only that only accomplished to make the wrong call the "original call which must have sufficient data to be refuted"... Yes it was a very close call and we just BARELY got it, then we got screwed.

Anyway.. the first time this season I've had a reason to bitch at the refs was our 2nd to last game.....could be worse.

Yeah, that overruled call on that long bomb was a little retarded in my opinion. The official running up that sideline was 5 or 6 yards away from the play and he called it a catch in-bounds, then the other officials who WEREN'T right on top of the play run over and overrule him.

Still nothing to be ashamed of losing that game when UNC ended up a mere 3 points behind. Had they been able to bring in that onside kick another yard and a half further, they would've kept possession of the ball and possibly tied it up or won it by the end of regulation play. They played a little better than Georgia Tech did against them, and GT is one of the most physical and bruising run teams around right now. Then again, UNC's coach isn't as panicy and gamble-prone as GT's Paul Johnson, which has a good bit to do with why Virgina Tech was able to beat them by a larger margin.

The whole Paul Johnson method of football is just downright STUPID in my opinion. He calls run run run all the time, and maybe once in a blue moon he'll surprise the defense with a long pass. But when his run run run bullshit proves to be inferior and they start falling too far behind, he goes long pass, long pass, long pass. And GT's QB is NOT a passing QB. He chucks it up and just hopes his receiver is good enough to catch it or keep the defender from picking it off. That's pretty much what happened before halftime last week in the GT-VT game. They didn't want to go into the half being too far behind, so they just passed the shit out of it and were lucky enough to make a lot of the catches to get down the field quick and score. Then they get behind in the 2nd half and Paul Johnson tells them to go for it on a 4th and 1 on their own 35yd line... and they get stopped. So they give the other team perfect field position to FURTHER score on them and put the game completely out of reach from then on.

My all-star picks

Ole miss > LSU
NC state > Clemson
MD > Wake Forest
kentucky > Georgia
Georgia Southern > Bama
Miss. State > Arkansas
Duke > GA Tech

Yankee joke team(pennstate) = Yankee joke team(ohiostate)

On a more serious note... I'll probably be watching the FSU v. Virginia game, in hope of VA making it watchable... and flipping around the atlantic south games above, although I probably don't want to see a very physical team power through some band geeks so I prob. won't watch ga tech v. duke. WF v. MD will prob. be lame also, maybe WF can make it somewhat watchable though.

So you're like 0 for 7 there, lol. I was at the Kentucky vs Georgia game today. It was bedlam and mayhem in downtown Athens. Traffic was a motherfucker, the entire city was pretty much a parking lot. Dunno if UGA will continue their winning streak next week against Georgia Tech though. Runningback Isiah Crowell got his ankle stomped on in the 1st quarter and never came back. The backup RB wasn't there today, dunno where the hell he was. UGA's 3rd RB really isn't much to write home about, he isn't anywhere near as shifty as Crowell. Was a LOT closer than anyone expected it to be, probably due to Crowell coming out of the game. After that, the run really wasn't much to rely on.

That OSU-Iowa State game last night was NUTS. I was rooting for Iowa State to pull off an upset to shake things up throughout the top 10 and make it interesting, but I didn't actually think they'd do it. Goes to show you that you can't take ANY game lightly, even if you're top 3, unbeaten, and in the Heisman running. LSU better take notice. One false move and they're proverbially fucked, Bama would likely leapfrog them to #1. Arkansas ain't no joke, and Georgia's game comes and goes, never know when their A++ game might show up to shock and awe you.

#2 - Okla St.
#4 - Oregon
#5 - Oklahoma
#7 - Clemson

All lose this week.  #1, 3, 6 are all SEC teams.
Will the next poll have this
#1 - LSU
#2 - Alabama
#3 - Arkansas

LSU plays Arkansas next week and Alabama plays Auburn.  If LSU and Alabama don't slip up, it could be a rematch for the national title.

Yeah, I was watching the Oregon game last night. That was a pretty good one. I honestly didn't expect this year to be anything special, but because of this past weekend and all the crazy upsets, all of the sudden it's gotten VERY interesting now. If Arkansas happens to beat LSU this Friday night and then LSU beats Georgia in the SEC title game, I have NO CLUE how they would figure out who would play the BCS bowl. At this point, if LSU wins out, obviously they will be in it. But I dunno how they'd decide between Arkansas and Alabama since LSU will have already beaten them both. I would assume that Arkansas would fall back and Alabama would move up to #2 again, but like I said, LSU already played and beat them, so I doubt the BCS voters will pick them to go to the BCS bowl. I suppose whoever is behind Arkansas and Alabama would be the team. But then that would be rather odd, usually a team further back than #3 won't get the votes. A really weird twisted situation now, like some crazy fucking soap opera script.

I'm so glad it's worked out this way though. The NFL isn't really providing much entertainment this year at all. EVERYONE sucks in the pros this year. College ball has become really the only interesting football to watch. Like I said, I had no idea it would flesh out this way this year. Beginning of the season, it looked like college football was going to be a total snoozefest. But since October, it's just gotten better and better. Can't wait to see what happens next weekend and throughout the bowl season. Should be some EXCELLENT games.

Maaaaaaaaan. I'm a little tempted to phone in a rather large wager on Detroit over Green Bay on Thursday. I got a weird hunch that someone's gonna derail their perfect season before long. Probably not though, I can't really afford to take risks on large chunks of money until maybe after Xmas time. Got some very large holiday purchases coming up, dunno if I can afford to lose anything, might end up hurting me a few months down the road. But to anyone else, if you're gonna punch a ticket on this one, I'd go large for the underdog Detroit. Most everyone else will be piling it up on Green Bay, should be a big fat pay day if they pull it off.

And too bad for Chicago losing Cutler with a broke thumb. For the first time in a few years, he's playing pretty good and not throwing 500 interceptions per game. They were looking pretty strong there, but I think they're pretty screwed offensively going with a backup QB. I know all my friends in Chicago are pretty bummed about it. They finally have Philly backing themselves against the ropes with one more punch knocking them out of them ring, and then THIS happens.

@foc

If LSU loses to arKANSAS I'm pretty sure the GUMPS would go to the SEC TITLE game...which could possibly have LSU on the outside looking in for the NAt. Title....also if OK. ST manages to beat OU move up(IF arkansas loses, not sure if they would jump lsu...:?) they could possibly have a shot due to the computers, and if the voters bump them up in the polls, could possibly hit #2  :frustration:(No one seems to want a BAMA rematch...I'll never understand why people have the balls to say that was a bad game..9-6, real smash mouth SEC football...GTFO with your 52-49 westcoast pac bullshit  :raincloud: )..Also, a one loss Virginia Tech is hanging around..with an ACC title game to play...what a terrible championship game that shit would make.

----Also fuck the bears.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
