2012 NCAA Football Rankings (TOP 10) - Week 10 (Oct. 28)
  • Alabama (8-0)
  • Kansas State (8-0)
  • Notre Dame (8-0)
  • Oregon (8-0)
  • LSU (7-1)
  • Georgia (7-1)
  • Florida (7-1)
  • South Carolina (7-2)
  • Florida State (8-1)
  • Louisville (8-0)

I can see any of the top four in the title game. The November stretch should whittle it down to about three. I say don't count out N.D.  Alabama-Notre Dame would be a huge ratings (money) game.

  • LSU (7-1)
  • Georgia (7-1)
  • Florida (7-1)
  • South Carolina (7-2)
  • Florida State (8-1)
  • Louisville (8-0)

I can see any of the top four in the title game. The November stretch should whittle it down to about three. I say don't count out N.D.  Alabama-Notre Dame would be a huge ratings (money) game.

To be completely honest, I can see ANY of the top 10 in the BCS title game with the exception of maybe South Carolina, but with some unbelievably incredible luck, even they could still make it. Florida and Georgia both would have to fall on their faces for the last several games. Florida still has the in-state rivalry game on the 24th against FSU, so they could collect another loss there. Georgia still has Ole Miss, Auburn, and Georgia Tech to play, and I don't expect them to lose any of those, but with the way Aaron Murray was throwing easy picks last week against Florida, it's entirely possible that either Ole Miss or Georgia Tech could capitalize on turnovers and poor run defense and hand them another loss.

Alabama is playing LSU this weekend. If LSU manages to put the brakes on Alabama and beat them, they'd both be one loss teams and LSU would hold the tie-breaker in the SEC West with that victory allowing them to return to the SEC Championship game to face either Georgia or Florida... or South Carolina if Georgia and Florida start losing.

Oregon still has to play USC this weekend, Stanford on the 17th, and Oregon State on the 24th. Any one or all three of those could be tough games for Oregon. Kansas State has Oklahoma State, TCU, Baylor, and Texas in the next 4 weekends. But unless Oklahoma State or Texas has a super good day, I don't see Kansas State losing to them. They've kicked the living shit out of their opponents usually scoring 50+ points a game with the exception of OU and Iowa State which were closer games. Notre Dame has to wrap their regular season up playing USC on the 24th, so they could still become a 1 loss team with that one.

Like I already mentioned, Florida State still has Florida to play. If Florida doesn't lose any more until that game, FSU upseting them (along with a few other top 10 teams losing) could boost them into contention. COULD. It's astronomically unlikely, but still possible at this point.

Louisville is still undefeated, and in all likelihood they will remain so until the end of the regular season. I'm not too sure, but judging from the strength of their schedule and the fact that they haven't faced a ranked opponent all season, even if all 4 of the current top 4 undefeateds suffer one loss, I still don't see that Louisville would earn the right to contend for the BCS title. The only decent teams they've faced all year were Kentucky and North Carolina, and even those two aren't particularly impressive this year.

yep, i'd put the theoretical top 4 in the ACC all over Louisville: fsu, clemson, unc, and ncstate..... Lville beat us by a few without gio bernard who is the front runner for acc player of the year... not to mention there was no call on the play which would/could have been the winning TD pass:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPkzPe1csb0

It happens at about :35 or so, it could easily be called a pass interference not to mention his helmet was ripped off... but I can't bash on the questionable call too much though, much more at fault was the fact that we didn't run the ball at all 1st and goal.. especially on those first two downs.

So yeah, Louisville ain't shit and shouldn't be ranked. If you have to rely on home adv/ref adv to beat UNC without their star player who may play a larger role on a football team than ANY person in the NCAA, then chances are you ain't good. It's like a school as good as va tech or ga tech this season in both the worst and smallest conference. I think lville and rutgers are the top 2 teams from big east?.....and they were both beat by both unc and ncstate last season.

If K-state keeps winning it may be enough to snag a heisman but perhaps not the championship game.. It would have to be Kstate and bama as the only two undefeated teams though, imo. Because if Oregon was still undefeated, they'd be more deserving and notre dame could get priority due to promotional/money factors like krill said.

We'll have to let the bottom top 5 play out to get a better feel of their chances... Although, LSU is obviously has more of an opportunity to make a statement than the other 7-1 teams.

oh.. and since I made that claim about gio bernard playing a bigger role than his team possibly than anyone in the NCAA, here is a biased article which supports my views with this(aside from mentioning the word heisman, which is typically for undefeated or 1 loss teams I believe) ;)

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1387308-unc-football-dear-heisman-voters-giovani-bernard-does-exist

he's a sophmore, and rapes.

just noticed this..

