If you ask me, Skynyrd should've hired Travis Tritt as their lead singer instead of letting Johnny Van Zant do it. Johnny sounds and looks a little like Ronnie, but who gives a shit, he AIN'T Ronnie, and Travis was actually a great fit for the band. I guess he had his own solo country career at the time though, so whatever.

The original electric rock and roll guitar god, largely forgotten about these days when people talk about great guitar players and performers. This was recorded in 1955, when he was 30 years old at that time and just starting to become widely popular... and the damn guy is STILL ALIVE and STILL PLAYING today. I don't think he tours anymore, the dude is damn near 90, but I think he still plays regularly at some famous bar in downtown St. Louis Missouri not too far from where he lives.

Dunno when the hell Slayer will ever retire. Probably only when Tom Araya drops dead. They could lose Dave Lombardo and still have Paul Bostaph as a suitable backup. I could also see them finding a replacement for either Kerry King or Jeff Hanneman if something every happened to one of them. But I don't see how they could ever replace Tom Araya without completely pissing off the fans. Its kinda weird. Usually I hate bands that keep on rocking into their gray haired years. But Slayer still sounds every bit as mean and badass as they ever did. So I guess as long as the music still sounds good, keep on rolling.

Fact: Stevie Ray Vaughan, even when he's geeked out of his fucking mind on coke, kicks your ass with a guitar.

Really sucks that towards the end of his life he finally got clean and started REALLY laying down some good shit... and then he went and died. Sometimes it's good that certain musicians leave this world early, cuz they probably would've went on to put out some horrid shit, but I don't think SRV could've made a bad album if he tried. Hell, I bet he could've put down his guitar and started playing nothing but an accordion or a fucking glockenspiel and made that shit rock.

This just makes me laugh. Joe Walsh so fucked up on alcohol and god knows what else that he forgets when the first verse starts (just after 0:47). He looks back at the drummer to signal that they'll play one more bar and then catch the first verse again.
