Realllly wasn't expecting much (
rented this evening on amazon video
) but... 'twas enjoyable and amusing.
Four stories woven together, interspersed with scenes of William Shatner as an increasingly boozing self-consciously P.C.-phobic radio DJ stalwartly continuing to spin christmas tunes as chaos descends on the town...
Nothing groundbreaking, but nicely put-together. The actor who played the resignedly badass Santa getting his war on seemed perfect for the role.

I was considering joining all the other fucking yutzes and heading out to the movies Xmas night, but I was just too tired. For once, they actually had some really good shit coming out Xmas day.
The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio was supposed to be really good. It's got Leo DiCaprio in it, he's an awesome actor, so of course it's gonna be good.
And if that wasn't enough, there's the new Quentin Tarantino movie, The Hateful Eight, starring Samuel L Jackson and my boy Walton Goggins. There's NO WAY that movie can be anything BUT totally fucking awesome.
I think the new remake of Point Break might've come out last night too. Yeah, Point Break.
I'll admit, as fucking AWFUL of an actor as Keanu Reeves was in that movie (and pretty much ALL movies he's in), I still kinda liked the movie. Kinda for the same reason I like Road House. It's Patrick Swayze. It's a classic action movie. It's not one of the best movies ever made, the acting isn't terrific, but it's still just plain fun to watch. But... I don't imagine that a remake of Point Break will be anything I'll give a shit to sit through. There's no Patrick Swayze. There's no Gary Busey. We could've done without this movie.

Heist.
Starring Robert DeNiro and a bunch of other douches. One of those other douches being Gina Carano. I swear, my right hand to fucking God, Gina Carano pretty much single handedly ruined this movie. She is really THAT terrible of an actor. It's a pretty shitty script to begin with. But oh my holy fucking clitoris cleaving jesus balls, Gina Carano is literally the worst "actress" in the history of movies.
I think from now on in states where they don't have the death penalty anymore, they should instead sentence people to "life in prison without the possibility of being able to turn off the tv that's always showing a Gina Carano movie."
Holy fuck, she's bad.

Hardcore Henry
Q: What does Hardcore Henry and a pile of shit have in common?
A: Everything.
Maybe a bit too harsh of a critique... but maybe not. Not the absolute WORST movie I've ever seen, but it's a great distance away from qualifying as "good". The story/plot and most of the dialogue is retarded as hell. so cliche and done-to-death. The whole thing is shot in 1st-person perspective, which is really gimmicky and dumb in my opinion, especially for a big production theater release film like this. That kind of unusual-ness is typically better suited to short films and youtube junk. However, some of the action sequences are kinda cool from that perspective and choreographed well, and it's really the one and only redeeming quality about the movie.

Ha! Holy shit, at first I thought it was gonna be some shitty Disney Pixar movie. But I was kinda like... why would they call it "Sausage Party"? That's a little crude. And why would yahoo call a god damned Disney shit-fest "interesting"?
And then they started dropping the F-bomb, and I was like "Ooooooooooooo, I think I got trolled by hollywood."
------------------------------------------
...and now for something completely different.
------------------------------------------
Central Intelligence
- 8/10
Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Kevin Hart.
Not bad at all. Pretty good actually. I figured a movie with a huge hulking ex-wrestler and a tiny black comedian would be so cliche, and it kinda was, but amazingly enough, they pulled it off and it was still really funny.

Been on a Jason Statham binge lately. God I love Putlocker. Click on an actors name and it gives you links to videos of damn near every movie they've ever been in. I usually like Jason Statham's movies. 90% of them follow the classic action movie format, and I love that. But there's one that I do not love.
In The Name of the King (2007) PG-13
REMEMBER THAT MOVIE TITLE! If you ever find a DVD or bluray copy of this movie anywhere, do the world a favor and
BURN IT!
Oh my god, what a smelly pile of shit this movie is. Directed by Uwe Boll. I don't think I've ever seen one movie he's ever directed that HAS NOT been crap. If you've never seen this movie, GOOD! Continue never seeing it!
Another Jason Statham movie I didn't particularly care for:
Revolver (2005)
Directed by Guy Ritchie. Not a bad director, I like some of his movies. This one starts off good, but the end just gets really weird and psychological.