<@haunted__> oh dang
<@haunted__> gio bernard actually made the heisman watch list
<@haunted__> after this weekend
<@haunted__> http://espn.go.com/college-football/heisman/index
<@haunted__> didn't think it would happen, thought he'd just be a deserving guy that wouldn't crack the list being that unc has 3 losses
<@haunted__> but he really is that good, glad he's getting a little recognition

Sorry your Tigers couldn't knock off Alabama, adren. Not being a smart-ass either. For once, I was rooting against Bama when LSU was playing them. I was kinda hoping to see another LSU vs UGA SEC Championship game. I think it would've been a more interesting game than UGA vs Alabama. I don't think UGA will fair too well against Alabama. UGA was looking like total shit against Ole Miss in the first half of the game this weekend, but for some strange reason they decided to actually start playing worth a shit again in the second half and ended up buttfucking Ole Miss the rest of the way to a 37-10 final score.

Ole Miss beating GA was my only hope  :raincloud:.   There is no way Auburn will beat GA.

FL won ugly again, they are 8-1 now and have 2 cupcakes coming up, so they should be 10-1 when they play FL St.
The way the offense has been playing, wins in the next two games are not definite.
Even if they win out and go 11-1, they won't even have an SEC East title :raincloud:
On the bright side, they have already exceeded what I thought they would do, I said they would be lucky to go 7-6.

Yep, they exceeded my expectations this year too. I thought they would be nothing but lucky to win 6 games.

I was kinda hoping Pittsburgh would finish off the upset of Notre Dame last night, but their kicker hooked the field goal a little to the right when they could've ended it in 2OT.

;D

Swami Focalor predicts...

... The Atlanta Falcons will not win the Superbowl this year. ... I think either New Orleans or Carolina will take the NFC South. Unless Matt Ryan can get his O-line to cover him better, he won't have the time he needs to find Roddy White or Julio Jones, and RB Michael Turner will be NO help in the running game, so Atlanta is dead before the season starts as far as I can see.

Jesus. How wrong was I? Wrong enough that as week 10 begins after tonights Monday night game, Atlanta will be the one and only undefeated team in the NFL. Holy shit. What planet am I on!?! This is still Earth, right? :WTF: Shit looked pretty bleak in preseason, but perhaps all concern for preseason demonstration of talent was wisely disregarded for a reason. They seem to have gotten a little better on defense from last year, and have DEFINITELY taken the more aggressive approach to offense by passing a little more and mixing up the play calling with some clever trickery on occasion. After last nights game against Dallas, you can definitely see how important OLB Sean Weatherspoon is to the defense. Atlanta wasn't really able to generate as good of a pass rush on the right side of the line without him. I saw many times that John Abraham on the left side was closing up that side of the pocket nice and quick, but the right side was struggling more.

I was holding my fucking breath that one time that Demarcus Ware clobbered the living shit out of Matt Ryan from behind. Ryan never even saw it coming. I was honestly shocked that he was able to get back up and take the next snap, I figured he'd need a couple of minutes to let the tweety birds circling his head dissipate. :D

Wasn't a pretty win, wasn't really an impressive win, but who gives a shit. Doesn't matter how you win, just as long as you DO win.

Saw plenty of people on the NBC online chat asking the experts if Dallas should consider replacing Tony Romo. And as much as I don't like the Cowboys, I gotta say that any Dallas fans who are pissed at Romo need to open their fucking eyes and WATCH the games. I personally think Tony Romo is a decent QB, and he's doing a decent job this year. It's the rest of the team that isn't performing. Receivers aren't making catches, they're making too many stupid mistakes on defense and not stopping their opponents, and the coaches aren't being aggressive enough with the plays when it's appropriate to do so. If Dallas fans wanna scream for anyone to be replaced, it needs to be head coach Jason Garrett. Honestly, they were better off with Wade Philips... but owner Jerry Jones is a fuckin' idiot, what do you expect.

Atlanta is riding the wave. They have ball hawks (err falcons). Not sure if this is their year to win it all, but they are doing what it takes - up to this point.

I despise the cowGirls, but it ain't all Romo. Looks like he's trying to compensate for the rest of his teams weaknesses, front office flubbing, etc. And PLEASE don't wear your hat backward.....you look goofy.

My prediction of at most a 4 win season for the Saints looks on target.     :rocketleft:

Romo. ...And PLEASE don't wear your hat backward.....you look goofy.

