In 1999, the name "Ghost" was already taken on heat.net. After several variations I used an ID code they used at my high school, 9909. After several years as Ghost9909 I shortened the name.

I would like a less generic name, but so many people know me as this that it's too late to change.

Well lets see here. I've been DeathStalker ever since I found my first online server and realized that I wasn't the only one named "Player".
I knew I wanted something Dark and Sinister, and having something to do with Dying at the hands of others. So the Death part was easy.
But I also wanted something lurking, sneeking, coming up from nowhere and nabbing you.
But i felt the Grim Reeper would be to generic. But I remembered that old movie DeathStalker. I knew that was it.
I would be Death, and I would stalk my victoms, yea, that's it.
DeathStalker.

I've been asked before in game, How do you stalk Death. I'de have stop and explain to them that i'm not stalking death, but that I am Death and i'm stalking you. that's why the name is all one word.
If I was stalking death then it would be split. Death Stalker.

I've noticed alot of Death over the years i've played, ie... Death Bringer, Death inc., Death Dealer, Death(you name it)

Should be obvious. Came from my dial up days when I had a 200+ ping. Now that I'm on ATT/Yahoo super duper DSL and have a <45 Ping! I get asked during play "hey Lee, what's with that name?", "You got a 35 ping!".

Detroit. Its a beautiful ghost like city ridden with rust and industrial waste and adandoned buildings (in a quake sort of way), amazing inhabited buildings, wide barren roads, mad weed, crack whores and a rich history spanning hundreds of years. I've been living here 4, I guess I like to represent it in all my ghettoblastering. I've gone under other names while living in other places, 'nothing' 'Gwags' 'riotmachine'

Let's make a translation before. Chacal = Jackal .. duh!

Everything started about 5 years ago (i used to play Q2 on single player, only that), when some of my friends started playing some LAN matches.... it was hell fun (and more when we were drunk). While we were playin' (we were like 6 friends and I); a group of 3 or 4 players were fightin each other, then i suddenly appeared above them, and I killed all of them with Rockets.. or nades.. (i dont remember).... then... one of my friends... say the magic sentence.... "YOU FUCKIN JACKAL SON OF ABITCH" (like a jackal, I came to 'finish' all the bleeding players) all of us stopped playin and started laughin'.....since that moment, I started using "Chacal". I used to do that very often... in our LAN matches....... ....

For a few moments, i used Mercenary; cuz on that moment i felt that i was "hired" to Kill... players..

I agree, but its about the only place I wouldnt want to fall apart.

My current handle is my name. I guess I don't see the need to have an alter-ego or alias for online life anymore. Too much of my real life is actually spent online, anyway

Makes it easier for people to find me, my software, etc. I play quake as jdolan, which is my Unix username, which is what Quetoo defaults to using.

Some of my previous handles..

RoGuEBiTcH: I used to play as RoGuE, and with the female player model. My friend Lisa (who knew that I played as RoGuE) called me in the middle of a game once, heard the player's jumping sounds, and said "What are you some RoGuE bitch?" It stuck.

=[R]=Jay=: RoGuE actually turned into a clan. Members all wore the tag along with their real first name. =[R]=Bob=, =[R]=Chris=, =[R]=Tom=, etc..

I miss those early days when it was all new and exciting and working every angle to get every bit through the pipe faster and everyone had the same handicap because everyone was stuck on v32 (or slower) and.... sorry....please excuse old man rambling...
