Don't even know what that is. Looks like the hood ornament is missing, and I can't quite make out the emblem on the top of the grille. Not a ford, not a chevy, not a plymouth or chrysler.

That's definitely a labor intensive restore. Looks like most of the parts are there already. Body doesn't look too bad either. Looks like maybe a few little wrinkles in the seams on the rear fenders, those could be problematic. I imagine that if someone was gonna restore it, they might just opt to leave that part alone and repaint over it. With cars that old, you really never know how much body work is "required" until you get the paint off to see what's underneath. But from what little I see, the interior looks like a disaster. Seats are gonna need new foam/padding, cuz I bet the old stuff probably smells like dead wet dog, wouldn't wanna have to smell that. Maybe some black leather with white piping accents for the reupholster, or vinyl to go a little cheaper and give yourself more options with colors, maybe gray or some kinda two-tone customization. I imagine the wood dash parts are either split and busted all to hell or completely missing. Needs some polished nickel wheels or something to match the grill and headlights to class it up a little too. The interior is probably where you'd rack up huge unpredictable costs. She'd probably be a money pit, and I doubt you'd ever live long enough to get out of it what you dumped into it, but god damn if that thing wouldn't look gangster done up right and rolling down the freeway. The suicide doors are cool, and they were all like that because it would've been a pain in the ass getting in and out with that rear wheel hump in the way. Not really my kinda car though. Maybe when I get old and gray, my tastes will shift to something more that pace. But for my money, something from that general era is gonna be one of those smaller 2-door cars that kids in the 50's would've wanted to hotrod out.

Finally something all-American right off the assembly line that will give any State Patrol car with their after-market pursuit packages installed a legit run for their money.

2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, 600+ hp supercharged 6.2L Hemi v8.

I have a FUCKING boner.

Not too terribly steep. I saw something listing the msrp at $45,000. These days Dodge kinda cuts corners on some things and uses cheaper materials and quicker easier assembly methods to cut costs and compete better. End result is that you'll probably pay less for a Dodge Ram than a very similar model Ford F-150, and same goes for their cars too. I will applaud Dodge for one thing though: they put together their vehicles a little more intelligently and owner friendly. You won't need any specialty tools to take them apart, and the process of taking them apart is easier. Dunno if you've ever worked on one of those foreign cars (and very often, GM cars too, those fuckin dicks) where you end up having to take half the fucking motor apart just to reach the one part you're trying to replace that had nothing to do with those other parts of the motor. And it's always a part that is most likely to fail earlier than anything else, but they don't bother thinking about that in the design process. They just draw it up, get it approved, and throw it out on the assembly line. What do they care, they're engineers, not car techs, let those greasemonkey fucks worry about it. :ohlord:

Nice. Guy I know still has an old 77 or 78 (I forget exactly) special edition Smokey and the Bandit Trans Am all original. Needs a little TLC, but he's kept it in a garage since the 90's so it ain't nothing too serious. Some basic maintenance under the hood and probably a little minor interior work to get it cherry again. I think he's been trying to sell it since forever but he ain't willing to come off his asking price which is too damn high, so he probably never will. :D

don't know if this is the right thread to post this question but since this is the man thread I think someone can advice me .

Ive been doing some renovations at home and theres this stupid cement floor that I would like have to leveled. I was thinking of buying an electric jackhammer rather than renting one to break the cement.

Anyone have any experience on using an electric jackhammer?
Btw the floor is not reinforced and about 1 foot thick.

Was also thinking of using dexpan but I don't have the right drill for poking holes.

I'm trying to wrap my head around this.  :D Cement floor is where exactly? IN the house and poured over wood to a thickness of 1 foot? I have never seen anything like that in my life. WHY would someone do such a thing? If that's the case, you got one HELLUVA a problem. Dexpan ain't an option as it would probably bust up the wood underneath it. Something like that portable electric jackhammer or even better a hammerdrill would be just about your one and only option. And it would take lots of time, muscle, and careful surgical movement not to beat holes through the wood beneath it.

Surely that shit ain't poured directly over wood somewhere in your house. That's just retarded. Who would do such a thing?

Even I could not believe what happened. Actually, while I was away from my place coz of work assignments, I decided to have the place rented to a friend.
It was my friends mom who did it.

