Ever noticed how people try to get id game stuff in to Valve's games but nobody ever bother to get Valve stuff in to id games.  It's because id games ARE AWESOMER!

I'm not sure what else you would want to replicate besides portals. I guess perhaps the gravity gun from HL2, but none of the Quake games really have movable world objects.

Far from impossible, whatever HL2 can do can be done in D3 (minus the lighting, that goes both ways).  A lot can already be done in Quake 1 (there's a portal weapon done by someone & Darkplaces supports all the funky physics stuff HL2 does).

I'd say it's not done because it's not that it can't be, it's because the Quake/Doom modders would rather make some more exciting then remaking an already existing franchise in their game of choice.  Quake players aren't impressed by seeing a strider in Q1/2/3/4 (Q4 had that giant spider, which was bigger).  Half Life players are impressed by saying "look, we can do it too!" with some old sprites or models.

They always make these "funny" commercials to where the WOMAN gets to fantasize about fixing her lousy husband or boyfriend and this is never seen as purely sexist.

But if they remade that commercial to the where the MAN could plug the little wonder box into the back of the woman and magically make her stop bitching about everything, talking too much, spending less money, spending less time on the phone, etc etc, then it would be completely and utterly sexist and womens groups across the country would be slapping on their warpaint and screaming to boycott the companies products and ban the commercial from television.

Basically... fuck women. If you wanna bitch about your lousy man, then fucking LEAVE. No one's holding a gun to your head and making you stay with him. How it is NOT completely a womans fault that she CHOSE to live with or marry some guy that gets on her last nerve? Believe it or not, its NOT a universal fact or absolute truth that all couples get on each others last nerve most of the time. Some people actually get along famously most of the time. Of course it requires both people making a conscious decision to let go of their petty neurotic selfish penchant for bullshit creation, but it actually IS possible.

Another way to look at this commercial: that woman chose a really bad man and she can't get a good one on her own, she needs a company to fix her bad decisions.
