I think they'll do better than everyone else is saying (one and done). But they had a hell of a year last year. It'll be tough to keep that going with what they've lost.

I saw a thread where people were discussing this picture:

.. And everyone was also giving their input on what they thought were there best upcoming matchups. In reality everyone was just naming their own team's biggest matchups and rivalry games haha. I took a look though at the schedule and noticed several that are intriguing, perhaps more exceptional than a normal season(some have already been mentioned):

Penn State @ Virginia Tech
North Dakota State @ Oregon
Oklahoma @ Army
Michigan @ Washington
Auburn vs North Carolina @ Atlanta
Virginia vs Georgia @ Atlanta
Tennessee @ Oklahoma

All of those are interesting at least, not all are the best but still decent teams.

The biggest matchups are Georgia Alabama, Penn State Ohio State, etc. but those 8 are pretty cool. Definitely better than Alabama USC and some others on that list lol. Then there's UCF vs Memphis; if they're both dominating their conference then sure, but Cincinnati and Houston are pretty much in the same boat to make a run.

At a 2nd glance Notre Dame vs Wisconsin and ole miss vs Baylor happen as well. There are probably a couple more good ones I missed.

I don't know why anyone would expect USC to give Alabama any kind of a challenge. No, actually I do know why: bias.

Georgia vs Florida could be the one that decides who reps the SEC East in the SEC Championship game, and Alabama vs LSU could be the deciding game in who reps the SEC West in the SEC Championship. And that's a rather important game seeing as how the winner has gone on to become the National Champs more often than not in the last 15 years. Georgia vs Alabama is gonna be pretty big too, as Georgia still hasn't had a win over Alabama in the last 15+ years, and it could make or break the season for either one of them. And every single time Georgia has had the opportunity to play Alabama, Alabama went on to win the National Title. So just for recent historical statistical purposes, winning that game has big implications. Although... not so much this year in my opinion. It's early in the season. Either one could bounce back from a loss there. And also it doesn't account for the fact that LSU will be a major player.

But what if LSU does NOT perform like they did last year? It's unlikely, but... If Alabama were to lose both the LSU and Georgia games and win the other 10, it could mean they still miss the SEC Championship and any hopes of seeding into the playoffs, which they have a bad habit of being able to magically do WITHOUT a conference title.

Clemson and Notre Dame will be important. If Notre Dame wins, it probably punches their ticket to a playoff berth provided they continue to kick ass within their segregated group of shitty football schools.

Notre Dame actually plays a couple of good teams this year. Of course, they'll rate their schedule as #1 SoS probably overrating it but at least it's respectable. Clemson, Wisconsin, Stanford, wake Forest, Duke, Pittsburgh, USC, Louisville, and Stanford isn't bad. Left out Arkansas and ga Tech, but they're on there too, hopefully those 2 can improve. ND certainly has a schedule that allows them to potentially build a playoff resume (not that they need it, it just worked out that way this year).

North Carolina will have a start with back to back defining moments. They're starting out ranked, and they'll either exceed expectations beating both UCF and Auburn, meet expectations by beating UCF and losing to Auburn, or lose both and the ACC looks just as bad as last year. I think the 2nd: they'll beat UCF by a decent margin then lose to Auburn hopefully in a good game.

Unless they do what the UFC and Nascar has been doing (no audience), I don't see how they can have a "normal" football season this year. Even if they cut capacity to 25% (which probably isn't enough), they still open themselves to potential liability. An insurance company somewhere may get involved and put forth stipulations prohibiting them from allowing spectators or something. Who the hell knows what could happen. It's a LOT of money on the line though, so one things for sure, they're definitely going to TRY to find a way to shoehorn some football in SOMEWHERE if it's AT ALL possible to do. And with things the way they are now, with pretty much NOTHING changed but stores and malls still opening any-fuckin-way... yeah, they're gonna get their college football advertising money.

It better fucking happen! I'm gonna be PISSED if it doesn't. Haha. Us tar heel fans haven't had this much to look forward to since damn 1997. Sure, there were decent teams but it was largely a good offense, good playmakers, good special teams, but with terrible coaching and bad defense(sometimes ABYSMAL defense). This is the most optimistic I've ever been about NC football by far.

Halfway surprised with it only being these 3. Everyone talks so much shit on vandy. Yes they're bad. But they're in the best conference and have this weird tendency to bring teams down to their level and lose in low scoring games. Idk. I'm just not a vandy hater, in a different conference they'd win a couple.

Any thoughts on Cam Newton signing with New England

I am wondering if NE will change their offense for Cam or will they make Cam change to the NE style of offense.
The answer is probably somewhere in the middle, but how it shakes out may be interesting.

If it don't work out very well (which I hope it don't), how long before the Cam/Bill relationship blows up.
Cam has never been someone who takes blame very well.

Can is a very moody and ego-driven person. He was over Carolina and playing through injuries and playing for them in general. A new start will probably help him out mentally. NE will probably protect him better too. Other than thinking he'll do a little better than he left off at with Carolina, I can't really say much.

UNC snagged their 3rd 5 star on defense(#1 CB nationally in his class, #7 overall). I know that's somewhat standard for Florida and Georgia, but things are certainly changing in chapel hill.

Mack's #1 obviously due to having some extra years on everyone, but was still a tad surprised. Figured he would've been 4th or something. Him and saban have a hefty lead over everyone else. There's a much larger margin between 2 and 3 than 3 and 10.
