That is why I would NEVER EVER EVER want to live in a multistory apartment complex. Depends on the construction of the place though I guess. Since that fire was spreading so much like that, I assume all the framing and floors were made of wood. I've worked on a few that were concrete floors with sheet steel framing for all the walls. That's a much safer way of building apartments, and should be the required standard in my opinion. If I had no other option but to live in an apartment, that's the only way I'd agree to do it. In concrete multistory buildings, once they get all the concrete poured for the floors, they go in and spray this fire-proof insulation stuff all over the steel support beams and the ceilings that prevents any fires from weakening the steel and compromising the structure. It's basically impossible for fires to pass from floor to floor. And when you live in an apartment complex with that many other people, you always run the risk of ONE of the other people there being a dumbass and somehow causing a fire. I ain't gonna leave the fate of my entire life and everything I've ever worked for at the mercy of some jackass who'd leave a few scented candles burning on their wooden coffee table while they take a nap or something stupid like that.
