Politics and football. What... the... fuck. :ohlord:

Quote from: Yahoo! Sports - March 3, 2011
The NFL and the NFL Players Association agreed to a 24-hour extension of the deadline to reach a new deal on the collective bargaining agreement on Thursday evening.

NFLPA executive committee member Jeff Saturday(notes) confirmed the extension as he left the meeting shortly after 5 p.m. ET. The league and the union have until Friday at 11:59 p.m. to reach a new CBA deal. League and union representatives met throughout the day at the office of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services.

Prior to reaching a deal to extend the CBA talks, the union was set to file decertification paperwork in federal court. In addition, the union was expected to seek an injunction to prevent a possible lockout by the owners and file a class-action lawsuit against the NFL. Quarterbacks Drew Brees(notes), Peyton Manning(notes) and Tom Brady(notes) would be named as plaintiffs in a class-action lawsuit, a sign of extreme union strength at this point.

Thank fucking Jesus that NCAA doesn't have to deal with unions and shit like this. Still, I'd rather watch NFL football than college football. If there's no NFL next year, I'm gonna be PISSED.

This really really REALLY fucking sucks. I used to be pretty big into NASCAR years ago up until around the time Dale Earnhardt died and they quit calling the Winston Cup. Even then, ticket prices for decent seats at a race were pretty steep, but after that they started adding tons of seating to a lot of the tracks and ticket prices continued to climb higher and higher. And now look at them, they're losing fans because of all of the bullshit. The damn NFL has kinda followed suit. Ticket prices are ri-goddamn-diculous. Back in the late 90's, you could probably get a ticket for a decent seat for maybe 100 bucks. Now even the nosebleeds are 200 bucks a pop.

ARGH, this pisses me off so bad.

Well we do have the draft to ponder..........

It's too bad that free agency is on hold because of the labor dispute; I was hoping the Saint's could drop some dead weight/heavy salary dudes and mine some gold. Sideways, backwards, sideways, tackled for a a loss Bush one example.  Roman "Help me! I'm beaten 20 yrds" Harper another. Will "never sniff a QB" Smith.....sorry man, you need to be IN THE BACKFIELD forcing the opposing quarterback to move!

The Saint's have a good deep group of receivers - two of which will be new on the scene and I think will be top tier:  Adrian Arrington and Jimmy Graham.  No "superstars" but they can win games.  Thin at RB....P.Thomas is a MAN but he can not do it all by himself all season. They need another inside bruiser, Chris Ivory may be a big help there.  And of course if Drew Brees has 2 .4 seconds to decide what to do with the ball it ain't gonna be pretty.  Pay them big boys up front!

This is my main hope for Saint's in the draft: they get 3 or 4 lineman/linebackers who can wreak havoc in the opposing backfield.  With their offense, they then have a chance in every game............hhhahahahahahahhh even though it's the saints............let the draft crap shoot begin.....   :bananaw00t:

Crap shoot is right. You never know which one of these college kids are gonna do spectacular at the next level. Some of them kick major ass in college only to become so-so in the NFL. Some of them are relatively unsung heroes in college who manage to really break out with some amazing abilities in the big leagues. And even then, it usually takes a year or two or three for them to get up to full speed with the physical conditioning and start playing at 100%.

Just look at some of the big names that were drafted last year. None of them have really done much so far. Sam Bradford was #1 pick and was given the starting QB position at St Louis. TRUE, they did almost make it to the playoffs if it weren't for Seattle barely edging them out in the NFC West standings, but with a record of 7w-9l, yeah, pretty so-so, especially considering their mostly easy schedule last year. Tim Tebow is another one. They knew he'd suck ass so bad that they kept him in the classroom and on the bench all year to spare his fragile little ego the heartbreak he'd certainly have to face by getting chewed up and spit out by the opposing defense in every game. Ndomukong Suh who went to the Lions was pretty much touted as the linebacker from hell in college, but turned out to be quite transparent in the grand scheme of the game all year last year.

Anyway.

Things are starting to look a little more like the lockout will disappear and the players will get their way. I think I heard something on the news tonight about a judge ruling in favor of the players. Fuck em, they're all overpaid shitbags with too many tattoos and not enough brains, but I still have to side with them for the fact that the owners and NFL commisioners want to completely rearrange the season and pre-season training camp schedules, etc. Making the season longer might rake in a little more money for the suit wearing shitheaded motherfuckers, but it's also gonna completely screw up the old NFL records of the greats in the NFL hall of fame. Suddenly 2000 yds rushing on the season for several consecutive seasons isn't going to mean as much anymore. Longer season = more plays = higher stats. Fuck that. MAY TOM LANDRY SMASH THEM INTO THE DUST OF THE EARTH WITH HIS HUGE COCK!

Wow, Atlanta gave up a bunch for the receiver Jones from Alabama!   :P  With Scam Newton now in the NFC South, it should make for a fun season to watch (We already know Brees, Ryan, and Freemon are really good QB's).  The Saints did the right thing getting a pass rusher - last year the opposing QB had time to call his mom on the cell phone, say "hey mom, watch this" and then throw a pass.  Trading up for Mark Ingram...I like it.  He's big enough for short yardage stuff, pass blocking and is apparently a quality person.  Reggie Bush talks like a good team guy, but he still doesn't understand the idea is NOT to see how fast he can tip-toe out of bounds or that he can't go backwards and out run everybody by reversing directions.  Ship Bush to Atlanta!  More to come and it's already been stated.....you never know how any of these guys will work out in the pros.  Day 1, I'm happy.

HAHA! Me either! Y'all can keep that bastard! I'm glad they picked Julio Jones though. I liked seeing AJ Green make plays for my Dawgs at UGA, but I dunno if he's gonna be as productive in the NFL. He isn't that big. He's tall enough, but he's not beefy enough in my opinion. I think he'll probably fit in a lot better at Cincinnati. Before I or anyone else gets too far ahead of themselves, keep in mind that just because these guys were drafted in the first round, that doesn't mean that teams won't necessarily trade them around later. Nothings final yet. Anyway...

I think New Orleans would be making a big mistake if they plan on putting Mark Ingram in as the main HB. Pierre Thomas was putting up some decent stats once Bush was out, and in my opinion, he's the better runningback now anyway. Mark Ingram has been playing around ankle injuries the past two years too. So even if he does prove to be a great NFL runningback, I don't think he'll be in the game very long before he's out with those recurring ankle sprains and such.

I DO fully expect Carolina to hang on to Cam Newton no matter what offers are thrown at them. But I still don't expect him to make much of a difference for them at this point. They still have a lot of work to do before they will be a real threat.

And I'm also fairly sure that Atlanta will hold on to Julio Jones. Some of their receivers are veterans who aren't getting any younger or more productive. I certainly don't expect Atlanta to move Roddy White anywhere other than out on the field at the same position, especially with the downright fucking obscene salary he's making. But guys like Michael Jenkins have been playing for them for probably 10 years or more and might be looking to retire in the next few years. Atlanta has a habit of never trading their WR positions away.

Where did y'all get the impression that Bush might be heading to Atlanta? I've looked at a couple places on the web and so far no mention of talks with Atlanta or rumors or anything. Makes me a little nervous honestly. I mean I'd like to see Michael Turner get one more year to get back into the swing of things and start breaking some bulldozing runs like he did 2 seasons ago, but if he's gonna gingerly jog around and flop on his ass after one hit like he did all year last season, yeah, bring someone like Bush in, he can't be no worse. Hopefully Jerious Norwood will be 100% this year and hang tough, he was doing pretty good in Michael Turners absence 2 seasons ago. Then again, he could come back like Turner, just weak.
