I read most of it since I have nothing better to do at work sitting here on irc. Aside from his reaper-like writing structure and endless quotes, the content is respectable. It seems he's reached the same conclusion I have about religion but took a slightly different path.

I just read most of it, and agree with most of the conslusions.  Particularly the reasoning related to the text in the bible having been edited and translated.  It's indeed strange to me how folks these days regard the Bible as some complete work from which nothing should be added or removed, when it's an accepted historical fact that in early centuries A.D. religious scholars of the time made personal decisions about which chapters to include, which to leave out, etc.

to some people, science (through physics, biology, chemistry, etc.) hasn't shown us an answer, or even led us in the right direction (in terms of a complete explanation of all things).   Personally I'm interested in the odds of a universe like this forming, at the inception of the "big bang", because accidents usually don't form something like this earth..

reaper, if the world is such a perfect place, why is there so much suffering?  Like myself, I've been sick the past 3 years with chronic mental fatigue, chronic nausea, chronic appetite loss, digestive problems, among other things.  I have good reasons to believe something has colonized my stomach, likely something fungal (as the only things that help are antifungals).  How is that perfect?  Maybe I get some benefits out of this situation, but I suffer a lot more than what I get out of it.

How come you keep repeating this claim?

How come you keep repeating this claim?  It's obviously false when you consider individuals, e.g. millions of people right now dying of starvation, genocide, disease, etc.

For your "perfect balance" notion to even have a chance of being true, you have to totally ignore individual lives.

Which seems to render it a pretty useless idea, to me.

the world being perfect is not obviously false to me, when you consider that millions of people have and are suffering.  If people on this forum would be less apt to criticize one another, and respect people opinions, I'd be more inclined to elaborate on why the world is perfect (or why I believe the world is perfect ; o ).