Hahaha! I was literally saying the same thing when I saw Sunday nights broadcast and they threw up the graphic of him. He looks like a total douche with his hat backwards. For christs sake, the dude was dating Jessica Simpson for a while. Anyone who'd fuck with that bimbo is a complete dork. :D

Atlanta is riding the wave. They have ball hawks (err falcons).

Yeah, at the beginning of the season, I was wondering what the hell they were using for a brain when they signed Asante Samuel to play corner for the injured Brent Grimes. He's traditionally been nothing but a pain in the ass for coaches due to his behavior, which is why New England and Philly were willing to part with him. He's made a few displays this year that have left me shaking my head, but luckily it's been nothing too embarrassing, and he seems to be at least TRYING to remain somewhat professional. I think the atmosphere in Atlanta has helped him to chill out. Mike Smith and the rest of the coaches definitely don't put up with any bullshit. I suppose having guys like Roddy White around has been good for him. White's competitive and somewhat boisterous, but he remains very professional about it the majority of the time. I dunno if you remember him, but a couple seasons ago, Atlanta had a really good right guard by the name of Harvey Dahl. Dahl was a notorious prick on the field, and would constantly mouth off to everyone, opponents, teammates, coaches, etc. After a few seasons of his bullshit, Atlanta finally let him go. Not a lot was said about it publicly, but I gotta assume that Mike Smith and Thomas Dimitrov finally got sick of his shit and opted to let him go rather than keeping him and allowing his shitty attitude to infect the rest of the roster.

Samuel also seems to be playing his position like the old Asante Samuel that played for the Patriots years ago. So I really have no complaints about him. In fact, I kinda hope they keep him after this season. The dilemma is what to do about Brent Grimes once he comes off injured reserve next season. I certainly wouldn't want to bench Dunta Robinson on the other side to let Grimes have that spot. Grimes is a pretty short dude to be playing corner against really tall wide receivers, but his stature is very deceiving because he can leap pretty damn high to pick or defend passes.

The Bucs are looking better, at 4-4 they won't catch Atlanta, if they can go 6-2 in the second half they might make the playoffs.
They have played good enough to win in all of their games.  Their loses have all been by a TD or less.
They have a good running back in Martin, he reminds me of a Jones-Drew type back, 5'-9" and 215 lbs.
I hope he can stay healthy, because he opens up the rest of the offense because of his running.

The playoffs are a longshot but a guy has to dream

The playoffs are a longshot but a guy has to dream

MLK had a dream too.

Sorry, didn't think there were enough tasteless, rude and offensive jokes in this thread.

The Bucs are looking better, at 4-4 they won't catch Atlanta, if they can go 6-2 in the second half they might make the playoffs.

I don't know what to make of the Bucs.  The Saints beat them, which is bad, but they looked like they could beat anybody the night they kicked the Vikings butts.

Well, today we get the dirty birds in the dome.  I have no idea what to expect.  If anybody gets blown out, it will be the Saints because THEY CAN"T STOP ANYBODY!  This game is usually down to the last possession and I've seen some crazy endings, but this year it's not looking good for the Saints.  Now if they use some common sense and RUN THE FRIGGIN BALL with Thomas and Ivory rather than pass it 50 times, they may have a chance.  Seems like they get a couple scores behind and completely quit running the ball.  Sure would be sweet to send Atlanta home with their first loss......

Yeah yeah yeah. I know what to expect. Let the Falcon bashing begin. Enjoy it. Saints got lucky that Roddy White on that next to last pass didn't get turned around in time to run under that pass, he had a good 4 or 5 steps on the two defenders who let him get over the top of them. I also thought it was rather retarded of the refs to call a penalty on Asante Samuel's interception. I didn't see him doing anything that anyone else wouldn't normally get away with after the play.

I do gotta give New Orleans credit for their runningback Chris Ivory. Dude made Mark Ingram look like a pussy today. Enjoy him while he lasts though. Probably won't be too much longer before he gets hurt pretty bad running the way he does. He viciously pursues extra yards and accepts more hits than he needs to. While that may be how runningbacks become stars and legends, it also all too often gets them hurt sooner or later and ends their careers earlier.

At least my Dawgs finally got to thoroughly stomp someone this year. Auburn didn't get a single fucking point. Finally some half-decent defense out of the kids. Although with Alabama losing yesterday, I'm afraid the BCS title ain't staying in the SEC this year. Unless Kansas St, Oregon, and Notre Dame all lose one in the next 2 games, then it's pretty much impossible for either Alabama or Georgia to earn a spot in the title game. Although this certainly will make the SEC Championship game a little more interesting with Georgia having evidence that Alabama isn't as impervious as many may have thought (myself included).
