I see several players on tourney with q2a that indicate modded models, weapons etc and -1 server codes and even 2 identical player ids from 2 different ips and online at same time.

Since q2a is mandatory for the PRO level does that mean no modded weapons, models etc as who is to say those "MAY" be cheats disquised as model mod etc.

I am all for catching cheaters / hackers etc. but do have to question does mandating a particular client really benefit or is it just a warm and fuzzy feeling.  What is a cheat and how fine a point to put on its definition.

Aggain I hate cheaters, love to catch the scum of the earth types, but get an uneasy feeling placing trust in what has always proven to be a pipe dream.

Use your instincs, gut feelings, if you suspect it of someone and they come off as someone you wouldnt put it past to cheat, you'r instincts are probaly right.

people who say that q2a shouldnt be enforced simply dont know what they are talking about... ive been starting to use r1 a little bit just because my video has never been better without it.. but other than that q2a is a good thing. oh and anyone thinking to join the pro bracket, there is no one here.. (exclusing naymlis, he posted) that can even compare to the likes of miked, sinurgy, naymlis, dahang, or even rehash.. and LETS NOT FORGET damiah. Debating which bracket to join is nonsense.

Fanny the problem with the player ID's is known and suppose to be fixed in next beta.  I have seen a few others with the same pID as me since the day we discovered it was a problem.  I will be the first to admit q2a isnt perfect, but it is far from unplayable.

My issue isnt with playability, I stink at quake2 so a particular clients playability doesnt come into play for me. I applaud people taking the time to try to produce a client that helps in catching or preventing cheats but dont have a lot of faith in them as the people (scum) on the other side of the fence are just as vigilant is hacking em. If a 100 bucks(prizes) causes paranoa (whether founded or not) over cheaters in what is supposed to be a fun game, then I think it should be left out of future tourneys.

Q2A may be the greatest thing since sliced bread but most assuredly will be hacked as have the clients in the past and we will be back where we started. Again.

I see so many witch hunts based in emotion and personal points of view that end up yielding nothing but more speculation and the circle starts again

fine witch hunt doesnt work only because youre taking it in such a literal context, lets take the red scare instead then (you do believe in communists right? ) its the same idea whether those hunted were accused of something that actually existed is irrelevant to the idea that i meant by the use of that analogy, in your original post you promoted a more vigilante style aggression of accusing people, to follow your gut instinct and all that and you gave very vague descriptions of how to pinpoint cheaters, this was obviously directed at those who participate in dm, not at a council who watches demos with the wall hax on, obviously you would not need to advise them on how to do their job any better, however what you are suggesting would lead to an increased amount of witch hunts (yes i said it, because you know what the red scare was a witch hunt as well, but where were the witches tho? its just a figure of speech), i can jus picture it now dumb ass newbs like omega being the impressionable dimwits they are coming into the server and accusing vga members of aim botting or walling, daelmun would be accused of speed hax or some other bull shit, and laurelin would be accused of fag hax (its almost superhuman to have such a feminine screen name and real name ) but the point is i dont want to hear a bunch of morons throwing around the term 'bot' 'wall' or 'hax', we have more than enough dumb asses doing that as it is, leave the detection to the discretion of the capable council

The debate about Cheating Client is old and getting redundant, we all know everything will be hacked. But we hold to what anti-cheat clients we have that are still working - until we have the proof that they are hacked. And then we move on to something new - That's the best we can get.

**Update**

In a Double-Elimination tourney - with a 32-players bracket. We can get as much as 11 Rounds to be played. With the current Round/Week 1:1 Ratio - I have been suggested more than one time about reducing the Round-Span.

The Pro-Bracket will have its round-span reduced. Refer to the 'Rnd-Days' Column in the Table in my last post for the number of days for the different Rounds. This will give a Tourney of a bit over 5 weeks, compared to a 11 weeks tourney.

I will let the Round/Week Ratio at 1:1 for the Novice & Sport Bracket. If its participants wish a recuded span as well - just message me or reply.

i like this idea, basically people in losers bracket have less time to complete their match which makes sense to me, if they want to stay in the tourney they will have to hustle to fit the schedule, not as much room for dicking around then, sounds good i request that we do the same for the sport bracket, i would recommened the same for novice but since im not in that bracket i cant speak for others

May sound like a cheat, but guess what, half the people you play have been doing it for years and they already have an advantage on you so q2a is your way of making it fair. q2a is more than an anti cheat, its making the playing field much more fair, giving novice players access to resources and advantages that people have had for years.

two wrongs don't make a right.
I've been pleased to see that many of the TS players(in the tournaments) are still using the real game.... with very few enhancements.
(this next part is not aimed at Everkill, but just an observation...)
If there comes a time I have to use bright skins, white textures, modified pakfiles, timers, clients that modify fps caps, etc..., I will stop playing because the game is gone.  I'm interested in having fun everytime I play, not frags and my position on the scorescreen.

Alright!!, a level playing field, is he coming out with a version with fracnk, rat, wall and nose paks so we can finish leveling the field, I mean lots of people have been doing it for years
