And today it all begins...

May all your teams have success, as long as they don't beat my team!

Fuck yeah. Vikings and Saints tonight. I know it's a horrible thing to say about someone who's just playing a sport, but I hope Brett Favre gets very very injured early this season with no hope of recovery before the season ends. I used to like him. I watched part of the press conference as it happened live on the NFL channel when he announced he was coming back with Vikings for one more season (...again). I swear to fucking christ, they ask him one little question and he would take 30 god damn minutes going on and on and on and on about stupid bullshit and would NEVER EVEN ANSWER THE FUCKING QUESTION! He's a pompous selfish fucking prick. Fuck that guy.

I got 20 on the Saints. I say they'll make it to the playoffs again. I don't know about going all the way for a 2nd Superbowl win, but I'm pretty sure they'll win the NFC South title again.

You might want to re-think that, remember the Bucs are in that division  :dohdohdoh:  :frustration:

They don't have a chance. However the Falcons might give them some competition. The 2 games they played against the Saints last year were pretty close ones, even with all the injuries and substitutions Atlanta had. It would be nice to see my team win a Superbowl at least once in my life, but I won't get my hopes up. If the Falcons win it all this year, I promise to donate 1,000 dollars to Tastyspleen.

Good to see the players taking a stand against this bullshit Collective Bargaining Agreement the league heads are pushing for. On one hand, I wouldn't really mind a shorter pre-season and longer regular season. But what really sucks is that such a thing would screw up player stats and records. Suddenly 2000+ rushing yards in a single season doesn't mean as much. I know that NFL has been huge for a long time, but I'd hate to see it go the way that NASCAR has in the past 10 or 15 years. I'm not so sure they are pushing for this because "it's what the fans want", like they claim. Maybe some of them do. But I don't think they've explained that it will help to bury some of the long-held records by their favorite players of the past.

I don't see the Vikings making it as far as they did last year if they play like they did last night. New Orleans wasn't blitzing Favre anywhere near as vicious as they were a year ago, and they still couldn't make plays when they had the time. Granted the Saints did drop more defenders back in coverage which would obviously make it tougher to complete passes. I think Favre is done. Too old and worn out. He should've hung it up last year. All he's gonna do is embarrass himself now.

Go Falcons  :bananaw00t:

Notsomuch. Someone cursed our state. UGA lost, Georgia Tech lost, Falcons lost.

It's Beer:30.  :hang:

Detroits looks like they might be fucking dead in the water... again. Figures. First game of the season and Matt Stafford's probably not coming back after his shoulder injury. I was so looking forward to hoping to dream about hoping to see a game on Thanksgiving Day for ONCE IN MY LIFE that wasn't the business-as-usual "Annual Turkey Day Buttrape of the Detroit Lions". :ohreally:

I assumed the Bengals would lose, but shit not that bad.  It was like they didn't start playing till 2nd half and they were down by 21 already.  I was sooo hoping to see them finally beat the Patriots...blah

Not all is lost though, rather enjoyed watching the Cowboy's lose, with Tony Romohomo looking sad.

Especially against a team like Washington. What the FUCK were the Eagles thinking getting rid of Donovan McNabb? Maybe they weren't winning Superbowls, but they did have a good QB in him, MUCH better than this Kolb guy. I know the league heads probably don't want Michael Vick having a starting QB position and salary at this point, but he's a WAY better choice. I think Sundays game is evidence enough. He's not some amazingly accurate passer like a Drew Brees or a Payton Manning, but he is obviously better at reading defenses and feeling the rush. I don't like him for what he did anymore than the next guy, but at this point, all I think is: Well, they let him back in already, might as well let him play. If he fails, they'll give the job to someone else. If not, then the Eagles get a decent QB. I still don't think any other team would have the balls to touch him if the Eagles cut him loose.

Being a Mississippi resident, I have witnessed the Brett Farve story from his USM college days through the present. I remember him having a car wreck and having major abdominal surgery a few weeks prior to leading the Golden Eagles to a big upset of Alabama (?).  He was and still is one tough cookie.  But Focolar has summarized my (and many fans, I suspect) opinion of how he has handled his golden years. It's unfortunate that he will continue to stain his well earned legacy by craving one more dance in the limelight.  Easy for me to judge, I guess. I've never been there. But PLEASE next year just say "thanks for the memories" and start a new career.

The Buc's are up and coming.  I like their young quarterback and they play good defense.  Coaching is still a question mark.
Atlanta should at least compete for the division. They have talent, but I'm not sure if they have solved their problem of lack of depth.
Carolina looked BBBAAAADDD - and not in a good way.  I don't see them making any major noise at this point, although I predict they will beat the Saints again this year.
The Saints need even more luck than they had last year to make the Super Bowl. The offense is deep and one of the best. The special teams are nothing to brag about at this point and that can cost you 2-4 games a year if you're weak. The defense looks really good and could be the story of this season, especially if they can limit other good teams like the Viqueens to single digits. Injuries happen to all teams and that factor alone can make or break your record. I would like to add that Focolar would make an excellent NFL analyst.  :headbang:

Fuck yeah. Fire that annoying Troy Aikman douchebag and hire me. :headbang:

I dunno if Atlanta is going to do worth a crap this year. It's hard to tell from just one game, but if they don't find a way to get RB's Michael Turner or Jerious Norwood some running room, they're gonna continue getting beat. They played pretty crappy against the Steelers last Sunday, and the Steelers aren't nearly as good as they were 2 years ago. If it weren't for Paulomalu catching that 4th quarter interception when he did, I think that game would've ended much differently. I couldn't believe that Matt Ryan actually elected to throw in that direction. I was sitting there watching it almost like it was in slow motion. I see him looking in that direction whilst Troy Paulomalu is watching Ryan the whole time and making a cut towards the receiver he's staring down. The ball leaves his hand and I'm like, "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo."

I just don't understand these quarterbacks sometimes. They can throw a large ball like a football for a distance of 50 or 60 yards and hit a wide receiver in the hands over his inside shoulder in mid-stride who is running as fast as he can. This makes them have to look up the field past the person and throw the ball to that spot in order for them both to meet perfectly at the same time. They sometimes have an almost psychic Spiderman-like ability to feel when defenders are closing in behind them as they dance and go through their progression in the pocket. They can take a high-low hit by 2 guys who have a combined weight of 650 pounds.... and then other times, they do retarded newbie shit like Matt Ryan did with that boneheaded interception. :ohlord:

I'd like to see the University of Alabama play one game against a top ranked NFL team. Holy shit, anybody see the epic rape they dealt to Duke today? They had 4 touchdowns in the 1st quarter... with still 5 minutes left in the quarter! If they hadn't taken half their offense out by the 2nd half, I think they probably could've scored 100 points.  :dohdohdoh:

Put your money on Alabama this year.

Just saw the browns lose in person last sunday!

Was my first time seeing a football game at a stadium.
Awesome time, even if they did lose.