She was some kind of nutjob trying to be an architect/contractor.
She was having some issues with some rain puddle and mud so as a simple minded solution decided to pour some cement on the area (its on the back of the house). She did it several times until it build up to about a foot thick.

I did have some nasty discussion with her and gave me some money for its removal.

I did check on the cements hardness and its really not solid since the cement to was poorly mixed. Also, underneath is plain earth.

So it is not inside the house.  It sounds almost like a back porch type area.
Can it expand on 3 sides ?  If so, I would dexpan it from the outer edges and then move more inward.
If it is structural or has no room for expansion, jackhammer it carefully.

If it's on the outside rent/pay someone to get a backhoe and get it out.  The amount of trouble to NOT hit the wood underneath isn't worth the extra time imho.  Unless you're digging up a body, buried treasure, etc.

I'm still not entirely getting what you're dealing with. Sounds like a homemade patio outside of the house from the way you describe it. If it's sitting on dirt, yeah, that's no problem at all. Like SgtDick said, if any of it is up against the house, it kinda depends on WHAT it's touching as to how careful you'll wanna be trying to get it out. If it's up against brick masonry or if you've got one of those slab-on-grade houses with a giant concrete foundation under the entire house (which more than likely, it's one of those two), then getting the cement mix demo'd out will be simple. It'll be muscle-work and not much fun at all, but unskilled enough that you wouldn't need a pro to do it.

If you don't have a jackhammer or a hammerdrill, you could go out and buy one but there really isn't a need to do so. If it's something you're only gonna use once, why spend that much?  A regular corded drill will probably do the trick. Something with a decent amount of torque and power, and a 6 amp drill or more will work. All you'll have to buy is some special bits for drilling into concrete and those are cheaper than buying a whole new powertool. Then all you gotta do is start drilling a line of holes a few inches apart about 10 inches or so from the edge of the "slab". Since it ain't a hammerdrill, you'll have to be a little careful drilling, because if the bit gets bound up inside the hole, the bit's gonna stop turning and then it'll just be the drill that's turning and it could tweak your wrist, so keep both hands firm on that thing. Then once you got a line of pilot holes drilled out, start whacking along the line with a big long handled sledge. I'd recommend wearing eye protection for that part, some shop goggles would be best. Once you get along the house, maybe a shovel would be able to pry the cement in one piece up and away from the house. Take your shovel, dig it in under the piece of concrete at about 45deg, then lay a 2x4 or something close up under the shovel and use that for leverage to push the cement up. Then do the same thing against the house, set the 2x4 on the outside wall of the house to push the cement away from the house.

If it's poorly mixed cement, you might not even need to drill any holes, it'll be brittle enough to just hammer it away with a sledge.

Get some pictures of this thing first though. A woman that knows nothing about concrete slab making or concrete finishing. This I gotta see.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Even I cannot understand what the old lady had in mind and trying to do.
The thing is I wanna get rid of it. Its floor is laid partially like some sort of very ugly patio or idk hard to explain. Its just plain old ugly disgusting.
It has a roof (though Im planning to demolish it)

And no room to expand on 3 sides.
Cant use a backhoe coz it wont fit the narrow clearance between the main house and wall.

Ill take some shots tomorrow so you can see and show off. :P

I've got this picture in my head. I'm imagining its like a half-assed patio done with cement rather than proper concrete, and where the ground beneath it was never graded/leveled properly, the edges of it were never framed properly so it's just a fuckin' BLOB, and the top of it isn't finished at all and is just lumpy like cottage cheese, hahaha!

And if anyone's wondering what I mean by concrete "finishing", more than likely your driveway is brush finished, and more than likely your garage floor is smooth finished. Brush finishing is much quicker and easier because it usually doesn't have to be absolutely 100% level in all places and it's where they go in one direction with a straw broom over the top while it's still wet to give it that grain pattern once it dries. Smooth finishing is more trouble because it shows trowel marks if you do it wrong and it's supposed to be as level and free of dips as humanly possible. Exterior stuff is almost always brush finished because if it were smooth finished and it rained, it can become a slip hazard. That bumpy grainy pattern provides traction like the gravel in asphalt on paved roads.

Quake 2 needs a public square.

This is not a debate.

If you were attached to reality, you'd realize that.

Quake 2 needs a private bathroom.
