Also wanna say... glad Michael Vick is playing like the same old shitty Michael Vick he was when he played in Atlanta. Finally people are starting to see just how unimpressive he really is, and just how unimpressive everyone in Atlanta always knew he was. When he came back after the dogfighting bullshit, all the sports press people were just swinging from his nuts and talking about him like he was some kinda super-great legendary quarterback. The dude ain't SHIT and honestly Philadelphia was probably just as good with Donovan McNabb. Sure, McNabb was past his prime and couldn't really hack it in the NFL anymore... but neither can Vick. He's a glassjaw mediocre little nobody whose only real exceptional talent is his running speed. No better than Tim fuckin Tebow in my opinion. And actually I think Tim Tebow is BETTER, because at least Tebow is tough enough to take hits like a real football player.

The Falcons are looking good.  Alot of the commentators are talking up the Falcons also.

The Tampa Bay yucks played another game that made me want to switch the channel to "Little House on the Praire"
Tampa's gameplan all day, run for 2 or 3 yards on first and second down and them throw an incomplete pass on third.  :dohdohdoh:
Tampa had 96 yards of total offense until their last drive of the game when they finally decided this running into the line ain't working.

The Saints suck.  6-10 looks optimistic.  They may actually win a game....or two.  Let's just get it out there - 2012 Saints record = 2-14.  Who Dat? Everybody.  :grrrr:

I never really thought it would be a big deal if you had replacement referees, man was I wrong.
I still don't understand how there could be such a big difference, but there seems to be.
I'm sure the media scrutiny is making even minor mistakes front page news, but the regular refs definitely did a better job.

I saw several total fuck-up calls with the Saints game on Sunday. A receiver caught a pass right on the 1 yard line, and a sideline ref is RIGHT THERE in front of the play looking straight down at his feet, he gets one foot in and one foot out, and he STILL didn't bother speaking up to say it was an incompletion, they had to waste 10 minutes reviewing it. And a few plays before that, the receiver on the other team slipped and hurt his arm, lets go of the ball before anyone touches him down, so it SHOULD have been ruled a fumble. One of the Saints picks up the ball and starts running for the endzone, but... because the damn refs blew the whistle (AT THE WRONG TIME!), they had to go to review and they ended up giving New Orleans the ball at the spot where he picked it up. THAT one was a TOTAL clusterfuck and I can't believe it didn't make major news.

Last night was pretty much more of the same clusterfuckedness from what I saw.

packers got raped by refs, LOL!

I didn't watch the first half of the game, but I did see one particular horrible call where they penalized Seattle for defensive pass interference when it was clearly a completely legal play, no interference WHATSOEVER. I hope the league finally comes to their senses and get this shit worked out. The sooner the better. This shit just gets worse every week.

Totally correct analysis. I'm a biased observer, but that fumble/return would have had the dome rocking. The Saint's are a team without enough "want to". Drew Brees CAN'T be the QB and the coach. The sad part is that there are talented players on this team; most of them, especially on defense, either ride the pine or are inactive.

Bogus call which could mean much at the end of the season. The replacement (scabs in union terms) refs are uhhhhhh   :offtopic:  Every game, even with the "best" officials, calls are made that fans know are wrong.  ;D If the players don't like what they have, let them all give 1% of their salaries to the "officials" fund. In the meantime, owners will be taking some heat from the fans. Prediction: this labor dispute will be over in two weeks, max. Unless Vega$ likes it the way it is.....   :smiley_abin:

Yeah, I actually fell asleep before the end of the game. I didn't see anything about the final play of the game until towards noon today when I was reading a few headlines on yahoo and then finally turned on SportsCenter while I was in the kitchen making some lunch. TOTAL bullshit call. Even after reviewing it, they still call it a TD for Seattle. And even though it was a completely cornholed call, I still think the league did the right thing by letting it stand later even after the backlash. If they were gonna change anything, it should've been done AT the game, not later. Changing the outcome later would've just set a precedent for more outcomes of games to be overturned after the fact. Bad call, it happens in sports sometimes, just gotta live with it.

