AND THEN THERE WERE TWO!

Atlanta and New England, both at 10 and 2, and Atlanta with the 3 and zero divisional record makes them #1 in the NFL overall. It's a good year to be a Falcons fan!  ;D I TOLD YOU ATLANTA! HAVE FAITH! This is OUR YEAR!
I can feel it. It's COMING!

RISE UP!

They are looking really good this year, this might be their year.
The Bucs are my team, but if they can't win it, I definitely would like to see the Falcons win it.

Hopefully Atlanta can sure up home field advantage before long. At this point, they're still in control of that destiny unless New Orleans loses next week. At this point, I think either New Orleans or Philadelphia or maybe just maybe Chicago could steal that away from them before the end of the season, most likely New Orleans. I think they should have Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush back for next weeks game against Baltimore. Bottom line is that Atlanta HAS to beat New Orleans again on the 27th. If they can manage to do it and clench home-field advantage in the playoffs and a 1st week bye, I'm pretty confident they'll be able to beat anyone that faces them and make it to the Superbowl. I don't think they'd be able to beat The Patriots in the Superbowl though, who I expect to represent the AFC. I've been watching the Falcons defense all year and they seem to mainly play zone defense rather than man to man coverage. Tom Brady seems to LOVE teams that play zone defense because he and his receivers can always find holes in the coverage no matter what look they give before the snap.

This has actually been a pretty crazy year. There's 3 games left in the season and so far only one team has clenched a playoff berth. In years past, there's been a larger difference in the standings between the records of the teams. It makes for an interesting spectator experience because you never know what the outcome of ANY game will likely be.

I saw a graphic during the Saints/Rams game that stated how few teams in history have won 3 away games in a row in the NFL (they were showing it because the Rams had won 2 in a row) and I was amazed at how rare it happens.  Therefore, based on obscure statistics and nothing more, I boldly predict Seattle will defeat the Falcons this Sunday! Take all your money and bet it on Seattle Focalor! I don't know the odds, but you could make a mint.   :bananaw00t:

That said, I don't expect the Saints to win at Baltimore either. :P

Krillypoo, I have 200 riding on the Falcons over the Seahawks this afternoon just to spite you. I may even up it a hundred or two more by kickoff if I can get cleared for it. :peace:

  I guess a Falcons beat down of the Saints is next?  If the Saints can't tackle any better than they did yesterday, it's going to be a butt wuppin'.

O, and I'm glad you didn't take my advice.

Oh I made out like a bandit on that game. I've been watching the Seahawks pretty closely this year mainly because of their new coach. In my opinion, Pete Carroll just ain't cut out to be an NFL head coach. But he could always be a cheerleader. His locker room pep talks sound like a little league coach talking to a bunch of kids. He paces up and down the sidelines like he's wired outta his mind on Starbucks and meth.

I have tickets to next Monday nights game vs New Orleans. I'm a little worried about this one though. The Saints aren't playing very consistent this year. Their rushing game ain't so dangerous, it's Drew Brees accuracy combined with the Falcons recent penchant for nothing but zone defense that's the most dangerous part of the game. Atlanta's defenders really aren't clamping down on receivers as well as they could when they enter their zones, and any veteran QB can probably anticipate which defender is going to follow who. I'm not necessarily worried about Atlanta's ability to score points or control the clock as much as I'm worried about the defenses ability to contain the New Orleans offense properly. Last nights Patriots vs Packers game is a good demonstration of how clock control doesn't always spell success. New England had possession of the ball maybe 35% to 40% of the time, but they were able to MOVE the ball effectively and quickly for larger chunks of yardage. If you've watched Atlanta play this year, they haven't been tons of HUGE plays, but mostly shorter passes underneath for short gains as a strategy to chew up the clock. Yeah, usually it works. But... not always. Michael Turner hasn't been able to run like a dumptruck with no brakes like he did last year. He's averaging probably 3yds per carry. He might be able to get a little more if he'd run around the ends. It drives me up the fucking wall, it seems like he's drawing it straight up the middle 90% of the time.

I think all we need at this point is one more win to clench home-field advantage. If we can't beat New Orleans next Monday, I have no doubt that we can beat Carolina again. Hopefully it won't come to that. I'm hoping we can put New Orleans away one more time and rest some of the starters for the Carolina game. I think we could probably still handle Carolina easily with our backups.

I wish I was Roddy White. He makes almost TWICE what Matt Ryan does in a year. He makes 3 times as much as Tony Gonzalez per year. And he makes 12 times what Michael Turner does per year. That's one highly compensated motherfucker. Yeah, his ass BETTER be catching every fucking pass for what they're paying him.

