ping should NEVER be factored into score that way...

in reality, the difference between a 90 ping and a 60 ping might be 2 rails

a noob who does nothing but spam rockets down hallways is gonna do just as good on 2 ping as he would on 200 minus maybe a frag or two...

ping is not a linear comparison you can handicap... imo, if you are playing on 150 ping its not much different than 200 ping, you gotta plan ahead and lead quite a bit... but playing on 30 ping isnt the same as playing on 60 ping... the lower pings get the more important they are to a certain point ofc

I don't like aliasing cheaters who lie about who they are to avoid the heat, and you're probably one of them, but it would take a bit more effort than you're worth to bother hating.

I guess we should just believe that there are 2 different players from NZ, on the same ISP, who pretty much only play on the very same server on the other side of the world for a 12 year old game that only a few hundred people in the world still play, and who both started using some variation on the alias "Tubby" over the course of a month.
I've never seen a player with that alias from ANY OTHER COUNTRY out of the 10,600 or so unique IP addresses that I've logged on my little servers over 3 years, so the odds seem kind of high.

Even if there are 2 unique "Tubby" players who frequent TS and you are one of them, you are probably lying about who you are since "TUI" and "His Mother" are each aliases from a different possible "Tubby" player as far as the logs go, one of whom has been shown to regularly alias and attempt to load hacks and the other of whom would be a member of a lame ass FFA teamcamping clan.

Are you a magical 3rd player named Tubby on the same ISP and from the same country, or are you one of the above?
(you say you neither camp nor hack, so either one would mean you're lying)

If i'm such a cheat, why do I rarely (if ever) win a Q2 match?

I don't know about cheats / logs etc., like I said. I don't even know how to use a bot or a hack. I don't know, and i'm not interested in knowing, because to me using such things defeats the whole purpose of Q2 which is the pleasure of the frag.

I don't know how I got on your goddam 'logs' - whatever the fuck they are - and I don't care. I simply started this thread to promote some ideas I'd thought up after 12 years of playing Q2, yet it seems to have turned into a Tubby-bashing session.

For FUCK'S SAKE, I just wrote a lengthy post on this in excruciating detail, and the browser ate it.

In short:

I've written a script to analyze IP vs. player alias history over the past few years for the new zealand players.

Near as I can tell, Tubby, Perky, and BitchBcool are each separate players.

My original post had more info, I can't deal with redoing it all right now.

The short version, over the past few years, Tubby has mostly been on *.paradise.net.nz, with a brief stint on *..dialup.xtra.co.nz, *.jetstream.xtra.co.nz, and lately, *.cable.telstraclear.net. This matches his forum usage as well.

Over the same period, Perky has been on *.jetstream.xtra.co.nz almost exclusively, with an occasional *.jetstart.xtra.co.nz in the past. And this matches his forum (and IRC) usage.

BTW, it is Perky who has been aliasing Tubby lately (and variations such as "Rubbatubby", "fat^tubby", etc.)

Based on the results of the analysis, the only way I could see Perky and Tubby possibly being the same person is if they used one set of aliases at work and a different at home, consistently, for years--apart from the deliberate spoofing on Perky's side. (There's just one usage of 'perky' that overlaps a Tubby IP, but it's on *.jetstream.xtra.co.nz, which is hands out dynamic IPs like crazy.)

That's all for now, copying this bastard to the clipboard this time...