Probably not the worst call I've ever seen in sports history though. I still remember that Atlanta Braves game against the Pittsburgh Pirates last year that went into extra innings with a complete stalemate for a total of... I wanna say maybe 17 or 18 innings? It was about a 8 or 9 hour baseball game. And on one play, the Pirates clearly tagged the runner out at home plate for a 3rd out in the top of the last inning, but I guess the home plate ump was so frustrated that the game kept going on and on and on that he decided to call him safe anyway. :D I think I fell asleep during the 7th inning and woke up a few hours later that night, looked up, and saw a Braves game still on the TV. I figured it was the replay of the game since they always replay the game right after the post-game show ends... but then I look at the scoreboard in the corner and it said 13th inning and I started watching it again for another 3 or 4 hours, lol. Game started at like 7:30pm and didn't go off until after 4am. Crazy shit. And it looked like most of everyone stayed in their seats all night long to watch the whole thing, haha! They got their ticket price worth of baseball that night for sure.

Looks like we're finally gonna have some qualified refs back in the NFL by this weekend.

http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shutdown-corner/several-reports-indicate-deal-between-nfl-officials-imminent-023915580--nfl.html

And I sincerely hope that Green Bay comes exactly 1 win short of making the playoffs this year. :D

Went to the Georgia game tonight. We did end up beating Tennessee, and winning is always good, but the overall performance doesn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling with an opponent like South Carolina coming up next Saturday. Georgia had Bacarri Rambo back from suspension which allowed Malcolm Mitchell to switch back to offense (he was playing corner for the suspended Rambo until tonight), but I'm not sure it was much of a boost on either side of the ball. Georgia played the first quarter great. But after that, it was just mistake after mistake and their defense played like the lazy bastards they were last year. Honestly, they were pretty lucky that Tennessee happened to make perhaps a few more mistakes than they did, or at least mistakes in the form of dropped long passes at key moments. Had Tennessee played flawless football, Georgia would be looking a disappointing loss tonight. I was thinking Georgia could quite possibly go undefeated all regular season long, but if they keep playing sloppy football the way they did today, it ain't gonna happen. I was looking forward to seeing Georgia get a shot at Alabama or perhaps LSU again at the SEC Championship game, but they're gonna have to buckle down and get more aggressive with their defense if they're gonna have a shot at beating Alabama. Several times they were in short yardage 3rd downs and allowed HUGE empty zones in the flats for easy conversions with passes to one of the backs who was unaccounted for.

But all in all, I guess it was more exciting to watch than just a total beatdown like they did to Vanderbilt last week. Got my ticket price worth.

I hope LSU plays next week like they played today.  I think LSU is a really good team, maybe they just play to the level of their opponent.

HOLY
SHIT!

:ubershock: :ubershock: :ubershock: :ubershock: :ubershock: :ubershock:

I just saw the greatest ending to a football game ever in the history of the NFL.

Atlanta's down 27 to 28 against Carolina. One minute left in the 4th quarter, NO timeouts, balls on Atlanta's ONE YARD LINE. The odds don't get no worse than that! Matt Ryan throws a 50 or 60 yard BOMB to Roddy White from his own endzone. Then another pass to Harry Douglas, and he jumps out of bounds. Then a pass to Julio Jones that gets a pass interference call. Then another pass to Tony Gonzalez. With 11 seconds left, kicker Matt Bryant nails a 40 yarder through the uprights. 5 seconds left, and John Abraham sacks Cam Newton to end the game. Final score: 30 to 28, Atlanta wins.

I got a feeling about this year. Every couple of years, one team just seems to have that magical season. 3 years ago, it was the Saints playing fucking amazing. Then the next year it was Green Bay coming back to win every game at the end of the season and sweep the playoffs from a wildcard spot. This might finally be Atlanta's year. ;)
