Tourney has start, you can still join in if it is in the First Round - Check the signups thread and simply signup. You will be added to the waiting list and replacing dropping out players (or filling BYEs since the brackets weren't all filled)

hmm players indicate where they wanna go? i gues that make sense, people will compete where they feel they stand a chance, i just hope people dont join brackets too easy for them, i personally want to go with sport since there is a novice bracket, but i still feel like id be too good for that and not good enough for pro

lol laurelin, theres are many pro players remaining, only one of them is going to win the cash prize, and not every one of them thinks that they have a shot of winning that cash prize

Concerning the 'Cheating' Dilemma. We will have a 5-person committee appointed to wallhack tracking. They will inspect demos if some accusations arise ~ with top-tier high-tech detecting tools.

And will vote if yes or no the player is cheating.

I will post later about it. That being said - no clients are forced. Only demo recording.

After some discussion with influent persons, Tastyspleen will force the use of q2advance for the 'Pro-Bracket'.

I agree when it stays in the realm of fun-sport gaming. But if you want to get a fair tourney with high-level competitors, where cheating is always an issue. I believe it is the least to use an actively-updated anti-cheat client. Sport bracket and Novice Do Not force any client.

I have seen most of these players on the Tastyspleen servers. The Novice and Sport bracket should/will be filled with them. The Pro bracket might get more players from q2players but it is exactly what I aimed for, seeing as we have three brackets possible. While it still offers three level of competition for our Tastyspleeners, it also welcomes outsiders to join in Tastyspleen.

Please tell me how this is so wrong to you?

demon you belong in sport bracket, unless you are willing to be dedicated and practice for this tournament which would put you in th e pro bracket, its really up to how much dedication you want to put in

1) well, obviously the people in the pro bracket don't have an issue with q2a, so I am out of place to even bring it up -- since it doesn't apply to me at all.
2) I was thinking of the tournament in the opposite direction -- it should be designed for the general TS players, IMVHO. I'd MUCH rather have (and watch) Rookie[MOD] flounce Floating Turd than watch Elysium edge Rehash.
although one bracket has it's advantages (esp with double-elim), I do want multiple brackets.

I guess I don't like that there are 2 Sport brackets and no Novice bracket(s).
(for the record, the novice bracket is a misnomer... it should be called AAA or something.. these aren't novice players by any means)
that is why I suggested the points system. Bleach and Kyper can play the novice bracket, but they still can only win 10 pts(or something)... whereas the Sport bracket victor would garner a mighty 50 pts or something. Bleach's 10pts would look pretty sad compared to Banes' 50 on the ranking page now wouldn't it? as it is, there is no reason to join the Sport bracket (besides honor) over the Novice bracket.
and making the Pro bracket so elitist, why would c-12 want that kind of pressure? If I had his skill, I'd join the Sport bracket too, just to have fun playing the game. No pressure, just fun.
The weakest player who has signed up for the last 2 tournaments can win map after map on the TS servers... and that is my complaint. There isn't room in this tournament for anything short of a 'Sport' level player. I'd like to be able to invite people to join us, but I can't because the tournament is really for experienced, near-experts only.

lastly, I regret having a rude tone in my previous post. YOU are doing something for all of us, I'm just sitting back doing nothing.

Well DEMOn, its all relative to who joins.

If 30 tastyspleen novice players sign-up right away in the Novice-Bracket, will you care anymore about the few ones who could join higher brackets?

People should not be scared to join the bracket that defines them, regardless of who's in. This is how things will get a perfect balance. Of course if you look at names and get scared it won't help.

The Novice bracket as it is right now can definitly accomodate the n00best 1on1 players imo - even though they will probably get defeated (that's the point anyway, to eventually improve in it. You dont expect them to win it all).

Another problem with those players you point (tastyspleen novice bunch) is that they have no interest in tourneys - let alone if they even know the forums exist. For many people it is only an hour of fun they spend on q2 that they don't wanna waste on forums and scheduling stuff.

You are right though that there are players who could fit in sport bracket, and vice-versa (as well for pro-sport). But this was their choice on how skilled they felt they were. And I don't wanna place them myself as it would be much more unfair as it is now.

Also - c12 switched to Sport Bracket
Oh, and DEMOn - you are Sport material. enough said.
