Oh. Did I say 600 horsepower? Ugh, silly me. Cuz 600 just wouldn't be enough to get you to and from the grocery store. Nah, this badass motherfucker's got SEVEN HUNDRED PLUS horsepower. Yeah, 707hp. Can you say... "holy shit"? Just to put that in perspective for those who aren't as knowledgeable about the normal horsepower numbers of motor vehicles... a brand new Honda Accord with the bigger V6 motor (instead of the "standard" 4 cyl.) has about 275hp. A brand new Toyota Camry with the bigger V6 has about 285hp. And a NASCAR Sprint Cup race car motor, at about 850hp, they only put out about 150 more hp than the supercharged Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Now... in a head to head drag race against a NASCAR race car, that's just too much to make it a competition. But compared to everything else that's on the road, including the suped up pursuit packages that are on a lot of state patrol and various police vehicles these days, there isn't much out there at all that can hold a candle to this beast.

From my perspective, that's one thing Dodge has been notorious for in their cars and trucks: piss poor handling. Especially their trucks. I've got a mid-2000's Dodge Ram 2WD v6, and it'll make your butthole pucker inside out when you're hauling a heavier load down a paved road peppered with potholes and bumps. It's like the rear suspension is way too stiff and rebounds so hard from a bounce that it feels like the rear is lifting off the ground. NOT GOOD when the only power is coming from those two wheels that aren't on the ground anymore. I used to go camping a lot up in the mountains around the Dahlonega, Helen, and Mount Yonah areas. Running down some of those backwoods unpaved mountain roads with troughs carved in them every which way from years of rain runoff and no grading maintenance or gravel, that shit made me nervous as all hell a couple times in the fog that always sets in up there. There's no two ways about it, you slip off the road up there in just the right spot, you're gonna roll down a 50 or 60 degree mountainside to your death until the pine trees stop you, and even if you survive it's gonna be a week before anyone finds you.

Charger Hellcat gets 22mpg highway. Kinda embarrassing because I think my old Ram 1500, which is only a V6 by the way, gets about the same and doesn't have NEARLY that much power.

Then again, they "SAY" it gets 22mpg. That "actually" means it's probably more like 19mpg. Still, not too bad for anything turning out more than 700hp. But it's kinda got me wondering what the true potential of this car is. If there's one thing that's true, it's that anything Dodge makes always comes standard with HORRIBLY programmed computer controlled electronic fuel regulation. I've had friends that owned those giant Ram 3500 Cummins turbodiesel road monsters that claim to have gotten about 10 to 15mpg more after using some kinda aftermarket reprogramming shit. Yeah, 15 sounds kinda high to me, might be bullshit, I dunno. They also say they definitely get better and more accurate control with the throttle, which doesn't seem to have hurt gas mileage either. All the cars these days are all but castrated by the electronic fuel delivery systems that eases the throttle open slower even when you stomp on the gas pedal from a dead stop. Back in the good old days, you just had a plain jane carburetor that would perform just like the pedal it's connected to. These days all that shit's controlled by the computer and apparently can be reprogrammed to perform better. So I'm kinda wondering what tweaking the fuel/air ratios would do to this 707hp street legal racecar. I'd guess 715hp might even be possible, who knows. Definitely better than 22mpg though.

It's kinda retarded to think that they'd be stupid enough to retail these motherfuckers starting at $60,000, make it the most badass modern musclecar on the market, and still clusterfuck the electronic fuel system like they would on some $25k minivan mommie-mobile... but I wouldn't put it past them.

80 thousand base... so let's say possibly 100 or more for one with all the bells and whistles. And still a shitload cheaper than what the Charger Hellcat is supposed to fetch. I read something the other day stating that someone bid as much 800,000 for one. Granted this was for some kind of charity, so that price was already going to be very high. But it's still reasonable to assume to people will pay at least 1/4th of that (200,000) once dealers start getting stock. And like the infamous PT Cruiser (what an all-hype piece of shit mommie-mobile that one turned out to be

), it'll probably get that all day every day for the first year, and then later, it'll drastically drop back down to it's suggested retail range when Dodge, just like they did with the PT Cruiser, starts making more than the demand on them will command the higher price. Either that, or people will come to their senses and realize that a car which gets gas mileage as bad as a 1 ton truck isn't quite so desirable.

I've dated chicks before and escorted them to their friends weddings, some of which were way too damn expensive. Flowers, catering, dresses, open bar, live bands, etc etc etc. For the money some of these idiots spent on a wedding, they could've put a nice down payment on a fucking house that would be all their own instead of living in some apartment complex where they'd have to deal with asshole neighbors stomping around on the floor above them or making noise at all hours of the night, no close parking spots, having to haul groceries and shit up 2 flights of perilous stairs every time they got home, etc etc.