Favre: THE END.

http://nfl.cpa.delvenetworks.com/delve/player/carousel/embed_code.html?channelId=de89a8aeb3e422bac4eb48567f10ebd0&mediaId=37417ecad321418abb1923d1b9b31e02

So is your favorite player T.O., at least for this season. The word around the pile is - Ocho and TO will be gone next season.  We hear this about Ocho every year, but I am thinking it is true this time.  They are starting to use the back up WRs more and more lately.  All in all, it was a horrid year to be a Bengals fan, when coming off a decent previous season.

Time to join the Falcon's wagon.

Seems to me like Chad Ochocinco's production has been dropping off since the first year he decided to change his name. Like I've said all along, I think a lot of it has to do with his preoccupation in his retarded TV show. It would be interesting to find out how much money he makes per year with that show. He's making $4,750,000 a year as a WR with Cincinnati. Like I said a couple of posts back, Falcons WR Roddy White is making an outstanding 12 million dollars a year, so maybe he's looking around the league and seeing how much other people are making and deciding to run routes a little slower than he could until he feels like he's compensated properly. That's really the WORST thing you can do in the NFL. They don't pay people based reputation very long. Look at Randy Moss. He's had one of the most outstanding careers in the NFL, but he isn't making nearly as much anymore as he was with the Patriots when he was a major part of their Superbowl contender offense. If you want to make the big bucks, you have to yield positive results as well as have a positive attitude. That's PRECISELY WHY Roddy White makes 4, 10, 12, and even 24 times more than any other Falcon. He runs routes as hard and effectively as he can, he rarely drops passes, he does everything he can to break tackles and gain yards after catches, he blocks properly when it's called for, he doesn't give the coaches and his other teammates a hard time, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, he's a TEAM PLAYER not concerned one single bit with personal fame and stats. He doesn't get upset if Matt Ryan doesn't throw the ball his way when it's not beneficial to do so. A big part of the offensive strategy is for White to make the defense fear his abilities as a receiver which draws attention and coverage away from other receivers. Owners, GM's, and coaches LOVE that, and they are always willing to pay more than usual for such a thing.

Carson Palmer isn't as productive and accurate as he used to be either. Maybe his time is coming to an end, I don't know. I personally think the state of Ohio's best hope a future NFL contender team is the Browns. They've REALLY impressed me this year, especially with their new runningback Peyton Hillis. I don't even think the word "Monster" begins to accurately describe this guy. I swear to christ, he's the biggest and most powerful motherfucker I've seen at the runningback position in quite a while. He's definitely the kinda guy the coaches and GM can get excited about having and can build a deadly offense around. I would expect to see Colt McCoy at the starting QB position if not by next year, then the following one. He looks like he's been working out pretty hard to beef up his frame a lot more since last year. If Cleveland can make some smart trades and drafts in the next two years, they might just be able to create the next NFL dynasty and year-after-year Superbowl heavyweight contender.

Maybe I'm wrong though. I kinda said the same thing about Detroit at the beginning of this season, but it doesn't look like that will likely happen if they keep Matt Stafford aboard. He's a UGA boy and a terrific QB, and I love him for that alone, but it's looking like he's just too damned injury prone to make it worth keeping him around if they'd like to have a solid playoff ready team. Maybe it's the O-line's fault for not protecting him well enough, but let's face it, this is the NF-fuckin'-L. Sacks are GOING to happen and a QB has to be able to bounce up afterwards. Matt Ryan looks like a frail little twig compared to a lot of the QB's, and granted he works with a pretty good O-line, but he has better pocket awareness and sack resiliency than Matt Stafford probably ever will. I have to kinda blame their coaching staff for the O-line's shortcomings too. One thing Atlanta does a really really good job of is watching their players and making sure they aren't left out on the field when they are completely gassed. They do a good job of making substitutions to every position when it's necessary to keep everyone fresh and as healthy as possible. I don't see any other team in the entire NFL making the number of substitutions that Atlanta does.

"The grace of god gave them tht championship so tht city wouldn fall apart now and now they think they hot (obscenity)."   :ubershock:

Heh, football. Rivalries. Trash talking. That's a part of the fun I guess. What you say off the field about your opponents can sometimes be taken out of context and used against you. They call it bulletin board material. Somebody give Roddy's phone back! We need more material!

I just wish I could bring back an old safety from the Saints past to play this game. Tommy Myers would knock the tweet out of this trash talking twerp. Then walk back to the huddle.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
