Ok so anyone out there willing to take the plunge & develop a Last Man Standing or Solid Quad mod?

Or are Q2 moders too old & set in their ways - like my 76 y/o mother who's too scared to use the new-fangled microwave oven in case it blows up. Hehe

BTW I would love to know what Admin thinks of my ideas, if he's listening.

Well, we experimented with an all-quad night a few years ago on ts500. I don't recall the exact settings, but I had bumped up the player starting health to compensate a bit for the 4x weapon damage. Can't recall if the starting weapons inventory was tweaked or not.

Our FFA mod is able to make those sorts of tweaks by changing cvars; so no custom code was written.

It was fun for awhile, but the novelty seemed to wear off before too long. Dunno if tweaking it differently might have helped.

Vae, I think most Q2 players consider anything 'Quake 3' to be entirely off the planet as far as they're concerned. I certainly do, and as far as I'm concerned anyone who tries to equate one with the other is doing nothing but trying to mix oil with water.

and console didn't shoot down your idea, he just verified it's do-ability and suggested a retweak.

Yes Reflex (re Last Man Standing) I agree that it wouldn't be fun waiting for everyone else to finish after you die.... But surely that would be an added incentive for you to stay alive - and to enhance and develop your fragging skillz.

After all, isn't that what Q2 is all about?

Are you ready to take the plunge and learn how to program in C then spend a month of your time coding and bugtesting?

Are you ready to stop hiding behind silly aliases pretending you aren't the only q2 player from New Zealand?

ive played both mods, they arent much alike at all... wod sux imo

excessive is kinda like... big maps, huge knockback, huge amounts of health and armor so you dont die very fast, just over the top versions of each weapon not like six hundred stupid types of each weapon... i guess youll have to see it

You should rather look at all these as a challenge tubby to learn coding yourself rather than putting much effort to convince other people here to do the coding in a mod that I believe would surely suck and end up like to no one playing.

Last man standing huh.. imagine it as an annoying mod that if a group of annoying players would agree to team up and would the the last players left and refuse to frag each other just to annoy the others then the game is stuck. Tsk tsk not that brilliant really.

Well, somebody's obviously jealous of my brilliant ideas...

Whirling, I don't 'hide' behind aliases, I just use them when I'm not drunk enough to show off Tubby's true skillz. Besides, I would find it quite an honour if I was the only Q2 player from NZ (which I'm not).

As for 'trying to sneak shit past anticheat', I have such a lack of computer skills that I really don't even know how to use a bot - let alone 'sneak shit past anticheat' - and if you don't believe that then you obviously haven't seen me play. I don't exactly tend to score particularly highly as one would expect of a bot-user.

And as for learning how to make the mods myself, well, let's just say I had to take remedial maths at school. Enuff said.

BTW, I've never seen anyone called 'Whirling Dervish' in play. So what was that you were saying about aliases...?
