The guitar he's playing in that video was a gift to him from the late Dimebag Darrell from Pantera and Damageplan. After Pantera broke up, between 1999 and 2003, David teamed up with Darrell, Vinnie Paul, and Rex Brown of Pantera to record several songs whenever they found the extra time to do so. It wasn't until 2006 that they finally released the album, Rebel Meets Rebel (about 3 years after the murder of Dime). It's probably not a very popular album. Personally, I like it, but then again, I like anything with Dimebag or David Allan Coe.

Got a chance to see DAC live a couple of times live around 2001 and 2002, once at the old Cowboy's in Kennesaw GA (now closed) and once at the old famous Mama's Country Showcase in Decatur GA. Not sure if he performs anymore at all. Last time I saw anything about him performing, he was doing the whole show sitting. He had been in a car wreck around 2012 and age was really playing a factor on him. Hell he's 80-something years old at this point.

Sort of a last gasp of Eric Clapton's psychedelic side from Cream and Blind Faith. I like some of his solo tunes after Blind Faith and Derek & the Dominos, but late 60's Clapton was my favorite.

I don't dislike Golden Earring, but I'm not a fan of that version. I don't really think I'd like ANYONE's cover version of it. You'd need 2 distinct elements to cover the song properly. Number one, you have to have a Rickenbacker guitar with those twangy Rickenbacker pickups, particulary a 12-STRING Rickenbacker like Roger McGuinn was famous for. Number two, you need at least two singers (three is better) with impeccable harmony and voices that are nice and smooth textured and complement each other well. That's where David Crosby came in. He was never the best person to be a lead singer, but his voice was perfect for a backup harmonizing role.





(Notice the 6 regular tuning pegs, plus 6 holes above each peg leading to 6 other tuners on the back for the paired strings.)

And even if you do a jam cover (no vocals), you still at least need to have a lead guitar that can somewhat approximate the sound of McGuinn's 12-string Rick, something like a Gretsch or perhaps a Fender Jazzmaster if you run it through the right amp settings. Got to have that twingy-twang to it.

Used to listen to this band a little back in the 90's. I loved them, and would've listened to them a lot more, but their stuff was pretty hard to find. They were one of the original death metal bands that came about in the mid to late 80's when the genre was forming. They had a super tight thrashy sound, complete with the stereotypical very scooped-out midrange sound to all the guitars. I think they were from Germany.

One of my favorite groups from the 1960's...

Blind Faith

...a "supergroup" featuring guitarist Eric Clapton and drummer Ginger Baker from Cream, and Steve Winwood on vocals/keyboard from Spencer Davis Group, as well as Ric Grech on bass who would go on to join Steve Winwood in the band Traffic. Unfortunately they only put out one single album and only ever played a handful of live dates. I wish they could've stayed together long enough to put out a couple more albums. I thought the combo of Steve Winwood on vocals paired with the guitar and drum sounds of Cream was really great.

Here's a solo acoustic performance by Steve Winwood of Can't Find My Way Home. You might think he chose the fireplace as just a photogenic place to perform it, but I think it's more likely that it was a cleverly chosen location that along with the mic selection and placement helped maximize the bass projection of his guitar to make it sound fuller and more dramatic when the verses start over.
