Now can we get back to more important issues like discussing my brilliant ideas? Hehe thx. I'm especially interested in what ppl think of having a mod where all weapons are permanantly powered up to quad damage (Solid Quad). Well, don't you think that would bring some spice back into Q2??? I think it would be at least as revolutionary as railz.

(of course you would need to remove the BFG, chaingun, and perhaps also the grenade launcher - but not hand-thrown grenades)

Full Quad Mod - SnuffHouse Server

Kewl idea,  with a few questions on other settings.  Do players start with any weps?  Whats a good all quad map?  Timelimit or fraglimit?
 
I think (80%sure) that this could be done without a mod.  I know on railz the damage done with rail can be set to whatever you want.
It was discussed for a bit to determine if killed players would gib or stay as bodies.  In the end it was decided to gib, and was set to 1,000.
I dunno if this is part of a mod or if quadz has a nifty way to cfg it,  or if he coded something in himself.  So set rail to 400 damage, blaster to 60?
sg pellet to 8? etc......

Would get old before to long,   but a splaterfest event is almost guaranteed.

I think a good 'Solid Quad' mod would have to include players being supplied with all weapons upon spawning (minus bfg, chaingun, etc,) so there's no disadvantage to newly-spawned players. Any dm-sized map would be suitable, and frag / timelimit could be set just like current DM servers.

I don't think such a mod would necessarily get old - it would basically just be a high-powered version of regular deathmatch.

No of course you couldn't have ALL weapons available in Solid Quad, because anyone using a bfg or chaingun would have a wildly unfair advantage over those using more moderate weapons.

Those advantages are balanced out,  the bfg takes 50 cells,  and the chain can only be fired for 8 seconds when full.

and,  if everyone starts out with them them nobody is at a disadvantage


Maybe everyone could start with full ammo,  and have no ammo on the map.  So after you use bfg and chain you were forced to use other weps.
Machine gun is even more deadly in a full house than chain when quad is involved, imo.

everything is over powered with quad... it would just turn into instagib where noobs could crutch chain and rocket spam instead of having to rail

In sports like golf, noobs are deliberately given an advantage (handicap) so that they have a fair chance against more experienced players.

This has the added advantage of attracting more people into the game - and let's face it, how much longer is Q2 going to survive without some new blood coming on the scene????? 

Sure, it would be like instagib - but with a variety of weapons rather than just rail. It would basically just be a very fast, very intense form of deathmatch.

look up the quake3 mod excessive plus, or something like that not sure on the exact name... its more or less what you are looking for i think, and it might be possible to make a form of it in q2

it does stuff like the bfg shots (q3 faster less poewrful ones) spawning huge explosions in mass around them, rapid fire rail gun, shotgun fires rail slugs in a spread, shit like that huge amounts of health and armor with this though so the knockback and shit ends up being crazy but its not all one hit kill kinda stuff