Just watched
The Big Short
on Netflix, really well constructed.
https://www.netflix.com/title/80075560
Dark comedy / drama, based on true events, about a few individuals who realized why and when the subprime mortgage / housing bubble was going to burst (in 2008) before everyone else.

The Big Short
...based on true events,...
Saw it last year I think. More truth than fiction to it though. Banks scooping tons of shitty destined to default loans into a pile so large that no one would want to sift through it all and see what was really there. Rating agencies consciously electing NOT to investigate the contents of bundled/tranche securities and slapping an A (or better) rating on them and collecting their fee. All of it was completely true. There's a name for it, it's called FRAUD. They got away with it too. Virtually no one went to jail over it and no one was charged with a crime when CLEARLY it was criminal. The media made the Occupy Wallstreet folks out to be a bunch of brainless crybabies who were misguidedly taking their frustration with the economic depression out on a convenient target. NO! They had good reason to be screaming up at the stock exchange windows. And look what all their peaceful protesting got them... JACK SHIT.
This is why it kinda doesn't matter who you're gonna vote for in November. It's not like anything in this shithole country is fair or a democracy of the people anymore. We work, we buy shit, we stimulate the economy, and we pay taxes. That's all we're good for in their opinions. We're not important enough to make decisions.

10 Cloverfield Lane
If you haven't seen this movie yet, but you think you might want to, then maybe stop reading now. Because there's really no way I can get this rant off without spoiling it.
What the fuck did I just watch? I dunno if it was good or not. No, seriously, I fucking DO NOT. The acting was good I suppose. The plot/story held together well enough I suppose. But by the time it's over and I'm reflecting on it, I still somehow feel screwed over and duped by what I
think
was some lazy and/or drunken screenplay writing. It's like they couldn't decide if they wanted to make a horror movie about a deranged serial killer, or a movie about a doomsday apocalypse scenario, or maybe a zombie movie, or maybe a sci-fi alien movie. So instead of just picking one, they fuckin' did ALL of it and just drunkenly puzzle-pieced it together in a somewhat coherent fashion. I mean holy shit. I honestly don't KNOW if it was a good movie. It held my attention, I didn't wanna holler "This sucks!" and turn it off. I wanted to see how it ended. And when a movie has enough good suspense and mystery to make you say that, you're usually rewarded at the end with a great "twist" that defies what you've been thinking all along was going to happen. But this movie doesn't do that. What you thought was too fucking retarded to happen is precisely what happens. You're like, "No. That'd be way too easy. So there's NO WAY that's gonna happen." And then... IT FUCKING HAPPENS. Like I said, it wasn't a terrible movie, but I still somehow feel
victimized
by it afterwards.
Anyway, the first 95% of the movie is decent. It's that final climactic 5% that kinda shits all over the rest of it.

Spring Breakers
Worst movie ever. Worse than Showgirls. Dumbest fucking plot ever. The plot is so terrible that the movie could've been 30 minutes long instead of 1hr 40mins and you'd still cover every single plot point, however... they decided to dress it up as some artsy and deeply poetic douchebaggery, which added an extra hour to it. A GRUELING AGONIZING extra hour of dialog being repeated over and over as an artsy faggy voice over narraritive during cliche scenes of MTV spring breakism and pointless overused shots of scenes with expensive fancy lighting techniques that do not BUY this movie an excuse to be so motherfucking horrible. I would hesitate to call this film a piece of shit for fear of unfairly judging all the completely innocent pieces of actual human shit-turds in the world. Turds live a hard enough life as it is.

7/10
A very entertaining comedy/hostage thing starring George Clooney and Julia Roberts. To far from realism but good to past your time.

Sausage Party
Yahoo posted a link to the trailer a few posts ago. The trailer is actually every bit as good as the movie. No, really, the trailer is AS GOOD AS the movie. Do yourself a favor and just watch the trailer, because the full movie is pretty stupid and a waste of time. If you've seen the trailer, you've pretty much seen the whole movie. What a ripoff.
