For the first 2 or 3 miles I'd probably be shitting in my pants. Then towards the middle I'd probably get over it and realize I'm okay and then start laughing at how insane the situation is. Then towards the end, I'd inevitably get over the humorous aspect of it, stop laughing, and then turn the radio on out of boredom and wait for the dumbass trucker to finally realize he's pulling more weight than when he started driving that day.

Seriously, that trucker is a fucking moron. Any competent experienced trucker is gonna know what it feels like when he gets an extra 1000+ pounds added to the load he's pulling, even in a fucking whiteout blizzard with high winds.

Probably a camera somewhere on the bridge. I think most bridges have cameras installed on them now as part of the post-9/11 security bullshit the federal government passed. Bridges would make likely targets for terrorists. On larger bridges like the ones in New York City and San Fransisco, they actually have people watching the cameras at all times to make sure people aren't pulling over to hide explosives or leaving cars/trucks parked on them that may be rigged with explosives. It wouldn't stop a suicide bomber from detonating a U-Haul van packed to the roof with assloads of ammonium nitrate while he was in motion somewhere on the middle of the bridge. But at the very least, if you have car trouble while going over the Brooklyn Bridge, you can be assured someone will be along very shortly to assist you.

Fuck, write MORE for this shit, I say. A car's a deadly fucking weapon. You wouldn't shoot clay pigeons with a shotgun in one hand and a cheeseburger in the other. You wouldn't believe how many accidents were due to people not paying full attention to where they're going. Happens all the damn time up where I live. I'm not too far from the interstate and it's a mere 2 lanes up here. In the mornings, everybody's running 80-85 mph, both lanes packed in like sardines, everybody with about 1/4th of a car length between the bumpers, almost like they're racing NASCAR and trying to fucking draft. When shit happens and someone slams on breaks, people skid off the interstate into the emergency lane and median to keep from skidding into the ass of the person in front of them. And sometimes... they don't miss the person in front of them. And then traffic gets ALL fucked up and everyone's late as shit to work. And 9 times out of 10, such chain reaction sandwich pile-ups happen because someone was distracted.

And that bullshit is precisely why if I ever have to head towards Atlanta at that time of the morning when I know I'm gonna get caught in the middle of that shit, I always take the backroads. It's a helluva lot better for my health to get pissed off about having to sit through a bunch of red lights on surface streets rather than getting me and my Harley sandwiched into a pancake between a Ford F-150 and a minivan. This white boy ain't got health insurance. If I survive some shit like that, I'm liable to seriously wish I HADN'T once I get the medical bills.
