You would always rather kick a field goal and MISS to lose a game than lose a game that way. I don't see how anyone could ever forgive themselves for that big of a fuck-up.

And at this point, I think Tony Gonzalez should've just fucking retired and been done with it. The Falcons management made some pretty retarded decisions to hurt the effectiveness of the team. They keep Asante Samuel around at CB, who was plagued with injuries the last half of last year and is in the same condition so far this year... and they get rid of Dunta Robinson on the other side at CB. WTF? Then they bring on Steven Jackson (probably a smart decision) and only think to keep ONE fullback on the roster, Bradie Ewing, who probably dislocated his shoulder against the Rams yesterday. So he'll probably be out the rest of the year, meanwhile Steven Jackson's gonna have smaller tiny dudes like Jaquiz Rodgers and Jason Snelling lead blocking for him. And with an O-line that's already as pussified as you can get, that amounts to utter failure in the run game. Roddy White and Julio Jones are playing injured. The D-line can't rush the passer for shit and flat-out GIVE THE FUCK UP before the play is even over. Even noticed a couple of the linebackers giving up in the middle of plays too.

So looks like New Orleans gets to coast to another easy NFC South title this year. Unless something happens and someone can talk Atlanta's O and D lines into playing like they give one single fuck, they'll be extremely lucky to even be in the wild card hunt come November.

One dude I'm glad they kept was safety William Moore. They'd be fucking NUTS to turn loose of him. Then they'd end up being on the receiving end of hits like this...



Fuckin' bodyslammed UFC style. I love it! Him and Dunta Robinson used to take GREAT pleasure in putting hits on guys like this on a weekly basis. I heard something last year about the defense delving into a bit of MMA style training. I guess we can see the clear proof of it now, haha!

Haha! YOU say that. The two dudes on NFL Gameday yesterday were talking up Atlanta's "young" defense. But I think y'all must be watching a different game than I am. When you let St. Louis (arguably one of the worst teams in the NFL right now) push your defense down the field for 24 total points, that's plenty of evidence to prove that there's a problem.

I'm comparing them to last year, and they just don't stack up to it at all. Last year, they made Denver look fuckin' silly. That shit wouldn't happen the same way this year. I was talking shit earlier about Denver, but so far, they're making me stick my foot in my mouth by looking like the top dog in the NFL this year. People been tooting the San Fransisco and Seattle horn, but I don't think Seattle would have jack shit for Denver. Denver with 7 touchdowns in one game might just happen 2 or 3 times before the season is over.

I just don't see the Panthers or the Bucs making any moves..the NFC East doesn't look very good so far..the NFC West is basically a 2 team division..the NFC North..I'd be surprised if they got a wildcard in..so, yea I think ATL has a good shot

Agree with that too. For several years in a row, the last place team one year would win the division the next.  It's a long season and injuries will hit everybody, but sometimes the backups prove to be as good or better than the established starter or veteran.  Sorry haunted, another obvious statement.

The hits I saw against the Jets (that were flagged) turned out to be legal.
The hits I saw against the Saints were dirty.  The safety is suppose to light up people coming across the middle, but you have to do it with the shoulder to chest not the opponents head.
TB's Goldson has been suspended for the next game, pending the appeal.

Waay back when I played at the high school level (1974-1977), that was called a "form tackle". Perfectly illustrated by the clip you posted. My ex-Marine head coach would have probably shouted " O, Sweetness!" for that tackle. RIP Coach Frank Skipper. A bit of trivia, his second head coaching job was at a small school in south MS and his assistant coach was Jimmy Johnson. As crazy as it may sound, I think Jimmy learned many things from my H.S. coach that helped him down the road. I know he taught a bunch of us youngsters that we had more in us than we thought we had. I'm sure the U.S. Marine Corps. taught him that as well, and he passed it on in the form of football. We had a total of 14 players at one point my senior year and went 5-5 against much bigger schools.  He made us do the "Oklahoma" hitting drills in the end zone during halftime of a game we were leading! I could tell stories all night about that man. He was HARD on us and we hated his guts at times, but he made us men and we all respected, admired and appreciated him after we parted ways.

Georgia Tech's been putting up lots of points this season. They might be all run, but unless your defense is quick to the edge and big enough to put some punishing hits on them, they're difficult to keep from getting 1st's and continuing drives. Might be more like...

Georgia tech has only played elon and duke though.. unc lost to sc 27-10, and beat mtsu 40-20(ga tech lost to mtsu last season 49-28). I doubt unc losing by 21 pts is more probable than them winning by 10 pts.

just to mention it: nc state has won 11 out of their last 12 home games(13 sort of with a bowl victory on louisville in charlotte), and it's a night game in Raleigh. When Clemson met them in raleigh around... 14 months ago, nc state won 39-13. they also beat fsu and unc the last TWO times either of them have played in Raleigh against state. the last time SC played in Raleigh(2010) they beat ncstate 7-3, haha.. it's one of the 2, maybe 3 home losses I've seen for ncstate in the past 5 or 6 years at a glance.

So, even though Clemson will probably win, this'll sort of be a test for them since there's no denying nc state has a knack for both winning home and losing away.
