Actually it's funny you should say that fader. I played for the last 12 years on dial-up but still enjoyed it, even thou I mostly came last!! I just recently got broadband & am getting more frags, but I guess most of the enjoyment is in the challenge of the frag - despite your ping.

It's all about living up to your abilities, I guess. But it would be nice to have a scoring system that takes your ping into account...

Well theres no singling out the people that can't play their best on high pings. To my knowledge, if you did something like that, you would have to include it for everyone.

Take for example sidelines; if you gave him 3 frags every kill, he would hit the fraglimit so fast, no one would even have a chance of beating him.

And if you're enjoying playing your best on a high ping, then I assume you wouldn't consider it important to win, no?

Anyway fader, I'm not trying to make a distinction between enjoying Q2 and winning. They're two different things. All I'm saying is that it would be more fair if ping was taken into account on the scoreboard.

The ping is already shown as part of most scoreboards, no code is needed for players to take it into account.

I propose more research into zero-width wormhole wiring, could probably get everyone on an even ping.
Fix the problem, not the symptoms.

Yes reflex, the ping is shown - but it's not reflected in the score!! Which is just what I'm trying to say.

As for 'zero width wormhole wiring', I have no idea what you're talking about.

Yes.

Anyway to reiterate, this is my latest idea:

Reconfigure the scoreboard to a points system which accomodates high pingers. For example, a player with a 200 (average) ping gets maybe 4 points per frag, whereas a player with a low 100 ping gets only 3 points per frag. A player on super slow dial-up with a 350 ping would get maybe 6 points per frag.

he's also not tui-cru, His Mother, drunk, Me on Top, stubby, QUASAR, Telly Tubby, or a variety of other aliases that all play on tastyspleen's DM server with the same ping, playstyle, gay skins and stupid aliases that cycle daily, who's been caught like 10 times now with various cheats while using the very same client.

He's really another player entirely who plays from the same ISP, country and province, he just acts like the other guy for shits and giggles.
