it seems like everyone else is sufferening from FRALS too. (Frequent Recurring Annoying Lag Syndrome)

Phfuck.  I /just/ now got the refund for the Houston system, too, after weeks of wrangling.

There's some particular route (router) affecting multiple players, but not everyone.  My netgraph to the new server is totally clean and my ping is just like it used to be on our original server.  So I know it's not the first couple hops, or the server itself.  But it's something in a route that's common to multiple players.

(Focalor, for example, for both me and you, from the servers point of view, the first 5 hops are exactly the same...)

Anyway, this really sucks, but I think the only way to solve it is going to be to identify the actual router responsible, so we can submit a trouble ticket and be very specific about it.  We'll need lots of data.  Especially because it's intermittent.

Regarding FRALS: If you haven't already, try turning on your netgraph.  You'll probably see periodic bursts of red lines.

At this point, screenshots of people's netgraphs showing the lag would be helpful, in addition to tracert's and pathpings.

I really want to get this solved, but we're going to have to hunt the bastard router down.

I haven't been playing much the last two days but the times I was playing it was pretty stable without lag. So it does look a lot like temporary lag due to one or more sleeping routers.

Since today (january 31) my ping is perfect (taking into consideration my European location...).

So something must have changed this very day! Would be interesting to hear if tastyspleen knows about some specific changes today... Or perhaps, it is just my default ISP.

Nevertheless, interesting to see that the route still goes through level3.net, and in spite of this fact my ping is very low now.
