I had neighbors across the hall at my last place that set off their fire alarm about 5 times weekly in their attempts to cook what smelled like heavily burned dog in curry. I didn't sleep well till they moved.

Nah, meth cook stench is a horrible odor hard to mistake for anything else. The trash vapors are pretty toxic. That's why people often cook in mobile labs like the RV on Breaking Bad, so they can release the stank-assed gases without anyone noticing it. Or if they live in a pretty remote area, they just set up in their house and release it from ducts out a window or chimney. The real idiots that end up blowing up their houses along with half of the neighborhood will snake hoses down a sink drain or the toilet to where the gas will evacuate into the sewer or the septic tank.

More likely they were just Vietnamese or Indian.

Wow. Only 2 years in prison for killing AND EATING a baby? I guess if Jeff Dahmer could've held off on the fruity man-fucking part of it, Pakistan would've been an ideal hunting ground for him.

And just to put it into perspective, I'm pretty sure you'd get about the same sentence for stealing and slaughtering your neighbors goat in Pakistan. A truly fucked up set of priorities those people apparently have.

Uhh. What the hell is that??

It's a playthrough of something called Dear Esther. It was marketed as a game,but it' has little to do in the way of interaction for the player,so I will call it more of an interactive narrative. An enviorment for the protagonist to wander through,its mood seeping into the rocks of the emotions as the ambiance carries one along with weary treads,and the narrator unfolding the reasons for his being there,the things he sees,and the strange history of the place he now seems destined to be immersed into. It was originally a Half Life 2 mod,but was given the permissions and resources to turn it into a stand alone product. Like a novel,it is a story telling construction the hero physically plods through,and unlike a novel,replaying gives subtle variations of the narrations and other small details in the overall experience of solitude,melancholy and desolation. I played through it over the weekend,a well spent hour,and for those not inclined to give the experience a try I found the video to share.

I see it as an experiment that worked,and very happy that an Occulous Rift version was made for this virtual reality. Life isn't normally buzzcuts and bullets,nor legendary loot pried from the corpses of polygonal stuntmen. Sometimes its realizing one tormented soul finding relief in release,lost to an uncaring world Like Tears in Rain. And worth experiencing,if only to give context to your own life.
