It'd cost you $900-1000 USD/month for a 1 bedroom 700sqft place where I live in socal, and that's not exactly for the nicer ones. Add in the pretty much mandatory 100 bucks a month in electricity to cool the place and you're up to 1000-1100. $:-\$

300 more sq ft and no french speaking people within a 40 mile radius FTW

Yeah, that is pretty high, but then again, (from what little I know about it) Vancouver ain't a bad place to live either. It's always gonna cost more to live in a larger city unless it's one of those shithole 2 story section 8 ghetto slums where your neighbors themselves will break into your apartment when you're gone or steal your car or rob you at gunpoint. There used to plenty of those in Atlanta, and there still are, but on the north side of Atlanta in the Buckhead area they've done away with a lot of those old places to put up some more expensive condos and loft apartments. I dunno what it's like in other states, but in most places here in Georgia, you'll have to pay 600 to 800 a month or more if you want to live in one of the nicer and safer apartment complexes. But even if I had more than enough money to cover a 2000/month condo and a job in downtown Atlanta that would make living in one a necessity, I still couldn't bring myself to do it, even if the condo was right next door to my office. Rent is for suckers, in my humble opinion. Why should a working stiff hand over such a large of his income to pay to live someplace when he could pay that same amount for a nice house that he OWNS and build up equity and have something to show for all that money spent on a place to live when it comes time to move? But then again... these days the way the housing market is going, some people have had their "investment" in the form of their house turn to dust right underneath them. You buy a house, you pay on it for 5 or 10 years, never miss a payment, get the interest portion of the loan taken care of and think you can start paying the house itself off now, all the while knowing that the house is already gonna be worth more than you paid for it... and then the economy shits its guts out, your house value drops so much, and overnight you're fucking upside down in the son of a bitch. Hooray for the American dream.

I got a job when I was 13 so I could have money to buy myself a vehicle when the time came and to help my mom with the bills, even though my step-dad still lived with us at the time and he made an ass-ton of money and my mom was making around 60k herself so they def didn't need my help at all, but that doesn't matter as they've done plenty for me and I felt like I had to do something and pitch in to make me feel like I wasn't a moocher heh. But I'm sure you have the attitude of "my mom has it covered and I'm still in HS so I don't need to pitch in at all since I need to focus on schooling, and not get a job. You're pathetic and fall right in with lazy youth of today that don't want to work for anything.
