I'm pinging around 150 instead of 140 so no appreciable difference.
still, screw those Houstonians! They ain't good enough to host Tastyspleen!

same spleen, new taste. it's like new coke: not everybody is enjoying it.
I have yet to log on, but I'm on a different ISP then last time so it could be an issue for me too.

It's almost certain we're going to be relocating the server to Dallas, where the old one was.
Sadly, that means the IP will change again... but oh well...
At least the pings should be back to normal.

Higher Ping, but feels a bit smoother for me, perhaps the better hardware at play:

Oh good....its not just me. I went to connect today and I get no server addresses. Aha...the new IP's have arrived. Change my config file to the new addys and all the usual favs come up. I notice a bit of a delay when I start but that can happen at night. I look at my ping and its still in the 60's but I can actually see the delay. When I disconnected it had crept into the 70s. I thought my ISP service was mucking around, but now I know why....

Greetings,
I've modified r1ch's q2redir.c program to respond to pings and status requests, to try to help out folks who are using game browsers and think the tastyspleen servers have just disappeared. I'm running it on all the quake ports on the old tastyspleen IP.
What I do is return a bogus player listing that hopefully turns into a readable message (assuming it gets sorted by high scores.) I also return some info text...
Anyway I don't have a game browser so I haven't been able to see whether it actually ends up looking OK.
Could someone with a browser like ASE or whatever be so kind as to try adding the old vanilla (for example) to your server list, and see what it looks like in your browser?
vanilla was: 67.19.248.74:27912
Thanks,
quadz

Unscanned....
I wonder if that's like the old GameSpy thing, where it would put servers on a "never ping" list after they failed a few times.

In Xfire, I get the whole NEW_SERVER servername and player listing. Works fine for me.
