Hi, Yes congrats on the migration and the forum seems alot faster BUT I have to say that since the IP change my ping has increased atleast 20ms to 30ms, Like on the DM server I used to ping 59, 60, Now its around 90ms.... this sucks I thought the ping was going to stay the same...

Has anyone else seen a increase in their ping

Yep. I'm in Georgia and my ping went UP. I was pinging 40, now I'm pinging 60. [EoM]Pr0c3550r was pinging 150+ here recently, now he's pinging in the 80's. Dammit man, just when I think I've got this shot prediction figured out, PING FUCKS ME!

The IP change (the better hardware) is great news! I just rewrote all of my favourites (which were the TastySpleen servers) and I'm going to check it out now!

The ping is different. It's worse for me, too. And I can see why...

I just ASSUMED it would be the same, because every other server I've had with theplanet (this is my fifth one) has always been in the same datacenter in Dallas, TX. I didn't know they also had a datacenter in Houston, TX. And that's where my new server ended up.

So not only is the new server 240 miles further south, but for many of us the route makes a detour through Dallas FIRST, and then down to Houston.

I'm going to see what I can do about it. I do have another quad-core server in Dallas... If worst comes to worst I suppose I can swap it with tastyspleen. (But I don't want THAT server in Houston, really either...

)

Gah, I feel like an idiot for just assuming the new server would be in the same datacenter as all the rest of them...

Ugh, what a nightmare.

They are looking for a replacement server in Dallas for me... It's not guaranteed that they have one with the same features at the same price, etc.... So I have my fingers and toes crossed.
