Wow. A 5? Far too generous. I'd call it a solid even 2. The first one was terrific and an instant classic, an 8.5 or a 9. The sequel was garbage. I was so excited when I heard it was coming out because the first one was so cool. But boy was I disappointed. Putrid story with no relevence to the first film. The action scenes were far too over the top like a bad James Bond movie.

Not bad. But is it me or its just getting a bit tiring seeing the Enterprise being destroyed and rebuilt again.

The Shat's the shit. I couldn't bring myself to watch any of the Next Generation shows or anything else, it didn't flow or feel the same. Like a JJ Abrams Star Wars movie compared a George Lucas one. Just an imposter generic brand Roddenberry-free Star Trek.

yea. the rebooted franchise feels kinda different from the original series. Its kinda reinvented to capture the young movie going audiences.
For the Tv series, aside from the original, i kinda like watching ENterprise.

Unlike the 1973 original, this one isn't a movie, but: on a whim I recorded the premiere episode of Westworld on HBO tonight. I thought it was really good (a brief bit of musical tomfoolery aside.) I do have an affinity for 'ghost in the machine' sorts of tales, though. Hope they can maintain the initial level of quality through the remainder of the season.

Yahoo posted a link to the trailer a few posts ago. The trailer is actually every bit as good as the movie. No, really, the trailer is AS GOOD AS the movie. Do yourself a favor and just watch the trailer, because the full movie is pretty stupid and a waste of time. If you've seen the trailer, you've pretty much seen the whole movie. What a ripoff.

In the first 5 minutes kinda enjoyed it but later on me got sleepy. Yea your exactly right bout it. I should had known better but to keep away from Seth Rogen films or has his name attached to it.

I was finally able to find someplace online to find every episode of the old Kids in the Hall sketch comedy show. I remember back in the early 90's, my folks used to pay for HBO with their cable package, although they wouldn't allow my young fragile mind to be subjected to the evil Satanic filth that was HBO's lineup of R-rated programming past 8pm.

But occasionally I was able to catch a few episodes of Kids in the Hall, and I always thought it was one of the funniest shows on TV.

But I guess the memory of it was far funnier than the reality of it. Either that... or comedy has just somehow changed a lot in 25 years. Because so far I've made it halfway through Season 2 and I gotta say... not really as funny as I expected it would be. I remember mentioning the show to [EoM]Processor many years ago because it was a show based out of Canada, and he was from Canada. He said he never watched it because it was filled with so much gay shit, like Scott Thompson (who was a flaming homo) and all of them constantly dressing up like women in every episode. And at the time I told him something like, "Well the guys in Monty Python always dressed like women, and they do that all the time on sketch comedy shows, especially the ones with no women in the regular cast because they HAVE to." But now that I seriously watch the show... he had a point. Yeah, it's pretty damned gay, lol.

And I was also pretty shocked by the early episodes of season 1 (which originally aired in late 1988). In one episode, Scott Thompson does his gay bar Buddy Cole monologue bit where he mentions how people think of blacks as being inferior to whites. It was just so cringe-worthy, because there's NO WAY IN HELL anyone could get away with saying what he said on television today, hell no. And in another episode, Mark McKinney goes full blackface to play an old black bluesman. Again, something you'd NEVER get away with on tv now days. And I'm reminded of movies like Soul Man with C. Thomas Howell painting himself dark brown to pass himself off as a black guy. And then there was the old Richard Pryor and Gene Wilder movie called Silver Streak where Gene Wilder paints himself black with shoe polish to get passed the cops looking for them at a train station. Movies like that couldn't possibly get made anymore. And if they were put out there, it would be career suicide of epic proportions for anyone that attempted it. Thing is... I don't think anyone would be particularly offended by any of these instances of "blackface" other than the obligatory response of offense that we've been programmed by society to have since then. And maybe it makes people think I'm a racist prick, but I think it kinda sucks to completely remove that comedic premise from the palette of available comedy gags. I dunno, it's maybe a good thing, but on the other hand, I don't like the idea of creativity having limits placed on it.
